Jason Allison is just another Robert Lang.

I have a question. What retired NHL player would best represent a "penalty killer of the year" award? I would love to see that award. The NHL doesn't need more awards, TBH, but penalty killing needs to be respected.

Invent your own trophies. Nothing serious, just a fun thread. I wouldn't like to see all these trophies of course, but I look at them as reasonable awards to give out. How about: Ray Bourque Award - Best defensive rookie. Bobby Orr Award - Leading defensive scorer. Glen Hall Award - Best goalie - rookie. Doug Jarvis Award - Given to all players who have played the full 82 game schedule. Dave Andreychuk Award - Most powerplay goals. Phil Esposito Award - Most shots on goal. Wayne Gretzky Award - A rare award only given if a player leads the NHL in goals and assists. Terry Sawchuk Award - Most shutouts. Ron Francis Award - Most assists. Nothing's legit, just having fun. Anymore?

It looks thinner. Without a doubt, I'd love to raise that over my head, just for fun. Replica or real. Me and my buddies used to play road hockey and we'd raise a tin foil cup. Man, I wish I had THAT back then.

Nice idea. Who would win this award?

Is anyone worried that we have not signed any of the 4 ufa yet?

I gotta ask, what's with this pirate gimmick? -
Yeah, but Daigle is more notorious for being a disappointment. I agree, Stefan was a bigger let-down, maybe when he retires, he'll be more well known. He's only 26. Not tons of time left, but enough.

Which of the 7 'big' names get into the Hall this year?

Yes, exactly. The definition of Norris is the best "all around" defender. Meaning a defenseman that brings both offensive and defensive ability to top tier. Trust me, Stevens is a WAY better defender than 3 time Norris winner, Paul Coffey. -
I watched him in a few Kitchener games. He seemed to be very valuable, kind of reminiscent to what Lidstrom is to the Wings. Not that I'm comparing him to Lids at all, but it goes to show how he can play with a team on his shoulders, and that's a good sign. He seemed to be responsible on the PP, and out on the ice every other shift. However, I guess that's what any junior, 1st round NHL prospect defenseman should have as attributes.

Overpaid? Yes. Outrageous? No. Fat? Yes.

This is said to be the best group of inductees to ever be named to the HOF. Scott Stevens is no exception. - Played the most games ever by an NHL defenseman. - Won 3 cups with the Devils, in which all 3, I doubt they would have won without him. - Conn Smythe winner. - Probably the best pure defender of all time. - Arguably the hardest hitter of all time, where if devestating open ice hits were recorded on paper, I think he'd be the all time leader. - All in all an intimidating force to play against. I don't think there should be any question of Stevens entering the HOF. -
Yeah, but we might as well just name every award the "Wayne Gretzky" award.

Oh okay, I guess I was completely oblivious to this. I thought the Russians always went to the "Russian Hockey Hall of Fame." I always thought it was North American bound only. -
- Already an award. - Why would you use Sandstrom of all people? Jari Kurri? Peter Stastny?

I truly believe that people mentioning Igor in the top 4 are homers. I cannot see how he gets in over Stevens, Francis, Macinnis, or obviously Messier. Adam Oates even has a better shot. I'm sorry, I loved Iggy, but even the biggest fan should consider reality and realized that others had more successful careers in the NHL. Igor's Russian play was brilliant, and if the NHL hall of fame was based on international play as well, then he'd be a shoe in. -
Our priorities: - Top line defenseman (If Schneider leaves) - Top 2 line scoring winger (If Bertuzzi leaves) Responsible, defensive minded forwards are already there for us. Zetterberg, Cleary, Draper, Maltby, Franzen, Filpulla, and even Datsyuk. The Red Wings are full of Pecas, it's about time we start thinking about some... Kozlovs?
-
You know, well I sit and ponder about this, I realize two things; 1) The 7 we'd have without Markov and Schneider do not seem good enough to be a stable defensive cast. 2) Kindl needs to get an opportunity, as does Quincey. So what the hell do we do? Do we trade? Do we sign a UFA? I don't know, I don't seem too satisfied with the 7 we'd have, but I want Kindl and Quincey to play regularly.
-
Yeah, I have a question... What? Sorry Geico Caveman reference. I don't think Datsyuk and Zetterberg should be split up, and if so, Filpulla should play with Z and Hudler with Dats. Just what I think.
-
Splitting Z and Dats up would be obsurd, and Filpulla is ready to make his debut as second line center. I'd say we're set up the middle.

I don't know if it's this year that the Hawks will be good, but somewhere down the line, of course. I think Jonathan Toews will help the Hawks identically the way Yzerman helped the Wings. He will lead the team somewhere down the road into a successful team, you can bank on that. They have got alot of young players, and Bulin can indeed play good. He did in fact play halfway decent last season, IMO. I think their success highly depends on Ruutu and Havlat. If Havlat doesn't get injured and Ruutu plays to full potential, we can expect a semi successful team.
-
He won Norris in my NHL 06 game. I'd say we take him.
-
I'm sorry to say this, but Schneider is pretty much worth 5 mill. I'd say 4-4.5, but 5 still isn't a stretch. The question concerning this is it will effect our cap number a great deal. Schneider is good, but I don't think he should be looked at as top priority. I'd say picking up Tom Preissing would be more advantageous on our part, no doubt.

Chris Mason is a good enough starter, and this guy is probably a good enough back-up, but a good enough back-up for Chris Mason who is going to have his first year as starter?

I'm 19 years old and have played hockey for 12 years. House League, Junior C, A, and BEER LEAGUE. I love it, it's my life, my passion.

Booing Stevie Y is as bad as cheering for Adolf Hitler. What the f*** was that? Regardless, with Pierre's description him, seems pretty appealing.
