I always loved how the name "Guy Herbert" is pronounced. When you pronounce it as American as possible, its sounds very different. I was also 14 during that '97 series and easily amused.

With how many times we were able to hit the blue line with speed and with seeming odd-man rushes, I'm gonna say Dats. Not to mention Dats always does well against Khabi. Dangle-Dangle, then a put-away.

Why...because I'm not sitting here praising Dats for his defensive play and disregarding the fact that he was the leading scorer of this team this season? You need to relax, I'm not (nor are a lot of people) bitching about Dats. We're simply stating that he's not doing well offensively, especially coming off his regular season campaign. It doesn't matter if there are half the playoffs yet to come (which you don't know there are). The fact is, he's been struggling to score this postseason. Boy, that sure sounds like bitching to me. /sarcasm Who's saying anything about Zetterberg? I certainly wasn't. If Dats had four EN goals he'd still only have 9 points in 12 games. That's not exactly tearing it up for a guy that is one of the best all-around players in the world. Does that surprise you that I think he's one of the best all-around players in the world? Perhaps you should stop judging people before you have the slightest clue what their feelings are toward the players. Nice job putting words in people's mouths. Never once did I claim he was a greedy russian...and if I did, please find it. You're just pissed off because people are stating the fact that Dats is struggling offensively. No one is calling for his head, just that if the Wings' depth stops producing they're going to need both him and Hossa to step up on the scoreboard. So far, they haven't. Why is this so difficult for people to understand without getting so defensive? You'd think people here were insulting his family the way some are blindly defending him.

Perhaps I'm doing this wrong, but if Chicago's numbers were 7.7/19, wouldn't that mean they were at 41%? That's only 4% less than Detroit's 45%.

Seriously? You honestly believe two of the best forwards in the world are being shut down because of the third guy on their line? Not to mention the fact that Homer is planting his ass where he has his entire career....in front of the goalie. That's always going to take up one defenseman meaning these guys aren't getting double-teamed. Homer is forcing the opposition to single-cover them and they still aren't finding the back of the net. Has Homer had a terrible postseason: Without a doubt. Is he the reason Dats and Hossa are as well: No way. If those two can't be difference makers playing on the same line with a pylon on the right wing, I question the need for their $14 million total salaries.

What if the team stops winning? It's not crazy or pathetic to state that if the team starts struggling and Dats and Hossa don't step up *offensively*, alot of the blame can and should fall on their shoulders. No one is knocking their defensive play, but on top of that these guys are here to score. If the Wings' depth all of a sudden starts struggling, Dats and Hossa will need to do their job on the scoreboard. Thus far, they haven't.

I really wonder how his conditioning is given that the Doctors basically wouldn't let him do anything until his headaches went away. The Lilja the Wings have had this year and last would be an unbelievable asset to the bottom pairing and alongside Lidstrom on the PK, but you gotta wonder if he'd be in that form at this point. Even if he's been skating for a few weeks, he'd be so far behind everyone else given the amount of time he's gone without gameplay. Sidenote: I still can't believe how many people haven't realized how strong of an asset Lilja has been the past two years...not just this year. I suppose its like the Sammy trend. People hear him getting ripped on here at LGW and the ignorant continue to bash well longer than its deserved. For the price, Sammy has been great the past few years and the same goes for Lilja, yet we still hear bitching. Like I've said for the past few years, for their respective contracts Lilja and Sammy are great.

I gasped so loud when I saw that play. The way his blade actually slid across his juglar was just terrifying. It's amazing (yet horrific) to think that if his skate had been an inch higher, we'd likely be having a very different discussion right now.

All year we heard about their depth up front. The problem is when you scan that roster you'll notice there's no *current* all-world talent. When their depth couldn't get timely goal-scoring, they had no one to turn to when they needed an offensive leader. That's why they're out.

"Knowing" how to beat the Wings is very different from actually doing it. The Ducks have the "right" type of defensemen and play a style of hockey that has caused trouble for the Wings in the past. The Blackhawks don't have those type of defenders. The best chance they have in this series is to win high-scoring affairs because they can't match up defensively against the Wings' offense as effectively as the Ducks did. They just don't have the pieces. If the Blackhawks are to move on, they're going to have to play stellar *team* defense and score a lot of goals.

Yeah....that should be no problem for Holland. /sarcasm While I salivate at the thought of Hossa taking a decent paycut to remain a Red Wing we as fans have to be more realistic. The guy was the leading goal-scorer for the Wings in the regular season and turned down a reported 9-year/$81 million offer from Edmonton. Do you really think Holland could get him to sign for *under* $4 million per even if it was long-term?

Tradition. It's not about the amount of success the Wings have had the past 18 years or the 4 Cups they have to show for the last 11 years, "Detroit Sucks" is their way of saying, "we hate you". Nothing wrong with that....I hate them. I have no problem with this tradition, its when I'm walking to my seat with my wife and we have to listen to a good amount of Hawks fans saying "f*** You" that I have a problem with.

It doesn't matter if it was Cleary's push. Hiller never had possession of the puck and incidental contact is allowed in a rebound situation. Again, good goal.

I actually even have a tough time calling it Karma. The goal was scored within the rules of the NHL, no if's, and's, or but's. The Hossa goal was simply the product of a the ref being in the wrong position. That goal should've counted, the goal last night should've counted....and atleast it did. If the Ducks fans are so concerned about that, perhaps they should take a look at how the refs gave them the second goal. Instead of the Wings being up 3-1 and going to the PP, the ref completely misses the ball, awards the Ducks a PP, lets Pronger get away with a cross-check and thus allows ANA to bring it within 1.
