I saw him on one list. Hated the guy personally, but yeah, one list.
-
When I say this, I mean pound for pound.
-
I think alot of Datsyuk's takeaways come from taking the puck away from defensemen in the neutral zone to deep in the other team's end. Not to say he doesn't take pucks in his own end too, but most of them come on the forecheck, and I think that's the difference. Guys like Pandolfo, Madden, Pahlsson, Fisher, Peca, Draper, Lehtinen, Brind'Amour, whoever... Are better in the DEFENSIVE zone than Datsyuk is.
-
I think Neely fought better, hit harder, played with more grit... That's just me. Lindros was more skilled though.
-
Bigger and slower would kind of go hand in hand.
-
Defense actually evolved into the way it is now probably mid to late 80's... I don't think Neely against weaker defensemen is a valid argument to be honest.
-
I disagree. Neely was a different player. Sure they both have that mean edge with the ability to fight and score goals at top notch, but Neely was more skilled with the puck. Neely could stick handle through a rain storm and not get wet, while Shanahan is more of a pure sniper, and is more stationary. Neely had a better set of wheels as well.

MAD MIKE MILBURY! Love the guy.
-
Harrow... Hahaha... Gotta love tractor races at the fair.
-
Hell yeah I want Kingsville to win! I live like 30 minutes away from there.
-
Take a look at Malkin right now... Okay, combine that with even more defensive awareness, and you have Sergei Fedorov.
-
Well I do agree with that. The Hall of Fame should be a combination of skill AND longevity... Cam Neely had the skill but had his career ended short thanks to a certain Ulf Samuelsson, which is why first ballot for him should have been a no no. However, he was amazing. When he was at his short-lived peak of his career, he was dominant like no other. He reached 50 goals in 44 games, while at the same time, kicking serious ass. I'd label him the best power forward ever, aside from Gordie.

Was there ever a point where we were like INCHES away from getting him, but the deal didn't fall through? I think I remember, but I don't know if I was dreaming. I just want to know to get this monkey off my back.

I can't see neither Z or Dats getting recognition, unfortunately. It will probably go to Fisher this year.
-
It's very simple, him joining the Ducks ruined his value.
-
People have done this on other boards, where you make a bold statement. Anything related to hockey, that you truly believe but others may say what the hell. I'll start... By 2025, there will be 3 other players who have reached 2000 points.
-
I'll make a 6-10 list now... 6. Brendan Shanahan 7. Bob Probert 8. Pavel Bure 9. Vladimir Konstantinov 10. Nicklas Lidstrom
-
It did look like he intentionally put it in... With McCabe putting it in his own net against Buffalo, it looked like he was trying to clear it, this just looked brutally intentional.
-
WAYYY too many lists without Stevie.
-
I hope to see more Cam Neely love. THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER CAM NEELY.
-
I was actually thinking the same thing. Datsyuk has been spectacular, and since his performance last playoffs, I haven't had any complaints. My only complaint with him before was him not doing anything in the playoffs, now that he proved he can play with intensity, I have NOTHING to complain about and am happy to have him for a while.

Jovo has no chance of winning Norris, I can't even see him in the running, but I will say this... He has been nothing but success this season. He is the best player on Phoenix right now, and has been all season. A team that before the season had everyone predicting that they'd be unbearably bad, but they're hanging through, and Jovo has paid his dues on that team. Norris? No chance in hell, but recognition for a rather good season? Yes.
