McKenzie picking the Wings makes me feel really good... The most intelligent hockey analyst alive.
-
I saw this coming from a mile away... Mac-T did strike me as a good, knowledgeable coach though. I think they should hire Peter Laviolette next.
-
Franzen's against Montreal... But all of them are sick, I don't think the Wings ever had a collection of goals quite like these in a season. I think the best is yet to come in the playoffs.
-
Beat Carolina... It was a parody of Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond played during the 2002 finals. Oh, and there was one this year's finals too it was a version of that country song "My Town", but it was changed into "Hockeytown" with a bunch of lyrics cleverly changed up.
-
That was a sloppy variation of Stamkos' goal, and the goalie was horrible... What's with these goalies letting in horrible goals to highlight reel opportunities? (see Ovechkin vs Phoenix).
-
Yes, I realize that not all these teams have a player "valuable" enough to lead them to success, for these such teams we will just say best player. Oh, and just to save a bit of commotion. Mine looks like this (League MVP in bold, runner ups in italics)... Anaheim - Getzlaf Atlanta - Kovalchuk Boston - Chara Buffalo - Vanek Calgary - Iginla Carolina - Ward Chicago - Toews Colorado - Smyth Columbus - Nash Dallas - Eriksson Detroit - Datsyuk Edmonton - Hemsky Florida - Bouwmeester Los Angelas - Kopitar Minnesota - Backstrom Montreal - Markov Nashville - Weber New Jersey - Parise NY Islanders - Streit NY Rangers - Lundqvist Ottawa - Alfredsson Philadelphia - Richards Phoenix - Doan Pittsburgh - Malkin San Jose - Thornton St. Louis - Backes Tampa Bay - St. Louis Toronto - Ponikarovsky Vancouver - Mitchell Washington - Ovechkin

Yeah I see your point, but a lot of people's opinions can revolve around stats as well. A player that contributes a lot of points, or a goalie that get's really good SV% and GAA really do reflect a lot in an MVP type player, and when there are enough stats to look at like hits, blocked shots, +/-, time on ice, and others... It give you a good consensus of who is most valuable to the team.

Okay this is actually really neat... I have basically a connection with McCarty in my family, he's my uncle's wife's first nephew. So basically at the odd weddings or family events he might be there, but I've never met him before... So he was at a wedding my parents were at, and my parents were drinking and mingling or whatever... My mom calls me onthe phone and says "hey there's someone here to talk to you", then some guy says "hey Bryce, what's up" and then he tells me tips on how to be more aggressive or whatever then he says "it's Darren McCarty", I was pretty much in awe. That was the best interaction I've had. I've actually met and talked to Probert a few times as well, he's my dad's friend's close friend.

The other "A" should go to Rafalski, shouldn't it?
-
How not? They play on separate lines and both bring it to the table huge when they are out there. Malkin is just more valuable this season because of his points, Crosby is far above Malkin's defensive ability, and that's not even saying Malkin's bad defensively... But Crosby is very good in his own end. That's ridiculous to say Crosby is lucky to be a top 15 MVP, outrageously ridiculous, and considering Crosby only trails Malkin in points per game by 0.02... It wouldn't be a stretch to say he's more valuable than Malkin, not that points are the only thing that matter, but they seem to be to you.

12 year contract = Zetterberg for C.
-
THANK YOU FOR MAKING SENSE. While Crosby isn't the MVP on his team, but he easily is one of the 5 most valuable players in the league this year and will probably be a beast again these playoffs. In all honesty, I would give the award to Parise or Datsyuk, but realistically it's going to Ovechkin, or a little less likely but very possibly (obviously), Malkin.

I always thought I played like an inconsistent Russian... Nik Antropov.

I actually made a thread like this before, but it was well over a year and a half ago, and thinking about it... A lot of my opinions have changed since then, so for me... Anaheim - Getzlaf Atlanta - Exelby Boston - Lucic Buffalo - Connolly Calgary - Iginla Carolina - Whitney Chicago - Toews Colorado - Stastny Columbus - Nash Dallas - Morrow Detroit - Zetterberg Edmonton - Cogliano Florida - Bouwmeester Los Angelas - Doughty Minnesota - Gaborik Montreal - Komisarek Nashville - Weber New Jersey - Brodeur NY Islanders - Bailey NY Rangers - Drury Ottawa - Spezza Philadelphia - Briere Phoenix - Turris Pittsburgh - Crosby San Jose - Thornton St. Louis - Backes Tampa Bay - Lecavalier Toronto - Kaberle Vancouver - Kesler Washington - Ovechkin ...How does yours look?
-
Lately the best line in hockey is Cammalleri - Jokinen - Iginla... No question.
-
Just because Malkin has more points, DOESN'T mean he's better than Crosby.
-
Okay, I'll say this right now... Z's current goal is overrated. NO DISRESPECT.
-
I'd like to see Parise win it.
-
Yes, you read the thread... This is a topic of what players in the NHL you think will make the Hall of Fame, with one twist... They had to of started their career in 05/06 or later. In simpler terms, which current player do you think will make the HOF that hasn't played in the "old" NHL? I'll name off some guys... Sidney Crosby Jonathan Toews Patrick Kane Alexander Ovechkin Dion Phaneuf Drew Doughty IMO, those are the only guys, but that's why it is a discussion... Bring up other dudes and make some cases.
-
Reading this thread has had me asking this question for a while now... Why has Crosby's status dropped a significant amount since the beginning of this season? He is still one of the best 3 players in the NHL (out of Lidstrom, Ovechkin, and himself) whichever way you look at it.
-
Those involved with the mentioning of Bouwmeester, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Thornton, Osgood, and Tootoo in the thread, clearly didnt get the concept.
-
I don't know how you could say they are not great... I think they are the best.
-
Gotta love discounts... Datsyuk - 6.7M... Should be 8M Zetterberg - 6M... Should be 8M Lidstrom - 7.45M... Should be 8.5M Osgood - 1.4M... Should be 2.5M (at least when he signed) Kronwall - 3M... Should be 4M Holmstrom - 2.25M... Should be 3.5M Rafalski and Hossa are making just the right amounts if you ask me, but they could be making more.
-
There's no reason to say he will be a one year wonder... A 20 year old kid that already had potential who already proved himself on a team like Columbus.
-
Amen to this... This guy is going to be nothing but a beast his whole NHL career. A leader, responsible in the own end, and offensive producer. Nothing but great things to happen in his career.
