Don't start.

The last one looked onside to me. Lang had already crossed the line when Calder took off into the zone.
-
Uh oh. That looks bad.
-
Does stick-on-stick mean anything to the refs? Honestly.
-
Honestly, I think I'm gonna flip if Sammy or Lang lazily lose the puck again. Those two just kill whatever momentum we might have.
-
Funny, I could've sworn what Stuart just did was interference.

I've never been a big Hudler supporter, and I'm still not "sold" on little Jiri. But it's absolute garbage that he has to sit. He was working hard, and alongside Flip and Franzen, that line was creating lots of energy and coming up with some timely goal-scoring.

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to get to go to today's game, and I must say, the crowd was really enthusiastic. This was especially true in the first period when we put a lot of pressure on Calgary early, and then displayed some fine penalty killing towards the end of the period. There were some empty seats throughout the building, but what bothers me is when people leave early, so they can get out of the parking garage quicker. I also hate when people make you get up so they can go refill their beer when the play is clearly going on. It's like they don't even care. And can we stop with this "sweep" talk? It makes us Wings fans look extremely arrogant and cocky, and it's just bad karma. It's the same thing as not saying the word "shutout" until the final buzzer sounds. Not only did we blow that lead against LA back in '01, but we also went into Nashville back in '04 and had our 2-0 lead erased. I'd think that Detroit fans should know better than anyone that anything can happen in the post-season.

Sometimes I find Hrudey can be a little bit on the dull side, but I agree that he usually knows what he's talking about.
-
I certainly wouldn't. The first time I ever saw Don Cherry come down on Sidney Crosby was when Sid tried some tricky move back when he was with Rimouski, late in a game that was pretty much already decided. And for the record, Don usually has nice things to say about Alexander Ovechkin. He's always complimented Alex on his enthusiasm for the game.

That's precisely what an article in The Windsor Star said this morning; that the visor prevents the glare of the lights from bothering his eyes. I can't say I know much about concussions, but if he's still that sensitive to light, maybe it isn't such a great sign. Anyways, I'd rather Bert come back in Games 3 and 4 in Calgary at 100% then come back tomorrow if he's not. The Flames are an excellent home team, and I feel that's when we'll need him the most.

I'll be the first to say that Datsyuk still has something to prove in the post-season, but he scored a playoff goal for the first time in years and was the first star of the night, so I don't really see the need to slam his performance in Game 1. In spite of Don Cherry's anti-European comments from time to time, I have to agree with some of what says. I will agree with Don in the sense that standing like that simply isn't a great way to block a shot. But the way in which he phrased his criticism was uncalled for.
-
Don Cherry has always slammed guys for blocking shots standing up the way Datsyuk did; I believe he calls it a "flamingo" or something like that. The fact that Pavel was covering his face only gave Don more to talk about. Still, I feel that this criticism is really unnecessary given the fact that Datsyuk finally had the breakout post-season game we've all been waiting for. I don't think it's fair that this wasn't mentioned at all.

San Jose is throwing this game away with the way they run a power-play. Joe Thornton messed up more than once on that PP.
-
Man, Ron Wilson looks pissed over that hit. The Sharks will be lucky to make it through the series alive if the Preds make plays like these a nightly occurrence.
-
Could you try not to be that much of a dick? Sure many of us hated on Bertuzzi after the Steve Moore incident. But he's still a good player who provides something we haven't had on this team for quite some time, and he's in a position to really help this team. Why wouldn't we root for him?
-
And with five minutes left and the score 4-1, the lower bowl was half empty. I realize that's par for the course at The Joe in the regular season, but it really shouldn't happen in the playoffs.
-
His line didn't really seem to get a whole lot going. When Bert gets back, I'd like to see him put with Calder and Lang.
-
Seeing a crazed Danny Markov jump on top of the pile and pull out a Calgary Flame was absolutely priceless. It's nice to see a little emotion from us in the third there. Anyways, the Wings couldn't have played much better. Our fourth line got things going in the first, and our top line put it away in the second.
-
The Wings were scrambling on that PK. Let's just close it down from here on in.
-
That looked like a good save to me. I don't think Schneider has much of a case.
-
Nice work Calgary. Keep on tryin' to goon it up.
-
That was a nice hit he threw on Huselius.
-
Lebda deserves more PP time; he's shown he has pretty good offensive instincts. I wouldn't mind seeing Markov out there from time to time either.
-
To be fair, missing Regehr isn't the reason they only have 12 shots. Calgary has been pretty bad in the first 40 minutes.
