I think Leino will do the best personally.
-
Lidstrom will play until he's 42... I could see it happening. What makes people think Homer is done? Maltby maybe, Draper unlikely... But Homer?
-
Sammy was my least favourite player on the team for the longest time, even with Willy in the lineup. But... These days, I think I'd prefer Billy Bob Thornton over Neil Patrick Harris.
-
It's way too homeristic to say "Oh, Lidstrom without question." I mean, I'd pick Lidstrom too, but there is some debate to this. We're looking at one of the best goalies ever vs one of the best defenseman ever... They both have strong value to their respective teams.
-
Sorry, yes. He has played for Team Canada on numerous occasions.
-
A guy with money that actually knows hockey, and is passionate for it... That statement alone probably makes him better than several other NHL owners.
-
I think Eaves is the type of player that could turn his career around with the Wings organization. He has/had what it takes, he just has to bust out... I really hope he does.
-
I'd put Stastny a little higher, but aside from that, it looks right. Bobby Ryan will be on that list next season, and I think Kane will move up a spot.
-
Not a bad fit at all.

The six popular states... Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and... Pennsylvania? I know the first five are right, but I'm not sure about the last.
-
Also not to mention, some notable players that describe Stevie as an inspiration are Crosby, Spezza, Thornton, Stamkos, Toews, Marleau, etc, etc, etc... Bottom line, Yzerman influenced a lot of the top North American players in the game today. Without him, who knows? A lot of these guys wouldn't be playing.

I like Burrows, like how he plays... But violently swinging the stick at a 19 year old's head in a SUMMER LEAGUE game, is pretty brutal.
-
I don't know if this is a superstition, but I find when I am overconfident about the Wings winning, they tend to lose. This season proved that .

Some "goons" in the NHL are... Cam Janssen Derek Boogaard Donald Brashear Wade Belak Andrew Peters Colton Orr George Parros Raitis Ivanans George Laraque Now tell me, what significant impact do these guys have on their respective team?
-
There was a period in time where I liked Williams on the team... He was a good playmaker, but the last time he was with us... I couldn't stand him at all. Let's face it, by the end of that season, I was happy we got rid of Lang, Bert, Schneider, and Williams.

Yzerman's presence turned the franchise around completely. His leadership and ability to compete was something that the Wings were able to build around, without his presence... I do not believe we have 3, hell... 4 cups in the expansion era at all. Maybe, by some divine miracle, or some other turn of events we would have won those cups... But he is a huge reason why we have the fanbase we do... Not only in the Detroit area, but by all NHL fans in the world. Lidstrom on the other hand? It's a different story. He's not the one who turned the franchise around, but he is the one who helped the back end of course. We have had a solid powerplay for the last 15 years because of him, and overall a solid team due to his presence. However, with all respect due to Lidstrom... Stevie Y had the bigger impact on this franchise.

Phil Kessel is coming off a fantastic season... Honestly, how would this move be beneficial to either team?
-
Filppula, ahh maybe. His role is more important this season (obviously), and the weight will be on his shoulders. In a full 82 game schedule, I predict 60-65 points. This season I think will be his strongest thus far, but enough to be widely known as a breakout "star"? We'll have to see. I'm sold on Stamkos though. The last third of the season, he was hella strong. He has what it takes to be a 100 point player? Will he do it this season? Meh, probably not... But he'll hit 90 or close.

Have people suddenly become Team Sweden fans? If Team Sweden doesn't get Zettterberg... GOOD! That means a better chance for Canada or USA to win gold.
-
P.S... If Lids suddenly leaves, I'd take Kaberle in a heartbeat... I always liked his style and look at him as similar to Lidstrom. Not as GOOD as Lids, but similar style.
-
The Leafs look REALLY good on defense right now, but I'm talking in their own end. Getting rid of Kaberle would be getting rid of any potential quarterback for your powerplay or even breaking out of the zone correctly. Looking at them, signing Komisarek and Beauchemin were signings, and that's considering I forgot they signed Exelby. I'm going to give Burke props, but Kaberle is needed in the system big time.
-
A team like Atlanta needs to take Kovalchuk for all they can... He IS worth it. Wait until he gets to play with Evander Kane in a couple years... Them two will be nuts. I'd build a franchise around Kovalchuk, he's a great player.
-
I thought I was going to open this and disagree with everything about it, but it looks dead on... I'm surprised they didn't underrate Zetterberg like everyone always does. I would have somehow inserted Holmstrom in there, maybe in place of Loui Eriksson, but hey, it's not that off... If at all.
-
Linus Omark and Pjaarvi-Svensson or however it's spelled have shots... At least one of them two will make the team anyway.

Hey, why not a Steve Mason esque year for McCollum next season?
