Yeah so true, I've dated a few hockey players and it's totally cool not having to try and explain your hockey addiction people. We just used to argue about hockey all the time, it was awesome! If I ever dated someone not hockey related, I'd have to convert them! I took my last BF to a game when a bunch of NHLers were over here playing and he didnt understand why I was so excited at speaking to some of them Aww Dallas27, you're such a cutie and a goalie, you get full marks in my book

I guess not. I feel shame. LOL! We all were. As you can see, there is a bottle of some random alcoholic drink in my hand. It was actually after a hockey tourny. Mm hockey and drinking.

Right, I haven't trawled through the 7 new pages of comments since I went to bed last night, but I think I can gather the general gist. Probably much the same after any Wings loss. Therefore, I am going to post my spiel, which may be long and quite possible boring, so I can get it out of my system. Hopefully, without offending anyone. Last night's game was disappointing. It was disappointing for the fans, but I'd wager it was even more disappointing for the players. Things started out well. We bypassed the usual slow first period, and came out all guns blazing. Three quick goals and we chased Turco from the net. THIS is where things started to go wrong. Not because Hedberg came in and played a blinder, he was solid but we never really forced him to make hugely remarkable saves. The goalie switch, as it was intended to do, fire up the Stars guys. Suddenly they were thinking "We have the best netminder in the league, possibly the world, and OUR crappy play has led him to be pulled." Suddenly they started playing as a team. And suddenly, we stopped. Now, the eternal debate. Chris Osgood. He didn't have a good game. And I think if you ask him, he will say the same thing. Nobody can have been more disappointed with his play last night than Chris himself. However, when there's a loss, it's far too easy to blame the goaltender. Whether it's Chris Osgood, Manny Legace or Martin Brodeur. Let's not forget that Turco was pulled, but I wouldn't ever suggest this makes him a bad goalie, or detracts from his records over the season thus far. The most casual observer of hockey will blame the goaltender for all losses. Why? Because a mistake by a goaltender is far easier to detect when you're a hockey novice than a mistake by a defenceman or a forward. Goalie mistakes have disasterous consequences, much more so then mistakes by forwards and even defenceman. If a goalie had never been pulled in his career, if he had never let in bad goals, then he would be the most amazing goalie in existence EVER. Osgood didn't play well, and we know he doesn't play well when he's not given back to back starts. That is one of his weaknesses. One of Manny Legace's strengths is that he has the capability to come in cold and play several games very well. However, it's still my opinion, much as I love Manny, that he lacks the stamina to play the bulk of a season. That shouldn't really be too relevant however, as that is why we have two top class netminders. I digress. It's easy to blame Osgood for the loss, and I know people will, particualrly a hard core of people who always do. It's easier to come to terms with the fact that one player was responsible for a loss, rather than the fact that the whole team didn't play well. It's much easier to find a scapegoat for a loss, than actually sit down and think aboout it rationally. We lost because we sat back after we chased Turco, and let the Stars walk all over us. Osgood didn't play well, neither did a whole bunch of guys on the team. I think if we're going to discuss who was to blame for a loss, it's only fair we look at the whole picture, instead of jumping on the back of Osgood, as we seem to do every game. If I didn't know any better, I'd say some Wings fans watch games WANTING us to lose, and WANTING Osgood to have a bad game, just so they can come on and claim they are justified. Just my two pence worth.

Well kids, it's been fun (actually it sucked but your company was muchos appreciated) but I gotta get up in six hours. I am looking forward to reading this thread tomorrow. Now, where did I put my Osgood shi9rt? Ah there it is, I think I'll wear it to bed! Hehe...

Tuesday's game is on the TV over here, and I'm not in work till 2 the next day. I shall be staying up till like 3am to watch it, so we better win, or I'll be heading over to Carolina with a large fish to smack some people about.
