I wouldn't worry too much about this. I mean, remember kids...
-
02/03 and 03/04 was with Datsyuk and Zetterberg. 01/02 and maybe some of 02/03 was spent with Dats and Boyd.
-
Nah, these are the greatest lines ever spoken in hockey... (Warning: Explicit, but hillarious language)
-
I don't know about that... "Trio Grande" owned a whole decade of hockey.
-
Media rates him high... But nobody expected him to crack 100 points in his first season, nobody expected him to win 3 major trophies in his second season, and well at least not too many people expected him to lead the Pens to the finals in his third season. IMO, he has certainly exceeded the critics expectations.
-
Unanimously, the best line in hockey right now is ZDH. Best ever? Well the Production Line is the most famous, and may be the best ever... But can't rule out the Trio Grande Line (Gilles - Trottier - Bossy) for the Isles in the 70's and 80's. The French Connection for the 70's Sabres was MAD chemistry too.
-
If I recall correctly.
-
IIRC, doesn't Cherry practically hate Crosby?
-
For anyone who says Iginla isn't really a great leader, I'll say opposite... He's probably the best leader in the league (of course from what WE see).
-
Then pretty impressive that you guessed 80 something, when I first started watching baseball, I was shocked they play 162 games a season.
-
Yeah, but this was after two seasons of being the best player on a really good team. He was the ideal player for the new NHL, quick and gritty without getting too many penalties. He wasn't stellar this season, but he wasn't bad. He had an off season, I expect things to pick up next season.
-
What Zetterberg has over Iginla - Hands, defensive ability, vision, playmaking, skating What Iginla has over Zetterberg - Shot, release, grit, leadership, goal scoring touch I seriously can't say one is better than the other, because it's apples and oranges. Both players are rightfully at the same elite status in the NHL. But those comments are ridiculous.

Best & Worst Trade Deadline Deals in Wings History

The Wings would have won the cup with Legace that year... How about that? -
That is true... Zach Bogosian too, but one of the two guys might have an NHL role, people were saying they're both NHL ready. Doesn't make them ineligible, but players do put the NHL as first priority. I do recall Smith making the final cut last year though, so he has a decent chance.
-
Yeah, the fact that Crosby is a beast in the playoffs really makes him the ultimate asset if you ask me. Hart trophy, Art Ross trophy, Pearson... Out of any player in the NHL to have played a minimum of 3 seasons, Crosby does have the highest point per game average. Not overrated by any means, he was overrated before 05/06, things have changed.
-
I don't know why people are calling Sundin and Thornton overrated. Sundin has been one of the most consistent players of the last 15 years, and Thornton's constant 100 point seasons really say otherwise.
-
Smith will make it this year... He got the boot last year, but since then has been playing college hockey and just developed more. Hope the best for him.
-
Oh another name that comes to mind when I think overrated is Scott Gomez.
-
Assuming this topic is related to media hype and/or salary, Rick Nash is easily one of the most overrated, salary aside. If he was as good as they say he is, then he'd have the ability to somewhat carry his team, much like Ovechkin. If not carry his team, he should at least be racking up more points then he has been. He should be a 100 point player or at least a point per game player. Rick Nash, in my eyes is overrated. Zetterberg was underrated, but not anymore. Media and hockey fans alike now know Zetterberg as one of the league's elite and the best two way forward since Fedorov in the 90's. The most underrated might be Olli Jokinen, but how are you supposed to be a huge star if you haven't had a taste of the playoffs? I see Jokinen and raise you Brendan Morrow.
-
Boston on that list is a joke. I think they have the 4th highest fanbase in all of North America behind the Wings, Habs, and Leafs. Here in Windsor, I can think of a handfull of Bruins fans at the top of my head. Bobby Orr and Cam Neely have a lot to do with it too.

Why not Brad Stuart as one of the best? Him for two insignificant picks... Not bad at all. -
I love Detroit, but Boston is titletown. Celtics - Current NBA champs and and most all-time NBA championships Patriots - 3 Super Bowls in the last 7 years Red Sox - Current World Series champs, one in 2004, and 5 others to boot Bruins - Ahh, what the hell... 5 Cups! Looks like Titletown, USA to me.

Okay, say if selective hockey nations were to play each other 3 on 3, all forwards, with 2 lines each in a tournament... Which nation would come out on top? Some things to consider are skill and chemistry here. Canada Crosby - Thornton - Iginla Heatley - Lecavalier - St. Louis Goalie: Luongo USA Parise - Gomez - Kane Brown - Drury - Pominville Goalie: Miller Sweden Zetterberg - Sundin - Alfredsson Sedin - Sedin - Franzen Goalie: Lundqvist Czech Republic Elias - Plekanec - Jagr Prospal - Lang - Havlat Goalie: Vokoun Russia Ovechkin - Datsyuk - Kovalev Kovalchuk - Malkin - Morozov Goalie: Nabokov Slovakia Nagy - Gaborik - Hossa Demitra - Satan - Svatos Goalie: Budaj Finland J. Jokinen - O. Jokinen - Selanne Hagman - S. Koivu - Lehtinen Goalie: Kipprusoff Miscellaneous Vanek - Kopitar - Antropov Kostitsyn - Kostitsyn - Zubrus Goalie: Huet Canada would probably win, but the dominance and natural chemistry of Russia and Sweden would make a huge challenge. I think that'd be a good tourny though, who would win? Edit: I added an 8th miscellaneous team instead.

They did one in Vegas... The Kings played the Canucks I believe.

Yeah, I bought a Vancouver Bure jersey about halfway through the season. That summer, he was traded to Florida. Kind of a depressing feeling really, so yeah, just wait and see if Hossa signs longer before you buy it. But I guess a full NHL season... Fall, winter, and spring is a fairly long time period.
