Look at the scoring breakdown in this series: Datsyuk 3 goals Zetterberg 2 goals Draper 2 goals Hudler 1 goal Homer 1 goal Franzen 1 goal McCarty 1 goal Filppula, Cleary, Sammy? Anyone? Bueller? Pav and Hank are doing all they can.
-
Z did too much dipsy-doodle crap tonight when the Wings needed the puck deep and some pressure. He looked like Pav from 2006. I understand he was trying to create something, but trying to beat all 5 guys numerous times isn't going to help.
-
Ditto for me about the emotional part. The 1st Round is always a struggle for the Wings, because they let it be. I don't even really get nervous anymore for the games, just because it seems so predictable.

All discussion of other playoff games may go here.

Abdeldabbadoo. He won't play unless injuries play a role. I don't think Mike wants him in situations he's not ready for yet.
-
Lilja's services in this series aren't needed if he's not going to hit players along the boards when the Preds cycle. Lebda's the same, but he adds an element of being able to carry the puck and can break the Nashville forecheck with his speed. We'll see how it works, but after Game 3 it can't get much worse in terms of blown assignments.

Gonna have to put up with the Nashville announcers until Versus picks up the game, ugh. At least us with CI can watch the game in it's entirety, woohoo!

This thread is still going on? Seriously? God, it seems like Dom must've just let Nashville score at will with all the whiners in this thread. Makes me question how many people on here REALLY know the game of hockey and how to make informed decisions. A couple of things to address from reading nearly two pages of mindless chatter back and forth. #1) Goalies can actually skate, and are typically the best skaters on a team. Until you learn how to actually do what they do, don't sound like a fool saying it. Lateral movement and pivoting, along with strong pushes are something not many "normal" skaters can do well. #2) If sports were based on knee-jerk reactions, like changing goaltenders after a bad game, or playing a backup QB after your star QB has a bad game, then I don't think any one team would have much success. I doubt the Patriots would sit Tom Brady in the Super Bowl, even if he had 6 INTs. The Wings are gonna do the same with Dom. #3) If you're a fan of Osgood and solely Osgood, then don't comment on how bad you want Hasek to ride the pine. You root for the jersey, not for the player, and to suggest that the Wings would be better off with Osgood in goal is walking a thin line. He's been through his own share of weak goals in his playoff career, so be careful what you say. Close this thread after Game 4, it won't be needed for the rest of the series.

Ducks look real good tonight, everyone's contributing to their game. Dallas looks a bit flat, bet their home fans are reliving the past 3 years.

Game 3 vs. St. Louis, Dom was pulled in a very similar game of blown assignments and poor play. Games 4 and 5, he was a wall to close out the series. The same will happen here. Dom wasn't pulled last night, obviously, but he will man up and say he probably should've had one of the four goals. Those of you suggesting that goaltenders are past their prime in their 40's, need to re-evaluate hockey. Goaltending is like pitching in baseball, better with age or experience. Dom will be fine, and any of you suggesting that Ozzie play instead are idiots. Sitting Dom for Game 4 ruins his confidence and gives Nashville something to rally around, that they've chased out the Dominator. And, if Ozzie loses Game 4, then what? If you wanna talk about hypotheticals, you need to address that potential question. Dom will start every game unless he has an injury. End of story.
-
I'm not concerned, but if the Wings play the same way Wednesday night then I will be. Game 4 may very well be the series if the cards fall right. The Wings pulled sort of the same thing last year against Calgary, winning 2 at home and then losing 2 at Calgary. I don't want to see a repeat of that this series. Leave no doubts tomorrow and close it out Friday.
-
Dom didn't lose this game, it was a collective team effort. Nashville was able to penetrate the Wings defense all game and get a good cycle going. The Wings were caught flat-footed most of the game at center ice and in their own end, that has to change. 60 minute effort would go a long way to playing a solid game. The Wings selectively played tonight when they wanted to.
-
Wouldn't be the playoffs without adversity, let's see how Game 4 goes. Team needs to mentally get with it, they were so sore about losing last year, serve it as a constant reminder.
-
Center Ice will have the game via Sports South, the Nashville feed. Any of you who have CI and live outside of the Detroit area can catch the full game on there and of course switch over to Versus once they pick up coverage.
-
Dave Strader is still my favorite, I grew up with him doing the Wings games with Mickey. Behind him, I'd have to say Chris Cuthbert on TSN (formerly CBC), he does a great job with playoff games and has a great voice.
-
Sharks look like they don't want to match Calgary's effort, and with Calgary's willingness to lay the body it's apparent who is sending the message tonight. This looks like the same Sharks team that lost to the Wings last year. Lay some body, take them out of their game and they're easily beatable.
-
Man, Backstrom and Theodore have been huge!
-
God bless CI for this Avs/Wild game!
-
Sharks look just like last year, they don't handle adversity very well. Game 2 tomorrow night will be very important.
-
2-2! Fedoruk.
-
PP Wild coming up, game is getting good.
-
Big goal by the Wild, Koivu.
-
The Wild look lost right now, their PP was horribly out of sync.
-
Clowe. 2-1.
