Maybe his defense isn't up to par so far, but he is producing offensively, and our record is 4-1-1, which is 2nd in the West. With that said, when we are winning... I don't think any player should be criticized, especially one with 7 points in 6 games.

He's really been breaking out huge with the Stars... Great player. However, I can't stand him, he's a stuck up pretty boy.
-
Wow, he could really pull it off too.

Must have been great to watch.

Okay, this is talked and thought about all the time by Wings fans and hockey fans alike, but I just wanted to go into more thought about it. The top 10 forwards in the NHL (whatever order is uncertain, but these guys are included in whatever order on most top 10 lists) 1. Crosby (1st round, 1st overall) 2. Ovechkin (1st round, 1st overall) 3. Iginla (1st round, 11th overall) 4. Zetterberg (7th round, 210 overall) 5. Datsyuk (6th round, 171 overall) 6. Malkin (1st round, 2nd overall) 7. Thornton (1st round, 1st overall) 8. Lecavalier (1st round, 1st overall) 9. Heatley (1st round, 2nd overall) 10. Spezza (1st round, 2nd overall) It just looks really sweet, and I know everyone knows the craziness of Datsyuk and Zetterberg's low draft pick success, but in comparison to every other top forward in the league, it's just sick.

Okay, loyalty aside, with what we have in the system, how would you make the team better? Meaning who would you cut, who would you put in, and how would the line-up like after it's all said and done? Here's what I would like to do. Put Sammy on waivers (if it doesn't work out, buy him out) and replace him with Helm, scratch Maltby and replace him with Leino, and scratch Lebda or Chelios to put Ericsson in. I think our best possible line up could look like this... Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom Franzen - Filppula - Hossa Cleary - Hudler - Leino (I don't exactly know for sure if Leino plays RW, but it could work out somehow) Helm - Draper - Kopecky Lidstrom - Rafalski Stuart - Kronwall Lilja - Ericsson I love Maltby to death, but his day has ended since post lockout. Sammy and Lebda I think could be replaced with better talent. However, in the real world, I know this can't happen, but IMO, this is the best possible line up we could use with what we have... and I think it looks damn good.

Hudler, Cleary, and a pick would be ideal. Franzen is a beast.

Avery, along with other agitators are some of the nhl's smartest players. They no how to get others off their game psychologically, and they know more than others that it's a team game and sacrifice getting a bad image to help their team. I love Avery and he is good at what he does, he is valuable on any team.
-
Fedorov left because he wanted to avoid being nothing compared to the future of Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
-
I wouldn't trade one of those guys for Crosby let alone both. While Crosby is more able to put up serious points, Datsyuk and Zetterberg's defensive ability combined with their offense is uncanny, not to mention their good sportsmanship.
-
Yeah, Hossa is backchecking well and is playing pretty good on the PK. His offensive skills aren't up to par but it's because him and Datsyuk are trying to make the highlight reels everytime they enter the zone. I completely agree with Nev's line-up on the previous page, Hossa would do fine (better) without Datsyuk because he feels inferior to Datsyuk's prettiness.
-
I love Malkin... I actually feel sorry for him in that picture.
-
Go Wings baby! If the Caps can hold them to only 10 shots, then we SHOULD have no problem winning. 4-1 Wings Hossa, Datsyuk, Hudler, Kronwall.
-
Kipper is still a good goalie, and one of the best. He had kind of an off year last season, but yet still managed 39 wins. Just because he's off to a shakey start this season, and a mediocre 07/08 doesn't completely rule him out as elite. If he does poor this season, then we can talk about him not being a top 10.
-
1. Luongo 2. Brodeur 3. Lundqvist 4. Nabokov 5. Kipprusoff 6. Turco 7. Miller 8. Vokoun 9. Osgood 10. Fleury Guys who could be on a higher level by next season... Price, Bryzgalov, Backstrom, Lehtonen, Garon.
-
Replacing Sammy and Huds for Leino and Helm would be the best thing. That way we could at least *comfortably* afford 2 of the big 3 UFAs.
-
Wow, insane. You know what, it is one game, but usually the guys who have big first games are the unexpected, unheard of ones. With him being a highly hyped rookie and ultimately getting a hat trick first game... I would say he's the real deal.
-
Bourque, Blake, Lidstrom, Chelios, Leetch, Pronger, Niedermayer, Macinnis... It's tough to say he would have won it, but then again, who knows.
-
How close is this to the record low? (If it isn't the record low)
-
Mickey Renaud, Luc Bourdon, and now him? This is utterly horrible. Rest in peace.
-
Here's to 81-1-0!

TSN is only "homers" and obsessed with hockey because they want to make up for the lack of attention ESPN pays to hockey.
