"A coffee table book... about COFFEE TABLES!" Sorry, first thing that came to mind.

I like "Lucky" Luc Robitaille... Simply because it just describes him so well.

Yzerman's 01/02 playoff run was obviously spectacular and one of the more inspirational performances of not only the decade, but I'd say the modern era. However, Sakic's 00/01 season was amazing as well, I think that falls second TBH.

Would you take Ilya Kovalchuk if Lidstrom retires?

I know a lot of these guys don't think highly of you, but I do agree with your opinions about Kovalchuk being amazing, and Crosby one of the NHL's best and better than Ovie. -

I would take Kovalchuk at around $7-8M... But considering there's a possibility of him signing in Atlanta at a $100M contract for a 10 year period, making it a $10M per year cap hit... I'll say no. But... Maybe I'd take him at a $9M cap hit max, considering he'd be able to snipe a good 60 playing with Datsyuk. -
Yeah, Datsyuk's is very hard to pull off. If you just do it very basic without a proper headfake, a decent goalie will stop you 90% of the time. You have to establish the perfect toedrag and headfake at the perfect time. It's a lot harder than it looks.

Chris Cuthbert is by far my favourite PBP commentator, due to the combination of his knowledge, knowing what to say and when, and of course the tone just strikes me as perfect for hockey. I also like Harry Neale. I do like Gord Miller a lot too... TSN is just perfect in every way, even considering they have Pierre La ******, I honestly think without him it would suck. It's kind of like a movie without an antagonist.

Yeah sorry... You know I meant Malik.

You may THINK he slowed down but Malkin was really skating at his top speed

I also don't know why Ribeiro's "other" shootout goal isn't there though... I mean the one that makes the list is nice, but the "through the leg one hander" vs LA was amazing. Before opening it, I saw Ribeiro's name and thought it was that goal.
-
I've never seen Nash's goal, but come on? I mean I could see why it's nice, but I can think of like 40 shootout goals that have impressed me more.

McCarty basically tackled the guy without a sucker punch. Bertuzzi stalked a guy around the ice for a good while only to whack him full force in the side of the head.

For the following teams who do you think will be captain of each? My picks... Canada - Jarome Iginla USA - Mike Modano Russia - Sergei Gonchar Sweden - Nicklas Lidstrom Slovakia - Zdeno Chara Czech Republic - Tomas Kaberle Finland - Saku Koivu I think the only one really questionable is Team USA... But if Modano does make it (which I think he should), he'll likely be captain. I honestly didn't know who else to pick... Rolston? Tkachuk? Rafalski? Langenbrunner? Guerin?

Should the Wings Allow Players to Play in the Olympics?
BeeRYCE replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Is this sarcasm, or are you dead serious? If you are serious, then I disagree... NHLers are the best players in the world, and the fact that they are considering dropping them from the 2014 Olympics, is just outrageous talk. The Olympics represents the best athletes of respective countries, and the best athletes in hockey are playing in the NHL. If they can't play in the Olympics then it just screws up the whole purpose of the Olympics. I know they didn't play in them before '98... But there is a reason why they brought them in. -
Meh... Decent goal, but nothing too too spectacular. But hey, I still love Hossa, and if fans boo him, I'd be very disappointed.

It's crazy how good Morozov has been doing in the KHL. He has been the best player not playing in the NHL for like the past 3 years. Has he overall just stepped up his game, or is he just a monster on bigger surface? If he were to play in the NHL, I think he'd be a perennial top 20 scorer, if not better.

The NHL team has no say in what the players choose to do internationally, and if they actually did, well then I'd fully disagree. Players want to represent their country and get the opportunity to get a medal, to most (if not all) that's equally as important as winning the cup. -
Come on... No matter how bad of a season he is currently having there is no way anyone should say he'd be nearly as bad as Ledba or Meech. Ward is good, and never a defensive liability. I think he'd be a good temporary replacement for Lilja. Considering he's having a bad season with Boston, a new environment like the same one he won 2 cups with might give him that nostalgic feeling which could be good. We can't expect a bunch of points from him, he's never been that kind of player, but I think picking him up would be beneficial in other areas including the PK. I vote YES for Ward.

I remember him being a tough SOB in Detroit... He would get a puck in the face or something along those lines on few occasions and never lied on the ice, he took the shot and got right back up and skated right to the bench and shook it off or even went right back into play. I loved him in Detroit, oh plus he's a Windsor boy.

Who Was the Last Wing to Score Back to Back OT Goals?
BeeRYCE replied to GMRwings1983's topic in General
Fredrik Olausson -
I would move anybody on the team except Datsyuk... Yes, even Zetterberg. I think Kovalchuk is one of the league's best players... He is on the same level of Datsyuk which is just a short step behind Ovechkin and Crosby. His presence would do any team wonders, and with a linemate like Datsyuk, he can snipe 60.

I do like that concept... If #87 took out #8, it would equal 79 which on the periodic table of elements is the number for GOLD. That is brilliant!
