I'd say Crosby/Malkin is better, but by some point whether it's end of this season or next, we could be talking Lecavalier/Stamkos.

I'm no Ducks fan by any means, but how could you say they have no offense? Getzlaf's career is progressing year by year, so many say he'll hit 100 points, or at least very close. Corey Perry with his agitating style and point scoring touch is lethal, and Selanne will be Selanne. Three really good players with some solid depth. Not to say their offense even touches the strength of ours, but they have some good players up front.

Oh, and I honestly think with the "scraps" that Craig Conroy picked, he has a chance to do pretty good. I mean he got scraps and still managed to pull out Chara, Pronger, and Turco. 4 pretty consistant point getting forwards as well (except Cammalleri, which was obviously a biased pick).

I was watching this, and the kind of personality Keith Jones is, he wanted to be bold and make some of the most outrageous picks just so if he happens to win, he'll be the talk of the town. But yeah, what Mack said, they encourage them to go off the board a bit too, but then again, discussion is not so much needed as after every pick, the analysts go at least a minute stating their reasoning. So plenty of TV time is taken up regardless of how bold they are. Hossa first though? I was confused...

Malkin's underpaid because he's still in his 3 year entry level contract and he is making the most possible money with bonuses an entry level player can make, so he should be excluded from this discussion. He will be making Crosby money after this contract is up. Zetterberg is underpaid, yes, but when his contract was given to him, it wasn't AS bad... Still a discount though.

Datsyuk is to Crosby as to what Fedorov was to Lemieux. That's the best way to look at it.

Let's say Franzen gets 80 points this season and Hossa gets 95. Upon that, Franzen will end up with give or take a $5M salary, while Hossa could end up with a similar one as now, perhaps more. Given those circumstances, I'd take Franzen.

I don't know, I really don't see Staal as a special player... I mean he's good and all, but I really don't see him being an elite player even 5 years from now when he is in his prime. By elite player, I'm talking top 20 forward... Yes, I don't think he'll be a top 20 forward in 13/14, that's just me. He isn't a top 20 forward now either the way I see it, if he is, he just cracks the list.
