All our star players are performing at a satisfactory level and beyond, there is no point in fixing what isn't broken. Kutcher? I think I should call you KELSO for this remark.

Exactly my thoughts.

13-1-0... They're going to go 77-5-0 for sure! Nah, they'll slip a little bit. The thing that makes that team so good is depth. Like it's not even Heatley, Spezza, Alfredsson... It's everything else. Eaves, Vermette, Fisher, Kelly, Mcammond, Foligno, Donovan, Neil, along with defensive defensemen and offensive ones too. Oh, did I mention two stellar goalies? I just find it hard to imagine a team like this in the salary cap era.

Only Chris Chelios would survive that.

All his equipment is border line legal, but don't you all remember in the playoffs last year, commentators saying that his chest protecter kind of expands when he goes down because it pushes up off his pants. So his equipment is basically only legal when standing up.

Just for you, I hope the Ducks win too!

The combination of the lawsuits, suspensions, fines, and being under the hostile media/fan microscope really got him what he deserved... AND THEN SOME. I think it's unfair for people to say he's a loser and hate the guy, he has been depressed for years now and it really gets to him. Those tears he shed weren't fake, and in turn the punishment was real. He got what he deserved and I think we, and Steve Moore for that matter should move on.

With all this being said... I honestly do not think that this Bertuzzi hit was not the worst incident the NHL has ever produced. There's been plenty of sucker punches in the NHL, probably a couple to a few a season, this one was just unfortunate. Unfortunate in the sense that Bertuzzi is an ogre, and his brute force combined with him/guys landing on top of him resulted in a very serious injury. Point being, if he just sucker punched him and kind of skated away, yes he would have got suspended, yes he would have paid the consequences, but I honestly can't say that it would be the most infamous cheap shot hockey or any sport for that matter has ever seen. Back to me saying that this wasn't the worst thing... I honestly don't think it was. I don't condone these kind of incidents in any manner either, I play hockey and I'm a very clean hockey player, but I don't think this was the worst. Jesse Boulerice, Chris Simon, Marty Mcsorley, and was it Komisarek in the AHL that swung his stuck at another guy. I think all these incidents were worse, or at least looked worse. Bottom line, if Bertuzzi and all of those other guys didn't pile up on Moore, it wouldn't have been as bad. Looking at that video again, it was the initial hit to the ice that really did do it.

Chris Cooley FTW

Could the Lions have the best wide receiving core in the entire NFL? Furrey, Macdonald, Williams, Johnson, and Walters... come on now!

I don't know... I think a strong performance would increase the BJ's, right?

While it is fair to say Bertuzzi was responsible for the broken neck, I don't think he was entirely responsible. Bertuzzi's punch knocked him out, causing him to be dead weight thus when guys fall on him, he is unable to protect himself in anyway. Usually dog piles in football are different, the guy getting piled on usually is aware and able to protect themselves whether its using the arms to protect them or not. Not to mention landing on grass/turf with a bigger helmet is alot more safer than landing on ice with a less protected helmet. A punch in the head usually doesnt break one's neck unless it was Mike Tyson punching an old lady. Bertuzzi's punch maybe caused him a concussion and what not, but I think it was in fact the pile up that did more damage.

Nah, this guy could be the turning point of the franchise. He was drafted 8th overall for a reason. The question I think about is, who will be better... Carey Price or Pascal Leclaire, because these two goalies are the goalies of the future.
-
I just think despite all the problems, Darren McCarty wasn't meant for the new NHL, especially playing with a different team.

We're playing Nashville, a team we nearly double in points, I'm not really all that worried.

Ilya Kovalchuk scores 3 goals in the 3rd period tonight..

Kovalchuk is crazy. As a matter of fact, all 1st overall picks currently playing in the NHL right now are NUTS. Scouts know man, scouts know. -
Why Are the Red Wings So Good Year After Year?
BeeRYCE replied to livediehockey80's topic in General
I'd say Nicklas Lidstrom... I'm going to be scared when he's gone, but I trust in Datsyuk and Zetterberg, and hopefully Howard. -
The Wings are now off for 6 days, so enjoy this image while it lasts. Crosby's a comin'.

Kid looks a little like Jarkko Ruutu.

Zetterberg says he wants to spend his whole career in Detroit

Try and stop this team... Lemieux - Gretzky - Kurri Bo. Hull - Yzerman - Howe Ovechkin - Fedorov - Bure Kariya - Hawerchuk - Selanne Orr - Macinnis Lidstrom - Robinson Coffey - Stevens Roy Sawchuk JUST TRY!

I think that's a very wise move actually. To not be confident in yourself leads to simply not scoring, and not scoring means it effects your team. He could be selfish and just take the shot regardless of how unconfident, and ultimately screw his team over, or he could realize that there are 20 other guys on the team, some of which feeling more confident, allowing one of them to take the shot in his place. Him not participating in a shootout is him realizing he wants a team victory.

Yeah, don't mess with a 10-2-1 Wings team at this point. Also, Hossa is a legitimate top 10 elite NHL first liner, we don't need someone of his class. A good second liner would work nicely, someone maybe worth $3-4M max.

Nice link. I forgot... Hasek with Buffalo... Anyone?
