Well, I guess a couple years is a bit too little time. A few years would be a better way to word it.
-
It should be under the ref's discretion. If the ref feels he should blow the whistle, then blow it. However, if a ref feels that the one of the teams chasing it needs the icing, or doesn't want the icing, then they should battle it out. Again, under the ref's discretion.

True, but I wouldn't compare everything to the Tkachuk deal, that was just obsurd.
-
It would probably be something like two first rounders and Schneider.

I wanted to analyze the fact that we need tough guys/enforcers/policemen whatever your interpretation is, and just wanted to acknowledge the fact that virtually every other team in the NHL has at least one. Anaheim - Shawn Thornton Atlanta - Boulton Boston - Alberts Buffalo - Peters and Mair Calgary - McCarty and Godard Carolina - Craig Adams Chicago - Lapointe Colorado - Laperriere Columbus - Shelly Dallas - Barnaby (Like him or hate him, he can fight) Edmonton - Greene Florida - Montador, Bertuzzi Los Angelas - Ivanans Minnesota - Boogaard Montreal - Souray, Murray, and Downey Nashville - Tootoo, Hordichuk New Jersey - Janssen NY Islanders - Witt, Simon NY Rangers - Hollweg, Orr, Avery Ottawa - Neil, Mcgrattan Philadelphia - Eager, Fedoruk Phoenix - Josh Gratton, Laraque, Boynton Pittsburgh - Thorburn San Jose - Bell, Clowe St. Louis - Matt Walker, Mayers Tampa Bay - Andre Roy Toronto - Belak Vancouver - Cowan Washington - Brashear, Erksine Now, Detroit - NOBODY The reason why I thought of this was I put Detroit in a hypothetical situation relating to the Ottawa/Buffalo brawl. For example, if it was let's say Kronwall or Markov laying out Drury, and Buffalo puts their enforcers against our finesse players. We have no one who can settle the score. Media says that Pittsburgh needs one more than anybody, but Pittsburgh's 3 toughest players are probably tougher than our toughest active player who would probably be Markov. I just made this post to prove how us, the Detroit Red Wings are in more need of a tough guy than ANY other team in the NHL. So forget looking for scorers at the deadline, get a tough guy. It's an obvious necessity for any team looking for success.

Well the players I named were players that can protect skilled players. Souray sure did a good job protecting Koivu by attacking Armstrong.
-
Yeah, but still, in the playoffs, cheap shots do tend to happen. Bullying, everything. Players will be looking to take off Datsyuk and Zetterberg's head. None of our players can do nothing to prevent the possibility. That happens in the playoffs, and for that, an enforcer of some kind would help.

Good for the Sens tough guys tonight. I thought everything Ruff did the other night was cowardly, everything tonight the Sabres deserved.
-
Yeah, I was looking at the scoresheet, saw that, and was like "YES!" I bet McGrattan got a pretty big O.
-
I didn't even have to open the thread to know that this is the fight that didn't even start.

I want to see this! It's funny how Emery gets kicked out his first game back.
-
If anything, it should be Roberts and a pick for Vermette or Eaves.

When I think of potential MVP, I look at Lidstrom. Huge reason why Detroit has the best defensive numbers in the league as far as fewest shots per game, fewest goals per game, etc. Out of every defensemen he has adapted to the new NHL so finely, in terms of playing the stick instead of interfering with the body. A +42 and leading all defensemen in points puts him as a highly likely candidate. With all that said though, if Crosby remains with the huge lead over everybody else, it may be a definite clincher for him to take home Hart and even Pearson. I don't see Z getting it though. If there was an MVP for second half of the season, he would get it for sure, but there's just too much other possible candidates out there.

Yeah, Neil Patrick Harris already had his 15 minutes of fame.

Why are so many people opposed to Hudler for Bertuzzi straight up? Many people forget who Bertuzzi is, no not a cheap shotting con artist, but a physical presence who can score goals.
-
What a goal by a generational player. Truly exceptional hands and Gretzky-esque vision, more magnificant than Mario, this is... Mark Mowers. Sorry had to fix it for ya.
-
I love Roenick, but if we pick him up as a "big" pickup, I'd be upset. I wouldn't be too upset about a straight up Williams for Roenick trade, or maybe Lilja and a low pick for Roenick.

Maybe Lang will do like he did last year and SHOW UP IN THE PLAYOFFS. Draper plays with a level of intensity, Maltby even picks it up. Considering we have those notorious players who don't show up, we also have those players who do. Also, who could forget, the Dominator. The essential part of playoff success usually depends on the goaltending at least 50%, and that's a very minimal number. I'm not worried about this year's playoffs, and you know, I WAS worried about the last two. Could be a sign.

2 out of our last 3 cups we finished 2nd in the division

I love it, I was watching Sportsnet and Nick Kypreos was talking about cup contenders, and he mentioned a few teams, not one was Detroit. Detroit is the 2nd overall team, but he mentioned teams like Buffalo, Anaheim, San Jose, Nashville, and Vancouver I believe, but not Detroit. You know what, I seriously love it. -
I hate wearing mouth guards, but they could do wonders. I would wear a visor too. I've played with and without a visor, and I prefer without for vision purposes, but I have never played with a high quality, expensive visor, and that would be pretty clear.
-
That blows for my fantasy team. Blows for the Sabres too.
-
Hey, to play on Homer's line, looking gritty and grimy is manditory.

Forsberg has officially been traded to Nashville... WOW...
