How about we just wait and see if Bertuzzi plays well enough... He won't necessarily be looked at as highly as Franzen, but with Franzen out he will be looked upon as more reliable to the team's success. If Bertuzzi plays alright, we're good.

The same Maltby that's averaging a point per game? .

I wouldn't mind Biron in Detroit, as a back up for 20-30 games.
-
Chelios, no... He's one of, if not the most successful American born hockey player to ever play, but his prime was in Montreal and Chicago, mostly Chicago. Konstantinov didn't play long enough, but he was still really good... Due to respect, his number should remain unofficially retired for a long time, just not up in the rafters. Fedorov on the other hand, I don't see why his number shouldn't be up in the rafters... He had amazing success in Detroit, won 3 cups, a Hart, Selke, and was the Wings best player for a good 10 year period.

I don't know what is wrong with Pittsburgh fans... They strike me as typical hockey fans who show pride for (yes) a good team, and they aren't biased when they say Malkin and Crosby are the best, because they are.

Personally, I can't stand a lot of Wings fans... I'm not talking around here, because around here SOME of us have a general idea of what goes on in the NHL outside of Detroit. A lot of Wing fans tend to be very bias, tend to think of Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom bar none the best players in the NHL, and just tend to think there's no good hockey outside of Hockeytown. Then again though, I hate Leaf fans because they over-exaggerate how biased Wing fans are, mainly due to hidden jealousy. Also, they give Detroit the littlest amount of credit possible having won 4 cups in 11 years... No Leaf fan has ever told me the Wings have a skilled team, there's always something negative. The old excuse was they overpayed their players in the non salary cap world, then they win a cup in '08, and I'm hearing Leaf fans pull out excuses like "players are getting paid extra on the side." Give it a break... The worst fans around here are Leaf fans, but from some of their perspectives... I can see why us Wings fans get on their nerves as well. Laker, Yankee, and Patriot fans are some other ones that bother me... But I've never really had any heated debates with any of them fans, so it's not worth ranting about.

Not as exciting as BURE, Yzerman, and Fedorov.

It's weird, I always forget about Cleary too... He's a great player, but if a person were to randomly walk up to me and ask me to name all the players on the Wings at the top of my head... I'd probably forget to say Cleary, sadly.
-
2 games in and some fans in Wing nation are probably already comparing them to the 92/93 Sens.
-
I would have been more thrilled with Bure... Bure, Fedorov, and Yzerman would have all been here at once for at least a couple years.
-
He really looked solid out there, and got 4 points in 4 games or so I think... I don't know, I really wish he would have got the job and by how he played, It looked like he deserved it, but oh well.
-
I predict Gustavsson will have the starting job in no time.

Link Well, the Canucks are pretty stupid... This guy played excellent in the preseason, he certainly has the smarts, he certainly has the skillset, and his size is a non-issue... I could understand the Leafs sending down Kadri to develop, but why did the 'Nucks send down Hodgson? He will now tear apart the OHL while having everyone know that he'd be a Calder favourite. Oh well, you might as well just give Team Canada the medal now... Hall, Kadri, Eberle, Ellis, and now Hodgson will all be on that team.
-
Subtract the Steve Moore incident along with back injuries, he would still be dominant.
-
I watched him play a couple preseason games, he is "awful", you're right. Everything Carman says is true, and watching him all he did was tried to do it all himself by carrying the puck into the offensive zone only to have it taken away from him. He showboats like no other, and the only highlight in his career will be his lacrosse style shootout moves he pulled in that one shootout. If he does well with the Isles and becomes a full timer, cool... If things continue to go s***ty for him, It's going to be no surprise.

I think Legace can back up any NHL team... Not to say I'd want him, but he definitely shouldn't be unemployed.

Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade
BeeRYCE replied to Cruiser008's topic in General
He might be ahead, but it isn't necessarily a landslide... Tiger has won 12 majors since the beginning of the decade, and 56 PGA tour wins all together. That's serious business right there. -
Lidstrom selected as hockey's Athlete of the Decade

Sports athlete of the decade would be a pretty tough stretch. Of the 4 major sports, Kobe Bryant is definitely ahead of him. -
I would boycott Holland forever...

Correction: Before their primes.
