Okay, I've always been a big Crosby fan, Crosby biased, and I still think he has been the best NHL player since 2007. With that said, he has been on a hot streak, found his scoring touch and is approaching his game in even more of an effective way. His point per game average is 6th in the league and he is currently third in point scoring, but that is bound to go up, seeing as it already is. He is only going to get hotter, and guys like Gaborik and Kopitar will fall gradually whether it's injury or just a cold streak, Kopitar already has. I expect Thornton to stay high in scoring, but I think he'll stay at pace while Crosby will eclipse his current pace. So with all that said, I'm about 90% sure Crosby is winning Art Ross this year, assuming he stays healthy. Am I the only one?

It looks like he hit a wall.

Burke at #3? Okay first off, he wasn't great in Vancouver, just extremely outspoken. Next he INHERITED the Ducks while making their whole situation a mess, and with just under a season under his belt with the Leafs, he blew their future and potentially getting Hall or Seguin by acquiring Kessel. I do agree with the rest of the list though, with the exception of Jay Feaster being there.

Gretzky, Howe, Tretiak, and Salming divison... I don't know, something about that made me die of laughter.
-
I certainly think he's better than Malkin, doesn't even have to be from a "most complete player" standpoint, his offensive skills alone are better than Malkin's. The thing about Crosby is I'd give him a top ten (maybe even five) spot in every offensive category... From shooting to passing to stickhandling.

USA? Ohh wow. Hockey is THE sport in Canada. I guarantee 75% of Americans still think Gretzky is playing. Hey... I'm not dissing the country, I applaud the other 25% who have a well rounded knowledge of the game.

I think a new style Yzerman jersey would be sweet. I mean C on the right side with number 19... Just unique as all.

BUT... Came back in at #1 I do agree with this list for the most part, and a lot of these kind of rankings do have way more far fetched views. I honestly think the only problem with the list is #2... Make slight changes, as in dropping Quenneville a few spots and putting the rest of the guys up a spot, and you have yourself pretty quality thought out rankings. Hell, maybe it's me being biased because I'm a Windsor boy, but Quenneville is a great coach and often is the key behind teams with a rather mediocre squad in front of him. He's pretty responsible out there, yells at refs when things aren't right, but doesn't cross the line. Do I think he deserves number 2? No, but he does deserve a spot in the top 10, maybe top 5.

It might be... Regardless of that though, a lot of players will be abandoning their NHL teams to play for their country.
-
Simple, who are the award winners at the first quarter of the season? My picks... Hart - Anze Kopitar Norris - Duncan Keith Vezina - Evgeni Nabokov Lady Byng - Brad Richards Calder - John Tavares Selke - Ryan Kesler Adams - Joel Quenneville

I LOL at overspending on Z and Franzen... There are no 2 underpaid players in the league right now. Zetterberg - 6M, should be at 7.5M Franzen - 3.95M, should be at 6M
-
If he returns by the Olympics, it will probably be very limited ice time with most of it being on Sweden's PP. I don't think he'd re-injure his knee in that regard, but it's still possible of course.
-
Thornton should be 2 or 3, seeing as he has the most points since 2000.
-
Did they use Olympic sized rinks in Salt Lake 2002?
-
Kane is the second best American player in the NHL only behind Parise.

This one I did well on... http://www.sporcle.com/games/kmad/topredwings I only missed 2.
-
So help me (I'm) bored... No it's true I am.
-
I'll predict a 45 win season... I mean they are 11-6-4 and improving, and if they are slumping down the stretch, we can only cross our fingers for Franzen's return. But meh, a playoff miss is a definite no... However, not winning the division title is very possible, but fine with me.

Surewhynot's roster looks very solid, and I think that's very close to the final roster they will announce. A lot of people pick Canada, Russia, Sweden over them in a heartbeat, but I truly think the USA is equal to Russia and Sweden, but not quite as good as Canada (not trying to be biased). It's going to be an entertaining Olympics that's for sure... Finland, Slovakia, and the Czechs might have good shots as well. But yeah, I like watching the American's play, it's a very uptempo transition style game with guys that can make magic in the offensive zone. Goalies will hang in there as well.

I don't think it will do much for either team, but yeah I agree, Minnesota got the better end... It just won't significantly improve either team. Latendresse is quite awful... He's a big body, doesn't get too many points, and doesn't even have that great of a physical game to compensate for it, he has got his nose dirty, but nothing really fascinating. Pouliot has great potential and it just takes a different atmosphere for some players to demonstrate that potential. Either way, just a fairly insignificant trade... It kind of makes you wonder, did Montreal have future considerations from the Wild or something?

Detroit's reaction to the Habs jerseys tonight
BeeRYCE replied to zetterthancrosby's topic in General
Not half as bad as the "pajama striped" jerseys. -
I love watching the Hawks. Thanks for reminding me it's on. Since UFC is a no go tonight, I'll check 'er out.

The others were challenging like the all time Hart and Art Ross winners... I knew close to everyone from the 60's and beyond and probably missed like 2 answers overall from that era... But then you're looking at guys like Howie Morenz, Newsy Lalonde, Joe Malone, Milt Schmidt, etc, etc, and honestly... If a person would be able to get close to perfect in that regard, you know some serious hockey.

112/120 on the top scorers .

It's the fact that he had the presence of mind to do that in a last second attempt. The desperation and determination to capitalize on a missed opportunity. It's not like he figured "oh, I'm just going to fall and bat it in to make highlight reels." No... It's all about presence of mind, and that's what separates the average players from the great players. Luck? Is it a coincidence that the first overall pick did this, or what Tavares did last year in the World Juniors, or what Ovechkin did against Phoenix? Presence of mind and hockey sense.
