Kopitar is pretty speculated, can't argue that. Olli I assume? Jokinen, is the captain of Florida let's not forget, but he wasn't that great pre-lockout, so basically he has only found his game a little over 2 seasons ago. Savard is the worst defensive player around, end of story. He gets points, but doesn't contribute in his own end. Sydor I think might be overrated. He doesn't have a goal yet this season, and only 2 assists. Sure points don't matter for defensemen, but to be a complete player and recognized by the media, points are a part of the issue. If Sydor made highlight reel hits and blocks nightly, then he might be rated as he should be (Exelby and Volchenkov are perfect examples) Stillman I'll agree though.

You know what, I was thinking of good stick handlers and my list didn't feel fulfilled, I knew there was someone I was missing, and Conolly was that someone. He might in fact be the most dazzling North American stickhandler in the world.

The way he's leading the pack and the way he's dressed, Hank reminds me of John Travolta in Grease in this pic.
-
Just clarifying, that's isn't number 37 he's wearing, right?

With all due respect, eva, but I find it hard and odd to include Joe Malone in any all time lists. I mean he was good, but his era was also weird. It was like basketball sometimes, scoring was back and forth. Him averaging 1.5-2 goals/per game was the best at the time, but... I don't even know how to explain it. His career was from 1917-1924, an era that hockey wasn't even really hockey. Trust me, I know, I'm 108 years old.

Richter was an elite goaltender, but not for long enough. His only really magnificant and noteworthy season was the year they won the cup. His last 6 years he was an under .500 goalie who missed the playoffs every single one of those last 6 years.
-
Him going to Phoenix would really help them out. That pick up alone could very well turn them into a playoff team. I don't know though, I could see Elias getting captaincy taken away because he wasn't a good one. When they first gave him captain I kind of scratched my head. He's the best offensive player on the team, just not the best leader.

I don't even know if it's needing another reliable scorer. Datsyuk and Zetterberg score a lot, then we have Holmstrom, Hudler, Cleary, Filppula, etc, etc to get every other goal on a regular basis. With all those names mentioned, what do they not have in common? None of them are "vocal" leaders. We have Draper and Maltby for leadership, but I feel we could use offensive minded leaders, which is why I wouldn't have at all minded picking up Mark Recchi.

The Bertuzzi/Moore incident should be... WATER UNDER THE BRIDGE.

So many things wrong, I don't know where to start... But, on forward Messier and NEELY over Gretzky? No sorry. Not including Howe, but instead, SELANNE AND BURE? No sorry. The biggest thing about this list is not even including ORR, it's impossible. Now Richter over guys like Sawchuk, Dryden, Plante, and others? I know opinions are opinions. Sure it's arguable to consider Lemieux and Yzerman over Gretzky depending on your criteria, it's arguable to consider Hasek the best over depending on your criteria, hell it's even arguable to consider Lids the best, again, depending on your criteria. But what in the hell is your criteria for this list?
-
I knew I'd single handedly turn this into yet ANOTHER goalie debate, . My apologies. I'll follow through with eva's initial post... Center: 1)Gretzky 2)Lemieux 3)Yzerman 4)Messier 5)Sakic... (Crosby in the making) Right Wing: 1)Howe 2)Richard 3)Bossy 4)Lafleur 5)Jagr... (Kane in the making) Left Wing: 1)Hull 2)Lindsay 3)Robitaille 4)Bucyk 5)Mahovlich... (Ovechkin in the making) Defense: 1)Orr 2)Harvey 3)Lidstrom 4)Bourque 5)Macinnis... (Phaneuf in the making) Goaltending: 1)Sawchuk 2)Roy 3)Plante 4)Brodeur 5)Dryden... (Price in the making)

I'd say the 85/86 team was better. Most of the players you mentioned for the 92/93 team are just sub-par kind of players every team has/had. In all honesty though, I'd say the only goalie that really carried his team and made a living out of it was Dominik Hasek in Buffalo. You can say Luongo in Florida, but nothing happened there, just good SV% that's all.

I think Roy playing a long time and picking up all those stats has a lot to do with him being the best. More importantly, Roy revolutionized the game for goalie on so many levels. The pioneer of the butterfly style has made goalies the most crucial part of pretty much any team in the NHL for the last 20 years. Also, him picking up these cumulative stats as you say proves that he has been consistant over his entire career. Three Conn Smythes really doesn't look bad on his behalf either, I mean winning the cup is what it's all about right? It just proves how crucial he was on all his cup wins, especially the 3 times he was MVP. Roy is just overlooked because he's an *******, but that shouldn't change his recognition as arguably best goalie ever, and unanimously a top 5. By the end of Brodeur's career though, it's very possible and likely he could pass Roy, but at this point Brodeur still isn't ahead of Roy, just not yet.
-
Yeah, I'm pretty much inclined to agree with everything here with maybe minor changes, but a major one is not including Roy. I hate the guy, at one point I wanted him to die, but his ability is undeniable. I'd put him maybe number one all time, but putting him behind Plante and Sawchuk isn't bad either, but not including him in top 5 is a travesty.

Borje Salming wasn't THAT good. He'd probably be a top 5 on a most INFLUENTIAL Euro list, but definitely not top 10.
-
1A. Lidstrom 1B. Jagr 1C. Hasek 4. Kurri 5. Fedorov 6. Stastny 7. Forsberg 8. Bure 9. Sundin 10. Selanne

Neidermayer is supposed to come back this month right? If he does, then they will reign supreme again. Neidermayer = value on any given team.

Canada Announces 2008 World Junior Selection Camp Roster

No Windsor Spitfires. Anyways, it's going to be a good team. Hard to imagine them not winning the gold when you have Turris, Tavares, and Stamkos... Along with two future elite NHL goalies. -
This question has been asked before, but probably like two years ago, so I again just want to see who the most popular non Red Wing player is around here. A few of mine are Jonathan Toews, Alex Ovechkin, Jason Spezza, and Shea Weber. You?
-
I love how the second leading goal scorer in the NHL is on the worst offensive team. Just mind blowing.
-
They would be so better with Bobby Ryan. Or even give former U or M star Andrew Ebbett a shot.
-
I'd say that looks pretty good. There are guys on teams that don't go into alot of shootouts. If Zherdev had more attempts, he'd definitely be up there.
-
Well, I meant active players... But if you want all time, Lemieux is easily my favourite player. He was my idol. With Steve Yzerman being my all time favourite, Lemieux is second, Red Wing or not. EDIT: MARIO, NOT CLAUDE!
