    Blackhawks' Brian Campbell: "Gutless"

    A) Kronwall is then out of the lineup for 5 minutes while the Wings were already skating minus one of their best defensive forwards in Datsyuk. B) You're assuming he wins the fight which isn't a guarantee and even if he wins, nothing happens to him. C) If the Hawks are so mentally weak that they'd let one of their players losing in a fight further demoralize them, I doubt they would of made it to the WCF's.

    Blackhawks' Brian Campbell: "Gutless"

And run the risk of getting injured when the Wings had nothing to gain from his fight and a lot to lose if Kronwall gets seriously hurt. Brilliant. For you maybe. If Kronwall had dropped the mits I would've found that to be extremely stupid given the Wings had nothing to gain from it. Some people here want to be "entertained" by a hockey fight, I'd rather be entertained by solid hockey and smart decision-making.

Red Wings' Nickas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk not skating

I do, I just thought it was weird that you quoted me. Cheers

Red Wings' Nickas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk not skating

You do realize I was making fun of those that question Dats' toughness, right? I wasn't one of them.

Red Wings' Nickas Lidstrom, Pavel Datsyuk not skating

Plenty of times when a player takes a shot to the foot they're able to finish the game. However, once they take their skate off it generally swells up instantly and massively. I'm so sick of people on this site questioning players' toughness. Yes, there are some cream puffs in the NHL, but Dats has never given the impression he's one of them.

    Wings physical play is underrated

That's not 60% effort....that's 100% intelligence. If you throw your body around with reckless abandon like Kronwall and Stuart do in the playoffs, you won't be healthy throughout the year, and most certainly not in the playoffs when those types of hits are so crucial and helpful. It's called saving yourself for when its important. Until the Red Wings struggle in the regular season, there's no need to play that way all 82 games.

    Datsyuk is a gametime decision

The double-whammy if Dats is out is it breaks up the Hudler-Filppula-Sammy line which has mad chemistry right now. No, Malts is replacing Abdelkader. Leino would take Dats' spot if he can't go.

    ECF Game #2 GDT

Exactly. Every player gets banged up and has to play through injury once the playoffs begin, especially the SCF's. I don't doubt that Malkin had some bumps and bruises, but some want to claim that's the reason he wasn't performing, while others claim it was because the Wings' stifling defense made him struggle. The Wings team defense (especially last season) did that to everyone they faced. Hmm...a *Pittsburgh* newspaper "explaining" Malkin's decline in play....gofigure. Show me one from a media outlet other than Pittsburgh.

Datsyuk listed as "day to day"

I didn't come up with the phrase.....however, you might want to put a "?" rather than a period at the end of a question.

Datsyuk listed as "day to day"

Thank you. It certainly does. Have you never heard the phrase, "Having your cake, and eating it too?"

Datsyuk listed as "day to day"

Well, that's enough reasoning for me! Bring him on up! :nonono: He's not replacing someone from the fourth line. You're talking about inserting him because Dats might be out....meaning every single Red Wing will move up a slot, and the Wings as a whole will be more defensively inferior due to the domino effect. This has nothing to do with wanting to see some fights. GMR...lets lay it all out there right now. You want your cake and you want to eat it too. All I give a s*** about is my cake. I don't need to eat it too. What you're pushing for is to see the Wings insert a fighter, win the game, and then see Downey beat up a guy. Correct? Now what happens if the Wings don't win? Are you still going to be happy because Downey beat Eager (or anyone else for that matter) up? For f*ck's sake, the Wings are 6 wins away from a back-to-back championship and 5 in 12 years, but its still not enough. No, some of our fans need their fights too.

    ECF Game #2 GDT

Based on what? Once the playoffs concluded nothing was documented of an injury for Malkin. All that was said was talk about Malkin stating that he was "tired" after Games 1 and 2. This is not meant to be arrogant, but one has to think he felt that was due to the Pens generating zero offense in Games 1 and 2. It makes more sense to think he was trying to save face, than for fans to assume he "wasn't the same" because he was checked into the boards earlier in the previous series.

Datsyuk listed as "day to day"

That's great hypothetical reasoning for bringing in a guy that skates terribly compared to most NHL calibre teams, much less one of the quickest in the game.
  17. NeverForgetMac25

Datsyuk listed as "day to day"

Yet no Red Wing has been knocked out of the lineup due to what you consider "too much freedom running our guys around". I understand that you want this "physical presence" somewhere in the Wings lineup at all times, but let's be straight with each other here. Downey is the very definition of having cement in his skates, and you think it would be a good idea inserting him into the lineup during the Wings' first game on the road against one of the quickest skating teams in the league?

Please tell me this is a joke.

Datsyuk listed as "day to day"

Downey for Dats. Great swap. :looney: I'm sorry, but what on earth could Downey bring to the table against the Blackhawks that would be of any use?

    ECF Game #2 GDT

Don't you remember how dominant Malkin was in the ECF's against PHI last season? Same thing....he played great and then magically he was "tired" against the Wings. I'm not saying it would happen again, but I do believe if either one of the Wings' top line or the PK start firing on all cylinders it should be a series win for the Wings. If both start clicking, the series will be over faster than it was last season. Notice the word "should"....not "will".

    Touchdown Pittsburgh.

    ECF Game #2 GDT

In some areas, worse.....but generally just different. Our PK and our "top line" definitely look worse, but our depth is firing on all cylinders. If even one of the two aforementioned start clicking the Wings will be in just as good of shape as they were last season, and if both start...it should be a quick series. Note: Fleury allowing 4 goals against the Canes? Imagine what he'd allow against this Wings offense.

Chicago Fans Complaing about Missed Calls

From the Blackhawks' boards: For a guy who's a fan of "Old Time Hockey", perhaps he should be more familiar with the rules. Supposedly, because Homer skated back towards Khabi, *didn't make contact, but skated back toward Khabi* and as a result this *made* Nikolai go backwards and thus this goal shouldn't have counted. :rotflmao: I don't like to rip on other teams' fans because every fan base has these types, but perhaps this guy should learn that goaltender interference can take place outside the crease *if* a player makes contact with a goaltender that has position or interferes with them trying to make a save. Given this, why didn't Khabi just let Homer run into him? Fact of the matter is Homer did no such thing, but this guy wants the goal waved off because basically mean old Homer came close to him and made Khabi "retreat". This is good too:
