Getzlaf is alot like Lecavalier. The taller guys who have the ability to make dekes strickly with their long reach and smooth stride. Just because he isn't 5'9", 160, doesn't mean he isn't technical. He's a great puck handler.
-
A nice selection of tricksters there for sure, all will dazzle ya, but I'd say East has the slighter odds here. However, since Getzlaf is probably the most excited to be there out of anyone though, I suspect him to be practicing his move left and right to try to make it worthwhile. I predict Getzlaf to have the best move.

I just wanted to acknowledge is 2 consecutive 4 assist games. AMAZING. I expected this kid to be a front runner for Calder this year, and seemed disappointing throughout the first little while, but now he's picking it up. Continuing his dominant pace, I truly can see him beating out Kane for Calder this year. So do we have a Forsberg in the making or what?

Anaheim - Getzlaf Atlanta - Exelby Boston - Aaron Ward Buffalo - Connolly Carolina - Stillman Calgary - Phaneuf Chicago - Toews Columbus - Fedorov Colorado - Sakic Dallas - Modano Detroit - Zetterberg Edmonton - Torres Florida - Bouwmeester Los Angelas - Kopitar Minnesota - Gaborik Montreal - Price Nashville - Weber New Jersey - Brodeur NY Islanders - Witt NY Rangers - Shanahan Ottawa - Spezza Philadelphia - Downie (Yep) Phoenix - Boynton Pittsburgh - Crosby San Jose - Thornton St. Louis - Kariya Tampa Bay - Lacavalier Toronto - Sundin Vancouver - Luongo Washington - Ovechkin

The weather outside is ridiculously cold, and if I'm home from work/school... I'm here doing nothing, so yeah, I'm that bored... and I think I can speak for others.
-
I used to agree with your idea there, but now I think, meh. I mean it's not like he gets rocked all the time, he has the speed and stickhandling to compensate for any lack of size, and him putting on more weight would just slow him down and his whole style would alter.
-
I think it's not Crosby that would be the factor, it's Roberts being out that is the factor. Crosby will probably be back sooner, Roberts is the veteran leadership that they need in the playoffs, with him and Recchi gone, they should seriously take a look at Blake, maybe even Sundin.
-
If Toews didn't get injured, I'd put him in the running for Calder, but now the Calder winner will be a battle of Backstrom and Kane, with probably Enstrom as the odd man out.
-
I've seen this video a while ago, great skills though. He's finally using them in game to game situations too... Much like the Pens days.
-
It's not hate for Hartigan, it's who cares about Hartigan. I don't hate any player, as a matter of fact the only players I hate in the league are Pronger, Perry, Tucker, and McCabe. HATE is a strong word.

Looks like I'm one of the bigger Rafalski fans here.
-
Zetterberg Lidstrom Datsyuk Cleary Chelios Osgood Holmstrom Rafalski Filppula Kronwall Downey Hudler Draper Franzen Hasek Maltby Drake Kopecky Lilja Meech Hartigan Ellis Sammuelsson (The only Wing I don't like)

So I assume you don't like Dastyuk...?

I always wondered why you were a Wings fan... Is this dated back to the Probie/Kocur days? That's all I can think of.
-
He get's gratitude for what he did, and no one can deny his ability and importance he had with the Wings during the 90's and early 00's, but it still a fact that his number shouldn't be retired. No one will ever say Sergei was meaningless or anything along those lines, but the fact is, he is not liked. It would ruin the point to have Fedorov Appreciation Night if he isn't even appreciated. The whole point of having your number up in the rafters is for success and appreciation, and it's 50/50. Well, a whole falf of that is gone from Fedorov's repitoir and that is appreciation. I say he should be appreciated, but 75% of others say otherwise as you can hear when he touches the puck at the Joe.
-
Well the starting spot in the all star game says otherwise.. Since you had good things to say about the thread, I'll explain why I picked the guys I picked... Anaheim - Getzlaf (He can hit, score, fight, do it all... A solid western hockey boy) Atlanta - Exelby (Amazing hitter) Boston - Aaron Ward (Windsor Ontario born former Red Wing, yep) Buffalo - Connolly (His stickhandling just dazzles me) Carolina - Stillman (Underrated, underappreciated, and still amazing) Calgary - Phaneuf (Hard hitter from the west, gotta love em) Chicago - Toews (If anybody were to fill Yzerman's shoes, it'd be him... and he'd be the one I'd want most to do it) Columbus - Fedorov (Loved him as a Wing, and it's that kind of love that can't be dismissed) Colorado - Sakic (What's to not like about him) Dallas - Modano (His smooth skating and good sportsmanship makes him great) Detroit - Zetterberg (Come on) Edmonton - Torres (Gritty and can score... He'd be perfect as a Wing, if healthy of course) Florida - Bouwmeester (Another one of the western defensemen you gotta love) Los Angelas - Kopitar (Love watching him) Minnesota - Gaborik (See above) Montreal - Price (Such great skill and poise at age 20, bound to be one of the best ever) Nashville - Weber (See western defensemen) New Jersey - Brodeur (Good character, and my favourite goalie ever... Even above all Wing goalies) NY Islanders - Witt (Witt = Grit) NY Rangers - Shanahan (I don't like alot of guys on the Rangers, but it's like Fedorov for this) Ottawa - Spezza (Former Spitfire, did so much when he was here, still love his play) Philadelphia - Downie (Probably the NHLer I know the most personally, he's a friend of a friend that I have met a few times, went to a high school near mine when he played for Windsor, so it's just natural for me to like him... He also has what it takes to be one of the best agitators to ever play) Phoenix - Boynton (Good solid hitter) Pittsburgh - Crosby (Hate him, love him... What he does out there is spectacular. Most exciting to watch) San Jose - Thornton (What's to not like) St. Louis - Kariya (Liked him since the 90's and to this day he's still good) Tampa Bay - Lacavalier (A hockey player's hockey player... Grit and skill, can't not love it) Toronto - Sundin (A guy who deserves so much, but can't get it due to the joke of a team he's on) Vancouver - Luongo (Best goalie in the NHL and will be for a few years to come) Washington - Ovechkin (Exciting and hillarious, great to watch)
-
Well Shanny's case is different anyway. If his number were to be retired by the Wings, then a handful of others should be retired... The whole JLA ceiling would be filled with numbers.
-
No, it isn't him just retiring with the Wings, it's him coming back and putting up decent numbers while gaining the respect back with the majority of the fans. Personally, I still like Sergei, and I wish everyone did too, but they don't. Retiring numbers doesn't ONLY have to do with statistical success, it also has alot to do with being remembered by fans for their integrity along with success. If Sergei had a banner night in Detroit, 75% of the fans would boo while his number was going up into the rafters, and that's just not right.
-
If he comes back to the Wings and retires on a positive note, then yeah. He has earned alot here, but too many fans hate him for this to happen. A lot like the reason why Roy isn't retired by the Habs. If he were to retire today, I'd give it a 90% chance his number will not be in the rafters.
-
That was good, but I didn't like Osgood during that period.
-
Well, I'll say this right now, it could have been avoided. He knew he was going crashing into the boards, but what he did (subconciously I guess) was kept his eyes on the play while crashing into the boards instead of adjusting himself so that he could have landed back or ass first into the boards... He had a good 3 seconds to regain himself. BUT... When your in the game and the speed that comes with it, you're going to, again, subconciously keep your eye on the play and see what's progressing. All I'm saying is it could have been avoided, and it really does suck to be honest. My heart just wants Crosby to win all the trophies again, aside from any of our boys, but I want Crosby to Gretzky it up a bit, and I have don't really know why, but this will prevent him in doing so. Sucks... But time for Malkin to shine. He's sick too.
-
At least it's Iggy over Lidstrom. I mean it should have been Nick, but if anyone were to take it besides him, Iggy would have been the choice. I'm suprised with Vinny though... He's a horrible leader.
-
Yeah, Chara too... I'm surprised somebody mentioned Getzlaf. I'm a straight man, but I'll admit, he's a pretty good looking lad.
