If Shanahan spent the rest of his career with Detroit, I think for sure, even if those last seasons were mediocre. I wouldn't be mad if they did retire his number, but I'd also be extremely surprised. I've always been a big fan of him, he was one of my favourite Wings for a good period of time, but it's a damn shame that we won't see that Irish bastard's number in the rafters...

I always loved Forsberg's style, the fact that he plays a "pretty" game with a hard-nosed style is very rare... But very effective. For a good 4 year period, I considered him the best player in the world (2000-2004)... These days, I truly think Forsberg can be effective given he doesn't go to a team with not a lot of weight on his shoulders and doing his own thing. If we bring him in as a 2nd line center, regular on the powerplay, I think he will contribute and he won't be a liability in anyway down the stretch. Let's face it, just a year and a half ago, he returned to Colorado and produced during the time he was in the line-up... That wasn't long ago. He's also 36 years old, same age as (still effective) players like Alfredsson, Kovalev, Holmstrom, Rafalski, Stillman, Rolston, Niedermayer, and younger than a good group of guys who are still doing their thing. So, it's not unlikely for him to come back and be effective, given the weight of the world isn't on his shoulder, and a fair price is involved.

So far this season, we have seen many players contributing that have never really contributed THAT much before in their own rights. Not to say the following players aren't good, it's just a fluke... But no matter how good they're doing now, there will be downfalls. Now I'm going to name off players that are doing great now... Anze Kopitar (He's great, but best in the league great?) Dustin Penner Vinny Prospal James Neal Craig Anderson Brooks Laich Wojtek Wolski Rich Peverly Alex Goligoski Jonathan Quick Jonathan Ericsson (Threw him in there for Red Wing content. This thread won't get any contribution without the mention of at least one Wing) These are players that are playing far beyond expectations... But which ones will remain consistent and which ones will hit a downfall?

He's key in shootouts, that's about it.

He never reached a point per game in the OHL, which is why it's so shocking that his point production is virtually identical to his OHL stats (just under a point per game).

There are a lot of fat coaches in professional sports... Plus, Boudreau happens to be one of the best coaches in the league since his Jack Adams winning year.
