Better D than Chicago? Nah... Not only did they lose Pronger, they also lost Beauchimenn, HUGE loss. They have Neidermayer he's still good. They also have Ryan Whitney, but the way I see it, he's a second d man on a s***ty team, and a third d man on a good team. Nick Boynton is a good shut down guy, but that's as far as that goes. Chicago on the other hand, has Duncan Keith... I rate him as a top 8 d man in the league, only getting better (eva rates him 2nd, but meh)... Brian Campbell, while many consider overrated, he's still an asset. Barker and Seabrook will get better... So Chicago is stronger than the Ducks on D? As far as offense goes, Chicago is way better. I don't know how you can say you'd take Getzlaf/Perry over Kane/Toews... Of those 4 players Getzlaf may be the best, but Kane and Toews are collectively better... Corey Perry isn't even really good to be honest, I think Bobby Ryan will be better than him this season. Anaheim does have Chicago in goaltending, but I think the other factors overcome that.

I'd be content with trying McCollum for a Steve Mason-esque approach. I'm convinced he's the next big goalie and in the very near future as well... As soon as next season even.

All around: 1. Lidstrom 2. Chara 3. Bouwmeester 4. Niedermayer 5. Phaneuf 6. Markov 7. Pronger 8. Zubov 9. Keith 10. Weber 11. Green 12. Kaberle 13. Rafalski 14. Boyle 15. KRONWALL Boyle is ranked so low because I'm not too sold on him, never really was... Always struck me as one dimensional d-man strictly for the PP. Number 15 was a toss up between Wideman and Kronwall, but realistically, Kronner has proven more. I can't wait until the future though... I mean watch out for Bogosian, Doughty, Hedman, Johnson(s), Coburn, Burns (had an off season), Marc Staal, and RYAN ELLIS ... Oh maybe Jonathan Ericsson too, why not? Not to say all these guys will have top 15 status, but they will play a significant impact in the NHL, and some will reach that elite status. Overall, I'm pretty pumped on how bright the future looks for defensemen in the NHL.

Not that I'm defending Kane, but maybe the cab driver did something wrong or stupid and for that sake, Kane did not intend to tip him. Maybe the cabbie intentionally pissed him off, maybe said something personal, who knows. Regardless, nothing justifies the physical abuse... THAT'S a different story.

Crosby digs for pucks better than anyone in the NHL.
-
The roster will look something like this (not making up lines, just listing the forwards, defensemen, and goalies)... Forwards Crosby Iginla Heatley Thornton Toews M. Richards Lecavalier Nash Getzlaf E. Staal Doan Lucic Defense Bouwmeester Pronger Niedermayer Weber Keith Boyle Phaneuf Goalies Brodeur Luongo Fleury
-
Oh, and I slightly understand giving the captaincy to Iggy and Richards, but Boyle? Yikes... Niedermayer is the one likely to be the other assistant, hell he may even be captain. I honestly think Boyle is the least likely to get the "A" on the team.

Savard and Spezza aren't even invited to camp... It's kind of retarded, but true.

Marian Hossa finally gets a taste of Stanley - sort of
BeeRYCE replied to SouthernWingsFan's topic in General
I think Hossa will win one with the Hawks eventually. -
Thornton will be there, son. Poor guy isn't even on your taxi squad... And yeah, I think for the grinding forwards, they'll pick Lucic before Cleary, and rightfully so.
-
Question who is the best forward of this decade? I'm talking a combination of consistency, longevity, and superior play... I'd say Iginla.
-
They'll work through it, if it means worry about Kane and Toews, and forget about the rest... It'll still be no harm done, IMO.
-
Ladies and gentleman, Kovalchuk will be the big name at next season's trade deadline.
-
Too many people are trying to justify his actions... In all honesty, I know young SOB's in their early 20's... And I never really heard of anyone assaulting a cabbie, I heard of people ditching cabs, but it doesn't really do harm to the cabbies. Like Billy Madison said: "That's assault, brotha."
-
But mind you... I like Keith, and if Lidstrom retired and we had to make a bold move to get a replacement... I'd take him over a lot of players.

Detroit Red Wings are Miller Chill: It's Dimaline312000's favorite beer.

Hey I love watching poker! I stay sober while doing it too...

I'm definitely not surprised.

Wow, Yzerman ranked 36? Tretiak ranked 52? The only part I'm in slight agreement with is the top 4, but of course, that holds a debate. This list has no credibility at all. This list is also flooded with guys who played well before the first half of the 1900's... What's up with that?
-
Not to say points matter, but from a defenseman standpoint, they do at least a little... But Keith was ranked 20th for points by all defensemen... Mind you, I'm not disregarding his amazing +33, but the fact that he was beat out by 19 other defensemen in total points should give him a slight downgrade in the offensive defensemen department.

To compare the Leafs to an amazing beer like Guinness is a disgrace, but I guess the description justified it.

Lidstrom, Chara, Bouwmeester, Kaberle, Phaneuf, Rafalski, Markov, Niedermayer, Pronger, Weber, Green... I think are all equal or better than Keith, yeah some did have off seasons in 08/09, but it's just an off season, they are still the same players. By the end of next season, Doughty, Hedman, Burns, Bogosian, Erik and Jack Johnson are some players who could fit that category as well. Keith may be the best all around d-man on his team, but he certainly doesn't fit NHL's top 3 status.

I knew I'd open this thread and see something about Vanbiesbrouck's bucket... Let's face it... IT'S UGLY!

Pogge is a bum, his 15 minutes of fame only came when he won the World Juniors with Canada.

This is shocking... Pull him off the cover of NHL10... Put Datsyuk or Zetterberg on it!
