Win it for long time vet Hossa!
-
Oh yeah, forgot Karl Azner. I don't really know if Drew Doughty will step in yet, but he was labelled as the most NHL ready in the draft.
-
Will we have three 100 point men on our team? No, but close. Z and Pav: 100 Pts... Hossa: 90 Pts... Franzen: 80Pts! Will Hossa chip in 50? 40-45 Can we pick up rare Art Ross, Hart, and Richard trophies? With Ovechkin and Crosby around, can't predict it, but never know.

I'm certain this is a joke. If not, provide link. I went on shop.nhl.com and saw notta.

Whatever the price may be, it's a good signing. They have a good crop of top 6 forwards now.
-
Well good to see Quebec natives going to the Habs. First Tanguay and now him. The Habs need French Canadians.

Which teams will be the best...and the worst in 08-09?

What makes you believe that? Losing Hossa, Malone, and Roberts? Three big names for sure, but they just gained Fedetenko and Satan... Losing what they lost just decreased their chances of being the *second* best team in the league, but they will still be one of the best. Crosby, Malkin, and Fleury are only going to get better. -

Top 5 1. Detroit 2. Dallas 3. San Jose 4. Pittsburgh 5. Philadelphia Worst 5 1. Florida 2. Toronto 3. St. Louis 4. Los Angelas 5. Atlanta Breakthrough playoff teams: Chicago, Tampa Bay, and Phoenix -
Very fair, IMO.
-
Trade him to San Jose for a more defensive minded defenseman like Rivet or McLaren.

With all the booing and hatred from the media, I'm surprised McCabe doesn't want to move. I guarantee there's 5 teams out there that would love his service. Plus, with Tucker gone, I'm even more surprised he's staying. Him and Tucker seemed like best friends.

It's good to have teams on the west coast, but limited. I think there needs to be one team in Wisconsin, one team in the Maritimes of Canada, one back in Winnipeg, and one back in Hartford. To replace them two teams, the NHL could remove on of the Florida teams (preferably the Panthers), Phoenix, one of the California teams (I'd love for it to be the Ducks), and Nashville. All of the above are horrible hockey markets from my knowledge.

Obligatory forward lines thread for next season

I'd say do not split up ZDH, but it will definitely be tried... If it works, it works, but I know not splitting them up will be to our advantage -
I'm one to believe Pascal Leclaire is plenty capable to start on any NHL team, just throwing that out there. I'd say they improved, but I don't think enough to make the playoffs. While they improved, there are other non playoff teams that improved even moreso.

I'm not really liking these "let's worry about this in 09/10" style comments. Nobody's "worrying" about this, this is a messageboard where we talk about various subjects. I think this is a good thing to talk about really. I'm an "only worry about next season" kinda guy, but it's still interesting to know if we can actually afford Hossa after next season while at the same time keep Zetterberg and Franzen. If we have to lose Franzen or Hossa, oh well, nothing to worry about, we'll still have a star studded team in 09/10. It's just something to talk about, that's why it's a messageboard people.
-
Not so fond of splitting up ZDH. I'd say second line with Franzen for sure and probably Filppula.
-
Though I'd put my money on #81, I'm surprised nobody has said #17 with the high possibility of Drake retiring.

Forwards 1. Detroit 2. Tampa Bay 3. Ottawa 4. Chicago (Pending on Havlat's season) 5. Pittsburgh Defense 1. Detroit 2. Anaheim 3. Calgary 4. Montreal 5. Chicago (Campbell + strong youth) Goaltending 1. Vancouver 2. New Jersey 3. San Jose 4. NY Rangers 5. Detroit
-
Zetterberg > Kane Datsyuk > Toews Hossa > Havlat Lidstrom > Campbell Osgood > Huet Nope, no rivalry. No one matches us, sorry!
-
Holland gave Babcock a winning team on a silver platter. It better prevail!
-
This sucks... It's only July 2nd. I want the season to start now!

To make it a COMPLETE grand slam of an off-season -

Sign Sundin at 7M for one season... Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Holmstrom Franzen - Sundin - Filppula Cleary - Hudler - Samuelsson Maltby - Draper - Helm (Downey, McCarty, Kopecky) Lidstrom - Rafalski Kronwall - Stuart Lebda - Lilja (Chelios, Quincey, Meech) Osgood Howard/Conklin We have ourselves a team. -
Big time.
-
Sundin would probably be worth 6M, so paying an extra million wouldn't be too bad of a deal considering we could sign him and still have plenty of space left. It also wouldn't effect our chances of re-signing Franzen and Zetterberg next season, since it's only one year.
