I think he has already clinched best Swedish player ever, as far as European goes, it's a very tough call between him and Jagr.
-
Well that's the least thing that caught my eyes. Take a gander at his post, Isles over the Pens seems to be most likely scenario.
-
I think Datsyuk should be obligated to give his number up.
-
There's no denying that. 3 more good seasons would put him up there, Norris wins or not.
-
Just making sure, this IS a joke, correct?
-
I would consider Brian Leetch one of the five best offensive defensemen ever.
-
Detroit needs a number 61, that's where the goods are.
-
The thing with signing this guy is it would probably lead to a multi-year contract at 3.5-4M per season. It would effect us in signing Z.
-
Yes but second (or even first!) line worthy?
-
The guy played one season in the "O", I cannot see him even making the pros.
-
Hahaha. It's in alphabetical order, and there is no team beside his name. I see where you made a mistake. However, Selanne going to Buffalo would really make alot of sense, although I cannot see it happening.

Howard might play 5 NHL games this season, I have a feeling he'd do pretty good. I still wish Howard would have played those games that Macdonald played, I mean I wouldn't see Howard posting a 1-5-1 record with .872 SV% and 3.46 GAA. Awful.

Some players are Energizer Bunnies while others play the role of dollar store battery rodents.

If Yzerman scored 215 points that season, he wouldn't be a Selke candidate. As I said, Gretzky had no time to demonstrate defensive ability. Averaging over 2.5 points in some seasons isn't no walk in the park. The average all star forward gets a little over 20 minutes a game, 25 to 30 shifts, imagine, during that rather short time on ice, Gretzky was racking up points every 5-10 shifts, and those other shifts were spent creating/getting scoring chances. Note: Yzerman is my all time favourite player, but not in a million years would I put him ahead of Gretzky (or Howe, Orr, and Lemieux for that matter).

They sit in the same prediciment as Ron Tugnutt and Steve Shields. All of the mentioned goalies aside from Potvin all played pretty poorly prior to the lockout. I guess it's just a matter of there being other fish in the sea. Younger goalies are coming in and seemingly getting better and better. At the end of the day, there are really only 60 that are truly designated to play games in the NHL. I guess those other 60 goalies caught the eye of teams more than Potvin and Dafoe did.

Sakic is currently 38 years old. As of now, he is probably undisputedly a top 20 of all time player, between number 15-20. This season may be his last good season, and I can't see him posting up 100 points again, especially with Wolski, Smyth, Stastny, and Svatos potenitally posting decent numbers. I don't think the one or two seasons he has in front of him will clinch him a top 10 spot.

For being a non fighter, Sergei held his own.

I disagree. Legace played great last season while he wasn't injured. 23-15-5 with a 2.59 GAA and .907 SV% while on a team like St. Louis is phemononal. Legace will probably do good, will probably start the season off nicely, but the time he takes a break, Toivonen will probably do good and will start more than expected. It won't be Legace's failure that will turn Toivonen into the starter.
-
Not surprising that Toivonen left the Bruins, because their depth is unreal as well, but yes it is surprising that he went to the Blues.
-
Crosby will probably average 150 points per season for 10 years.
-
The playoffs were talked about alot on here, but not the season. What was your favourite moment? The only thing I'm thinking of is the Zetterberg hat trick, and Jason Williams getting traded. What was yours?

I still don't get how you can score nearly 3000 career points, 3 200 point seasons, get more total assists in a season than anybody (except Lemieux) can get points, and still not be considered the best ever. With getting 215 points in a season, I don't think he had time to be defensive or physical, he was too busy SCORING.

You're right, I honestly forgot Francis's Selke. As for Jagr feeding off Francis's success. I'm inclined to disagree. 3 of his 5 Art Ross trophies were WITHOUT Francis, 2 of which without Lemieux. During the late 90's, Jagr was the Penguins. The last 2 seasons with New York, he was the Rangers, with the exception of Lundqvist of course.

Okay, everybody, take a walk back to memory lane and think about how AWESOME Larry Murphy was for us. Him and Lidstrom had that natural chemistry, he was a huge part of making our powerplay notoriously deadly, and was just overall effective. Could Brian Rafalski do the same thing? The way I see it, Brian Rafalski is another Larry Murphy. He is valuable on the PP, and one of those playmaking defenseman with awareness in our own zone. If he develops that natural chemistry with Lidstrom like Murphy did, I don't see anyway in stopping us. I just had to start this thread because as I thought about it, I pictured Brian Rafalski being another Larry Murphy, which is a very, VERY good thing.

Francis is more one dimensional, and his point per game average isn't near Jagr's. Jagr has 5 Art Ross, 2 Lesters, and 1 Hart under his belt.
