So if Parros serves no purpose against a team of "nancy-boys" as you call it, that makes him useless. Like I said initially. No need to sugar-coat it and say the Wings don't play the type of style Parros does. The bottom line is that Parros is useless against the Wings.
-
Sidenote: I'm so sick of people claiming fighting is the big thing that gets the team/crowd "into it". A nice setup, a relentless forecheck, a big hit, strong neutral-zone play are some of the many things that get a team (and knowledgeable fans) "into it". Why do grit slappies think fighting is the end all to pump up the team/crowd?
-
If the Wings are too weak to play the game Parros plays, then answer NN's question. Given your stance, why wouldn't you absolutely play Parros to exhibit physical dominance and thus get the Wings off their game?
-
Fixed it for you. It has nothing to do with the Wings being a "physically weak team" as you call it. It's that he would be more of a hindrance to his team than he would be helpful against this Red Wings club.

My bad....I had Wisniewski (and his former team) on the brain.

You know, for all the announcers denouncing what Kopecky did giving by "giving the ANA fans something to cheer about", they seemingly didn't realize the trade-off that took place and how it helped the Wings. By Kopecky and Beauchemin dropping the mits, it took the Ducks number 4 defenseman off the ice for 5+ minutes with less than 9 minutes remaining. Kopecky is a borderline 4th liner who's presence wouldn't really be missed as much as Beauchemin's. Not only this, the Ducks were playing minus Wisniewski last night, so technically they lost their number 3 defenseman until there was less than 4 minutes in regulation. While I agree that you don't want to get the crowd into it, it was a great trade-off for the Wings. The announcers didn't seem to get that. Edit: I see henrik40 beat me to it. I didn't even notice your post until after mine.

I have DirecTV and I think the only reason 604 came up was because of the overlap with the VAN/CHI game. The only downside to the 604 channel is that it wasn't being broadcast in HD. For that reason alone I was happy to see the OT finish early. I think I was able to switch over to 603 HD feed no more than 3 minutes in.

QFT. I can't stand the Ducks, but the feelings I had toward the Avalanche from '95-'02 will probably never be matched by any team ever again. Homer glasses off, that was the best rivarly in all of sports. Fans of other teams (and other sports for that matter) will even attest to this.

Anyone that understands tradition had to love seeing Pronger touch the Octopus. Of course it doesn't mean the Wings are now guaranteed to win, but a little smirk grazed my face upon seeing that.
-
It certainly should've been a penalty, but based solely on Homer's comments after the game, I'm not sure it was "dirty". Homer said he didn't know Wisniewski was there. That doesn't make it dirty, just slightly careless. All this is contingent though on taking Homer's word for it.

The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008
NeverForgetMac25 replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
I've wracked my brain about this very issue. My dad and I were discussing this and his contention (which I agreed with as well) is that wherever he goes, doesn't change what he's accomplished. While I agree with that and feel his number should be retired, now the ceremony will absolutely have to wait for 5 years if not more. He's created such an enemy of himself that retiring his number in a town that's now beyond furious with him would be a tough sell and a frigid ceremony. Bottom line....everything I used to think about Brett Favre and his legend has been completely wiped away and I don't care if I ever hear about him again. Think about what someone would have to do to make one of his biggest supporters feel this way in only a years' time. Mind-boggling. -
WCSF GAME 4 GDT: Red Wings 6 at Ducks 3
NeverForgetMac25 replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Just because someone has a differing opinion on how they feel the game is going to be played out doesn't give anyone the right to tell them to "Get the f*** out of here." Keep those posts to yourself. -
The Great Brett Favre Kerfuffle of 2008
NeverForgetMac25 replied to timothy1997's topic in Other Sports
As a huge Packers and (former) Favre fan, here's my two cents: I think Favre is being a childish, spiteful baby about this whole thing. He hates Ted Thompson (the Packers GM for those that don't know)....so do I, but he's not just sticking it to Thompson if he plays for the Vikings, he's sticking it to every Packers fan that not only idolized him, but also had the utmost respect for him. I know he thinks this is just about getting even with Thompson, but its *not*. While he's off trying to settle a score he's destroying the relationship he's ever had with the Packers franchise. It was a tough enough pill to swallow last season seeing him don another jersey, but to wear the Vikings jersey is something that isn't acceptable for someone in his shoes. Imagine Yzerman heading over to finish his career with the Avalanche to "stick-it" to Holland. It's just not right. As I said, Favre needs to grow the f*** up and let it go, because this is way bigger than just sticking it to Thompson. This is a big "f*** You" to the entire Packers organization and especially its fan base. My note to Brett Favre: Pull this one off and I'll be the first to say "f*** You". Sidenote: This board knows how even-keeled I am, so for me to make the above post should speak volumes about my feelings toward the situation. -
I remember this from last year. Great song and intro video.

Still waiting mindfly......

I'll bite. In your opinion, if not Pavel who should've been nominated that wasn't? This should be good.

Nothing confirmed, but from what I've heard he's out tomorrow night and will be back for Game 5.

Fixed it for you.

Do the refs need a page out of the NFL system?
NeverForgetMac25 replied to timothy1997's topic in General
Aside from losing a tiny amount of flow in the game, I think this is a pretty solid idea. I'd be all for it. While that sounds good in theory, the problem there is that the whistle blew and then Hossa knocked the puck in. With that, you've got the opposition stopping once they hear the whistle, and they could then argue that they could've kept the puck out had they not stopped play. -
NHL Playoffs need to be shorter with less teams
NeverForgetMac25 replied to cboth686's topic in General
How will this be any different than if the NHL were to cut down to 6 teams per conference? If this is our concern, we've got bigger problems. -
Who do you think is the better fighter, Holmstrom or Lilja? Now you want to pin him against a massive Pronger with the sole purpose being to get him out of the game for 5 minutes, yet don't even consider the negatives that could happen. Of course its unlikely that what happened to Lilja would happen to Homer in that situation, but it doesn't mean it can't happen.
-
Homer could also get punched in the jaw, get a concussion and be out for the remainder of the season as a result. Sound familiar? Just because someone has the ability to fight doesn't mean they always should.
-
Good Read....thanks Mike. I love that Babs knows when to push and when to let the players loosen up.
-
He is plus 8 and has 7 points. His plus minus is affected by Red Wing goals that he didn't factor in on as well as goals against. To the OP, I'm not sure what guy you're watching, because Cleary has earned every bit of that spot given his playoff performance thus far.
-
I can't imagine why almost half the players in the league voted him the biggest whiner in the anonymous poll this year. [/sarcasm]
