I think one of the better GMs in the league might be Risebrough of the Wild. Not to say he has done any bold moves ever, but that's the thing, he hasn't had to. He has a lineup with great depth, no overpayed players, and some good committed players ensuring that he will at least have a decent team for many years to come. However, Holland should be number 1. If the Bertuzzi thing was an issue, come on... At the time the deal was done, everyone was speculating how brilliant of a move it was, and how much of a manipulater Holland was for getting Bertuzzi the way we did. Now we see that Bertuzzi was a "flop" (which I don't think he was), and Shawn Matthias turned out to be a top prospect, it is suddenly a bad move. Holland hasn't done anything but proved his ability to maintain his team as still the best team in the NHL, even in the salary cap era.

Am I seeing black guys can't skate stereotypes here? Remember Nathan Robinson? One of the fastest guys to ever wear a Detroit uniform. PK Subban and Wayne Simmonds both of the OHL, and NHL draft picks... They have tremendous speed too. That stereotype... Invalid!

Windsor is a notorious city for hookers even in Wisconsin? Bahahaha... Man that sucks.

Is Nicklas Lidstrom going to win the Norris Trophy again?
BeeRYCE replied to sputman's topic in General
With Nieds playing in the all star game, I really wouldn't be too surprised if he did get Norris consideration. -
Is Nicklas Lidstrom going to win the Norris Trophy again?
BeeRYCE replied to sputman's topic in General
Yeah, Lidstrom is 99.9% sure to win it. Much like a lawyer and a court case though, it can never be guaranteed. I'm pretty sure it will be Lidstrom winning it with Gonchar and Phaneuf as the runner-ups. -
It wouldn't be too bad, I mean soccer has advertisements on their uniforms. But... I am pretty glad this was a prank... AWESOME JOB!

I spin off way too many threads, but it is a topic that I haven't really seen discussed here for the 3 years I've been here so why not? Note: This is only counting their time with the Red Wings. It's fair to say a guy like Dominik Hasek is one of the best goalies ever, and Chris Chelios is one of the better defensemen ever, but their best days were not with the Wings... So including them in the top 10 seems invalid. Anyways... 1. Gordie Howe 2. Steve Yzerman 3. Terry Sawchuk 4. Nicklas Lidstrom 5. Sergei Fedorov 6. Ted Lindsay 7. Alex Delvecchio 8. Red Kelly 9. Brendan Shanahan 10. Norm Ullman

I love Probert, I know him personally, and he is perhaps the best enforcer to ever play... But his Red Wing career was no more spectacular than guys like Draper, Osgood, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, etc. If you want to make an argument for Probie, you might as well include them guys as well.

James Norris was an owner...

Read my original post. It's strictly based on their tenures with the Wings. Hasek, Hull, Robitaille, Chelios, Murphy, Sittler, Bucyk, Dionne, Coffey, Harvey, Salming... Are all elite names that have worn a Red Wing uniform, but their prime of their careers weren't with the Wings and/or they didn't spend nearly enough time with the Wings.

Or maybe BeeRYCE does... Our average age is 31, while Carolina is second highest with 29.5. BUT... without Hasek and Chelios, our average age would be pretty younger. Too lazy to calculate what the average age would be. If somebody else wants to, use nhlnumbers.com as a source.

Are you lazy or high? I didn't put Stevie above Howe...
-
At first I thought you were some idiot posting something completely irrelevant, but thankfully I read the thread.

Ahh, my bad... I thought it said "McLair." I thought he thought his last name was McLaire or something.
-
McGuire. I like Pierre. Usually he is optimistic about Detroit actually, so I'm surprised by this. I don't know where he gets too old from though, it's quite the illogical statement. Hasek and Chelios, that's it, but at the end of the day Hasek has the mindset of a 30 year old, and Chelios has the stamina of a 24 year old. Oh well, just remember... PHANEUF IS A MONSTER!

I guess not... It might have something to do with me watching not a lot of Dallas. The last Dallas game I actually watched even a minute of was last playoff season. I did watch a lot of Buffalo though. I will say Tomas Kaberle is close to being the best stickhandling defenseman, but his passing overshadows that.

I can't really imagine Stevie being faster than Ovechkin in any point of his career. Stevie seemed like more of raw talent combined with pure determination... Two attributes way more important than speed.
-
Very unbearable to watch. YOU SHOULD BE BANNED FOR POSTING THIS!
-
Not to say Ovechkin is ultimately better than both... But it's pretty obvious he is faster than Stevie, and has a better shot than Shanny.

Scotty as Yoda. The icing on the cake.

Your platform looks fun... Mine, based on active players. Forwards Skating: Marion Gaborik Wrist Shot: Alexander Ovechkin Slap Shot: Jarome Iginla Puckhandling: Alexei Kovalev Passing: Joe Thornton Defense: Sammy Pahlsson Hitting: Dustin Brown Leadership: Brendan Shanahan Faceoffs: Yanic Perreault Vision: Sidney Crosby Fighting: Derek Boogaard Strength: Jaromir Jagr Defense Skating: Scott Niedermayer Wrist Shot: Dion Phaneuf Slap Shot: Zdeno Chara Puckhandling: Brian Campbell Passing: Tomas Kaberle Defense: Willie Mitchell Hitting: Mike Komisarek Leadership: Rob Blake Vision: Nicklas Lidstrom Fighting: Shane O'Brien Strength: Chris Pronger Mind you, Lidstrom excels the most in passing, leadership, defense, and vision... But I had to pick his biggest asset.

Random thread, random thought, but I thought I've been having... I have just realized how good and elite the rookies from 05/06 have already turned out to be, and I thought I should acknowledge this. The Main Three Sidney Crosby Alexander Ovechkin Dion Phaneuf Three guys who will arguably end their career as some of the best ever in their respective categories. The Next Level Mike Richards - Philly's MVP this season. Ryan Getzlaf - Arguably Anaheim's MVP this season. Jason Pominville - Captain of Buffalo now, and their MVP. Brad Boyes - St. Louis' main sniper, projected to reach 40 this season. Zach Parise - Arguably Jersey's top offensive player. Thomas Vanek - A future key asset of the Sabres. Starting to pick up his slack from the beginning of the season and looking like the 7 million dollar player he is. Corey Perry - Perhaps the best offensive agitator in the game today. Duncan Keith - Chicago's best defenseman, All Star this season. Shea Weber - Arguably Nashville's best defenseman, a bright future, projected to play on Team Canada in 2010. Niklas Kronwall - A key defender on our team, the best defensive team in the league at that. Mike Green - Washington's best defenseman. The Goalies Henrik Lundqvist, Cam Ward, Ray Emery, Marc Andre Fleury, Ilya Bryzgalov, Kari Lehtonen, Pascal Leclaire, Ryan Miller, and more lower tier, but still decent goalies. The Rest Jussi Jokinen, Brent Seabrook, Matt Stajan, Brett Lebda, Johan Franzen, Jeff Carter, Chris Kunitz, Derek Boogaard, Marek Svatos, Colby Armstrong, Ryan Whitney, Francois Beauchemin, Milan Michalek, Chris Kelly, RJ Umberger, Keith Ballard, Chris Higgins, Andrej Meszaros, Ryan Suter, and more... All I really wanted to say is we all knew that the 05/06 was going to go down in history as perhaps the best in terms of the top rookies, but I never realized how extensive the group really was. All the names I mentioned are, for the most part, pretty big impact players for their respective teams, and I never realized how many of these key players were in fact rookies from the 05/06 season. Yes, I realize Boogaard isn't an "impact player", but he's a name EVERYBODY knows. Can we say this is the best rookie class of all time... Already? I'd say yes, until proven otherwise.

Or... Cam Neely + Steve Yzerman = The perfect player.
