Yeah, but you still have to play the game to win. It's not a blow out so winning (even as I type this) is/was still possible with the score. I won't fault the cock for playing the percentages. There is still plenty of time for a fight anyway.

To take advantage of a deep zone faceoff with the top line. Was that hard to understand?
-
Not according to Sixer (at least I think it's sixer that preaches the top notch thing)
-
Honestly without the wing colored glasses on blaming our forwards for under performing, I thought Kipper played a very "Top Notch Goalie ™" like game. A couple of posts and a whif or two aside Kipper had if not a great game then a VERY solid game. Frankly I don't see much to ***** about in the Wings effort other than Sammy.

Any trade with the wings should be we offer Samuelson and....

Whoa...a penalty

This type of douchebaggery can only be met with equal douchebaggery which is why a dirty little piece of me fantasizes that the Blues would trade us Barret Jackman due to his contract dispute.

Dammit you're right. Osgood should have STEPPED IT UP, so the score could be 2-0 instead of 4-0. The best any goalie in the world can do is get a tie by themselves. Without any goal support it's moot point right now whether it's 4-0, 1-0 or 10-0 since we're sitting on the 0. There's a time and a place for blaming the goalie but this isn't really it. Also I've seen all the best goalies get hung out to dry just as much as they make the miracle stop. It's not about shots as goaltender as much as it is about quality scoring chances and the higher the QSC the more likely your tender is going to get beat at some point. That's why sometimes it's unfair to see the X number of goals on x number of shots because if 4 goals were scored on 5 shots but all five of them were 2 on 0's it's not really indicative the goaltenders play. Right now the whole team is in a funk and that of course trickles down to the goaltending as I imagine Ozzie like the rest is trying too hard right now and not just playing.

Hey look, Chris Rooney has a long history of being a blind idiot.
-
Seen quite a few shots at Ozzie in the thread and I'm baffled. He came up big on more than one occasion and you have to remember that shots on goal aren't always an indicator of quality scoring chances. He hasn't been as automatic as he was earlier in the season but from my perspective he's not horribly off his game either. The biggest thing and this goes for Dom as well, is that they aren't getting the "good" bounces right now. The second goal (if I remember correctly) was a good example, as he pretty much made the stop but the puck ramped up off his stick (possibly blocker) and hit the crossbar and dropped behind. That's a pretty craptastic break (of course if Raffy hadn't been caught flat footed it might never have happened but that another story). As for THE goal. It was a Homer reputation call. By the letter of the law it might of been correct but it was a pretty weak call to make in such a hard fought game. The puck was in before Giggy had established contact but as has been stated it was an on the spot judgment call by a ref out of position. The Kunitz play is the one that baffles me. Considering how fast NHL tenders normally get a whistle the fact that he was able to plow Ozzie with a covered puck just doesn't compute.

They haven't called traveling since MJ. Remember when palming, and carrying were called?? I think they still wore nutters. SERIOUSLY....THEY CALL THAT??? UGH
-
No joke....which is just what the NHL refs continue to prove themselves to be night in and night out. Consistency or any kind of rational is just too much to ask I guess.
-
That's pretty much the definition of NOT getting clutch goaltending.
-
It's not your imagination. As I said in an earlier post the NHL Refs have no idea what the difference between a non infraction stick check is, and a hook is. All they see is the stick is horizontal as mandated by the idiot powers that be in the NHL.
-
Going to be a long season if the Wings keep getting punched in the face by the central. Dom and Homer get screwed out of more calls than almost anyone.
-
NHL referees have no idea what the difference between a hook and stick check is. This rule that if the stick is horizontal it's hook is idiotic. It is totally possible to stick check a player at the waist level and not hook them. I was all for freeing up the game but frankly the refs look like retards calling this crap all the time. Especially when you put a team down two players for non-highsticking infractions.

Which happened because Lillypads made a stupid play by pinning the puck on the boards instead of moving it.

Vicari was better than average if even if he wasn't spectacular night in and night out. There was more to him leaving MSU than just Lerg beating him out. There was some friction between him and Coach Comley although I can't remember what it was anymore. It doesn't change the fact that by all reports he had a good camp average or not, and somebody has to play in the minors. You never know who could be a diamond in the rough.
-
No sure why but I'd like to see the sign Vicari for the ECHL or something. All reports seemed to indicate he had a good camp and you can never have too much depth at goaltender.
-
Are we really this upset about losing a guy that was concussed by our back up goalie? The loss of Lang/Calder and Beeftuzzi doesn't upset me much.

What do the Wings do with the money they have left?
moocat replied to Bert44Wingsfan's topic in General
I'd actually like to see Jason Blake as a wing. So resign Hasek if you must and get Blake and Markov and or Bert. -
meh. I like his potential but with Grigs coming I wouldn't be bothered if he bolted.
-
Not a fan of the length of the contract but a good signing.
-
I'm having mixed feelings about this. I guess ultimately it will depend on who they replace him with.
