No, there were way too many other combos in the history to contend with. Michel Larocque and Ken Dryden combined for some evil numbers in '76/77, it's hard to contend with the numbers they put up. Larocque - 19-2-4, 2.09 GAA Dryden - 41-6-8, 2.14 GAA Numbers unheard of now, let alone back in those days.

Selkes are usually awarded to "shut down specialists." Okay, Datsyuk plays the PK all the time and has the most takeaways, but his number one priority isn't defensive awareness. His offensive awareness completely outbalances any of his defensive aspects, not to say he isn't defensive minded at all, but Zetterberg would be more of a contender.

This is his first ever stand out season, and it's only halfway through. I don't think that kind of commitment is a great idea.

The same guy that has been our MVP for the last 10 years, Lidstrom.
-
Also for the record, Cherry said Blake wouldn't hurt anyone...?

Meaning any player that is eligible to play in the NHL, but is not for whatever reason. My pick is definitely Alexei Morozov. EDIT: UFAs not included.

I think Downie's intention is to be the center of attention. Rack up as many penalty minutes as possible.

I used to like Downie. Former Spitfire, has had his problems, but he's an agitator. What he did there was just ridiculous. The hit on Mcammond didn't get to me as much as this.

SIR DRAKE FOR PREZ!

Sundin is an amazing player with great poise and great confidence. Maybe the best when it comes to those two. His style of play would be welcome on this team and any team for that matter, and also we need his vocal leadership in the room. What's to stop us from getting Sundin? Honestly. If it means making this team better, I'm for it. 1st round picks in 08, and 09... I'd give up. Alot of our second and third rate players, I'd give up. Sundin is a good player who still puts up great numbers on a team that ultimately just has him. Him on a team loaded with skilled fellow countrymen... He'd be nuts. I'd say we make an offer.

Keith Carney is one of the best one on one defenders in the league. He'd be a good presence.
-
Chelios did it.

Undrafted juniors who are 18 or over, silly willy. Stamkos is undrafted, but he is still ineligible. Eligible juniors are the ones who didn't get drafted their draft year.
-
Perezhogin is not NHL at all anymore. He is property of the REL.
-
Basically players who are considered UFAs, so yeah. I'm talking players in other leagues like minor pro, european elite, undrafted juniors, etc.
-
Eeek. I mean, statistically, sure he was 5th on the team in playoff points, but regardless of that, he was one of the worst players. I constantly remember yelling at my TV, "WTF ARE YOU DOING MIKAEL!" Too many giveaways, missed opportunities, lack of hustle, puck hogging, and in relation to puck hogging... TAKING WEAK WRIST SHOTS FROM THE POINT ON THE PP.

We all know that at least statistically this team is better. A record 30 wins and 41 games, and on pace for another 62 wins. So basically what exactly is the most significant change that made this team a better one then any of our recent teams? - Is it Osgood's dominance? - Rafalski over Schneider? - Our second rate players getting better? (Hudler, Filppula, Holmstrom, Cleary) - Datsyuk and Zetterberg being amongst the league's elite? - Overall depth? What exactly is it? It's a combination of all of the above, but I can't think which one is the most significant.

GO CANADA!!
-
Canada 2-0 after 2 periods. The initial Sweden win over Canada was a total flop if you saw the goals. Today's game is different. Even strength situations look like powerplays for Canada.

Sign for minimum?! A recent 94 point getter signing for that? I realize he's coming back pretty much for the playoffs (If the ducks make it )... But minimum? He's worth maybe over 6M a season, with the playoffs being the most important part, that should be cut in half.

Babs loves Sammy. It's pretty evident considering he gets the PP time he clearly doesn't deserve.
-
Am I the only exception to this?
-
This has never really been talked about, but junior hockey is some great hockey. Weather it's college, OHL, WHL, QMJHL... These kids rule. My favourite team... The Windsor Spitfires. I almost like them as much as the Wings. and TAYLOR HALL IS THE FUTURE. Watch.

Damn, Crosby's first NHL season and he already had a city named after him in his province?
