To answer my own... 1. Who are some players that will hit 50 goals this season? - Iginla, Hossa, Lecavalier, Heatley (Seems people forgot about him), Ovechkin 2. Who are some players that will hit 100 points this season? - Lecavalier, Ovechkin, Crosby, Iginla, Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Thornton, Malkin 3. The rookie of the year will be...? - Stamkos 4. What will be the cup finals matchup? - Detroit vs Philly 5. Will Martin Havlat finally stay healthy for good portion of the season? - I think 65 games 6. Who (other than Lidstrom) has the best chance of winning Norris? - Phaneuf 7. Crosby or Ovechkin... Who will outnumber the other in total points? - Crosby 8. Datsyuk or Zetterberg... Who will outnumber the other in total points? - Zetterberg 9. Zetterberg or Hossa... Who will outnumber the other in goals scored? - Hossa 10. Can the Colmbus Blue Jackets make their playoff debut? - Not this season, but the season after.

I could see ZDH as a line for a good portion of the season. We lose two games in a row with Hossa and Datsyuk and Babcock will be there in no time to put the Eurotwins back together. With that said, it is tough, because powerplay goals also play a huge factor. A lot of powerplays, we'll see D and Z matched with Hossa, and with Hossa being the elite sniper of the three, he'll be the scorer of that line. I think Zetterberg and Hossa will be closely matched in goals and this is my prediction... 1. Hossa - 50 goals 2. Zetterberg - 48 goals The next 3 are hard, but... 3. Franzen - 38 goals 4. Datsyuk - 29 goals (but maybe up to 80 assists) 5. Holmstrom - 22 goals

Didn't read yet, but Yanic Perreault #1?

These two were at the Bluesfest in Windsor for the same purpose about two months ago. Probie's really going grey .

In all fairness, no (great) hockey player floats their own boat, except maybe Jagr, but screw him. Ovechkin only does it as a joke. Avery does it, but he's not great. Gotta love the modest sport of hockey.

I think the truth as to why his number isn't in the rafters is because IT SHOULDN'T BE RETIRED IN THE FIRST PLACE. It's just another number that can't be used and when 5, 13, 30, 40, 91 (sue me!), and more can't be used in the future, the numbers will be even more limited, making that #6 a wasted, uncirculated number. Sorry if I offend Aurie likers here, but #6 should NOT have been retired.

Yeah, but when was the last time a Wing forward stole a series? Oh, that's right... Franzen vs Colorado and Zetterberg vs Pittsburgh. In the new NHL, forward is the prime position. In a top 20 ranking of every player in the NHL, goalies, forwards and defense... Only Lidstrom would be on the list. Pronger, Niedermayer, and Phaneuf would have outside shots at the very least.
-
You don't see players have unbelievable games against Detroit... He did play good though.

Am I REALLY the only one who thinks Crosby is better than Ovechkin anymore? Ovechkin vs Lidstrom? It should actually be Crosby vs Lidstrom. Ovechkin has a monster season, Crosby gets injured, now Crosby is a nobody. Under a year ago today Crosby was in a league of his own... I really don't get this. Crosby - Proven playoff performer, highest career point per game average among active player in the NHL right now, and better defensively than Ovechkin.
-
Number 6 is retired (Larry Aurie), but not in the rafters as per refusal by Ilitch.
-
Too lazy to assemble an all time team, but Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and prime Fedorov on a line would be absolutely KILLER.

Which players do you see either coming out of nowhere or simply having the best seasons of their career? Some I can see... Valteri Filppula - Even with Hossa in the lineup, he'll probably be the center of his line racking up a potential 70+ points. Nathan Horton - Jokinen gone, he's the man now. He probably won't do as good as Jokinen, but he'll finally start to live up to his potential. Sam Gagner - One of the top rookies last season, I think this season he'll be one of the big guys in Edmonton. David Perron - See Sam Gagner. Rick Nash - 50 goals, 90+ points? Very very possible. Patrick O'Sullivan - 3rd season, and starting to get a good grip of things. Very solid season expected. Johan Franzen - He had a huge breakout period... I could see a breakout season. If he could be a beast in a playoff environment, then why can't he do it on a full season schedule? There's probably more, my mind will be refreshed as this thread progresses.

Let's just hope he doesn't get a concussion during the pregame skate.

Lidstrom is the most dominant at his position. Meaning it's unanimous that he's the best defenseman in the NHL, whereas goaltenders many would debate Luongo, Brodeur, Kipper, etc... For forwards many would debate Crosby or Ovechkin, where Lidstrom being the best defenseman is the easiest statement to make. It's tough to say he's the best, but it's debatable. There really is no sport where there is a best anything. Football we have Brady, Tomlinson, Manning, and then a wide list of defensive standouts. In basketball we have Lebron James, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, etc. In baseball we could make arguments for sluggers, pitchers, defensive standouts once again. None of the 4 major sports are there any players in leagues of their own, all hold their own value in equal portions. The only 3 guys in leagues of their own are Tiger Woods, Michael Phelps, and Usain Bolt.

I'm going to draft Ozzy on my fantasy team, no doubt. People will draft their Luongos, Brodeurs, Nabokovs, Kippers, etc, etc... Osgood will be available in a later round, after I draft my point getters and he will be a steal. I play a $50 league, and am confident enough to win the money with Ozzy.
-
Without intent to start yet another Crosby/Ovechkin argument, Crosby does deserve top 3... Number 1, 2, or 3... You choose.
-
Goalies included? If so, Luongo could be slapped in there.

What is Yzerman, chopped liver?

One of the best things about the 08-09 season...

IF and yes, I say IF (knock on wood x 142563672) Hossa becomes a failure, he could very easily become a deadline name. -
Holy hell... With Byfuglien becoming another Iginla, Duncan becoming another Lidstrom, Toews becoming another Yzerman, and they probably consider Kane to be another Crosby, and maybe consider Barker another Bourque... They are going to have quite the stacked team when these guys reach their full potential!
-
Agreed.

I have faith in the guy, but really his only great achievement in his NHL career was his absolutely solid run with the Pens when Fleury was hurt. Not to say it's a bad thing, I mean at 750K, he's a bargain... But we can't really look at 30 games as a reference for such great goaltending. As I say though, 750K, what the hell?
-
Ken Holland doesn't care about goaltending.

If I didn't know better, I would think they were promoting something like "UglyPeople.com: Hockey Player Edition."
