If Niedermayer doesn't retire and/or Selanne re-signs... Extending Dustin Penner would be out of the question for them.
-
Yeah, I agree, but potential to reach #2 in all time scoring should heighten that status.

Rene Bourque .

Would it be a stretch to say Jagr might end his career as one of the top players? He has five good years ahead of him in which he may average 100 points per season in every one, which COULD inch him close to 2000 points. It's VERY possible. Not to mention his point per game average is one of the best ever. People hate him, but when it comes to the best of all time, he is pretty underrated.

Regular season pal, regular season.

ESPN is absolutely great in covering MLB, NFL, and NBA. They cover those 3 sports in an absolutely wonderful way. The fact that they don't care about the NHL is pretty devistating though (obviously). But hey, I don't care... I live in Canada, TSN REPRESENT. In ESPN's defense though, I bet fans of other sports are often in disbelief how biased TSN is towards hockey, in which they are.

You sound like a true hater, but would you disagree with the fact that we more than likely would have beat Anaheim with Schneider in the lineup?
-
Schneider at 5.625 isn't that bad... For 2 seasons at the tender age of 38, that's where it becomes a question.
-
As legit as they come? Yeah, maybe for you, but not for us...

I'm not comparing Murphy to Rafalski saying their the same player, I'm just thinking if Rafalski can be as effective as Murphy and help the team in a significant way. (2 cups, wink wink, nudge nudge )

Something tells me that 4M is a discount for Penner. Yeah, he didn't score 100 points, but he seems offly gritty already, with point production having the potential to go uphill. Plus, with the salary cap max at 50.3M... 4M doesn't seem like a whole lot these days.

Yzerman is better than Lemieux? Get real.
-
I agree to an extent, but it's a million times better than paying Bertuzzi and/or Lang 4M.
-
Oh, I wouldn't say that. They both were equal in skill level, in terms of playmaking, finding the net, etc. What Yzerman has up on Messier is his defensive ability and heart, BUT Messier has physicality on Stevie, and physicality is a pretty important. I only rate Stevie higher because well I'm a Wings fan, and the fact that I'm a huge fan of the defensive aspect of the game. Fans of the more hard nosed players would pick Mess. It's apples and oranges with Messier and Yzerman, at the end of the day, they're both at the exact same level.
-
Awards shouldn't even be included with Stevie because as I said, he was in an era where Gretzky and Lemieux were winning them all. Unlike them two though, he won something also pretty valuable, SELKE.

Kipper to be extended before the season is over.

How is Nabokov looking the other way?
-
There's questions in brackets right beside the name. You're anti Wings remarks are not welcomed here. There's a certain line between being a homer and being logical. When being logical, it would take tons of explaining to easily include Yzerman in any top 10 list. Including Yzerman in a top 5 list is homeristic, including him in a top 10 list is logical.

LetsGoPens seems like a pretty good forum. I was reading along, good fans.

I have a question though, may seem kind of obvious, but I'm not 100% sure. Will all jerseys have the NHL logo on the neck?
-
Finally, Phoenix does something to fit their needs. Now they need to address 1500 other needs.
-
Yzerman never won an MVP award because of the fact that Lemieux and Gretzky were winning them all during his time. You can't use that against him. During his time, mid 80's to early 90's... He was the 3rd best player, right behind Gretzky and Lemieux.
-
I remember this.
-
Fun fact: Lemieux had a higher career point per game average than Gretzky before he came out of retirement. Probably before 03/04 for that matter. Lemieux could easily be recognized as the best skilled player of all time.
