In that case I hope they do waive Eaves, I wouldn't want some fair weather fan sitting next near me at the Joe. You'd have everyright to be pissed but come on we're talking about which 4th liner you might see 7min a game from, hardly a reason to boycot the Wings, besides aren't you a little late getting your package since it includes 2 preseason games?

How long does he have to clear? 24 hrs, 12?

This is why the Red Wings are the best organization in sports... Period. -
I think if he wanted something simple, a nice Glossy Carbon Fiber look would have been nice.
-
If this were the case do you really think the Red Wings would let him go?! Come on... no offense but I love how all these armchair GM's know better than the Wings brass. Believe me, if the Red Wings thought they were making a huge mistake they wouldn't let him go, they'd make a tough decision with Draper or Miller.

He stood out for being a no-show. He only played in 4 games due to an ear ache. When he did play he was limited to under 10min and under 5 on one occasion. He had 1 assist and was -1. Ritola has shown nothing that the Wings can't get from someone else. Will he play well somewhere else? Maybe but these are the tough decisions that we have to make now with the CBA. The fact is this years Red Wings are better without him and than with him. The Draper argument may be a valid one but Draper embodies the Red Wings philosophy of taking care of your veteran players, it's the reason FA's want to take a discount to come here, and the reason our own players don't leave for larger paychecks.

I don't get it, why gold fish?

Are you ashamed of your team if they lose? Why not put the flags on your car either way.

anyone know the total number of new faces on the Chicago Roster this year? How many were traded and how many were let go. Also on current roster how many players will be playing their first NHL game on Oct 8?
-
I second that... it was either this game or the 2002 cup game... not sure which one.
-
The NBA is in worse financial disarray than the NHL. Not saying it can't work but they are a bad example.
-
even a 10% discount for a starting 5 would be huge, maybe write it in that the savings can't go to one single player it has to be split between at least two.
-
Hmmm very true, cannot believe that omission, I must have been blind.
-
How about Hasek for number 39 He is on the list... OP just omitted him.
-
Barrie, You can still get it done at FanaticU you would just have to mail it... Debbie from the Garden City location does mine. They are all autographed and I have had 10 done, all great job.

Dandy was a good guy and an alright defensman, think of him as a precursor to Lebda. The funny think about him retiring is that he still looks like he is 25 years old. Always had a baby face.

And his fists have been placed in Bert's locker.....

I just saw a special on ABC news the other night about a family who lost their 13 year old daughter in a skiing accident. They donated her heart to someone for a transplant, through the internet they were able to connect with the person who received the heart and ended up meeting her, she was a 40ish woman, they got to hear their daughters heart still beating, giving life to someone else. -

THIS I probably couldn't have said it better myself. I will only add that while as a Wings fan I appreciate the growing salary cap, this system hasn't worked to secure the economic future of the NHL. It has distributed talent which you would think would in turn increase revenue, however this goes back to having hockey teams in non-hockey markets, it doesn't matter how talented the team is, certain cities won't grow viewership unless they are winning championships not just improving, and even fewer will be able to sustain that growth once the team comes back to earth. Not even the great Red Wings can win a championship every year. Look at Tampa Bay and Carolina for examples of teams that had success yet lost almost all those viewers again. Betmans biggest mistake was holding out when he was offering a hard cap of 43 million and the NHLPA was willing to accept a hard cap of 48 million, now look 7 years later and the cap is 59 million?! Salaries are almost as high as they have ever been, yes he has helped improve the flow of the game, but so has the NHLPA and the GM's that's been a joint effort. He has yet to fix the economic mess that is the NHL. As far as the playoff scheduling, that's really because of his poor decision for television support. We broadcast our games without compensation on NBC based on their needs, so in turn we can only play when they don't have a hit show scheduled.

I like it, Ken Kal was broadcasting the Red and White game on the radio and mentioned we needed a linemate for him named Fish, so we could have Fish and Tartar on a line together. Just think if we could actually sign guys with the last names Fish and Sauce, Tartar skates up the wing, floats a pass to Sauce, Sauce dishes it in front of the net to Fish, who reels in a defender before passing back to Tartar, he shoots, he scores! Detroit goal scored by number 27 Tartar assisted by number 21 Fish and number 57 Sauce. On a more serious note Darren McCarty would probably be better suited for "The Sauce" since it sounds like a nick name for an Alky.

This is the problem with the new generation, no respect for adults. Yes Draper and Maltby are falling fast, but what you fail to realize is the thing that makes this team what it is, is loyalty to veteran players, you take care of them as long as you can and they take care of you, it's why we don't have contract hold outs, it's why our players defer salary. I have several jerseys with retired or aging players, I also have several with new players or prime players. The point is, to say Maltby is in the twilight of his career, and that he won't be around much longer if at all is one thing, to laugh at a person for suggesting they wear his jersey, and saying "he needs" to retire is something entirely different. Have some respect for the players that helped mold the Red Wings into what they are today, because Draper and Maltby were both a big part of that.

I'll take Dat's a Z. As even as I think this would be, I have seen Datsyuk play keep away before, it's uncanny.

Anyone have an update on how Lil's is faring with the Sharks?

Here are some design facts about the new 40th anniversary jersey. - The royal blue color of the third jersey reflects the original Sabres jersey that debuted in 1970. (This is acceptable) - The “Buffalo” script wordmark was inspired by the old Buffalo Bisons “bottlecap” logo. (They should have left if old and forgotten for a reason!) - The choice of an off-white color for the Buffalo script was to give the jersey a vintage feel. (I didn't notice the offwhite because the rest of it was so ugly.) - There are four stripes on the sleeves, socks and around the waist that represent 40 years of Sabres hockey. (Fine with this too) - A commemorative 40th anniversary “1970” logo sits below the Buffalo script. (Should have made it the main logo) - The faux felt numbers have a unique cross stitched pattern in reference to early pro hockey jerseys (Just because hockey players who had no idea how to sew, used to sew their own numbers doesn't mean we should repeat it. )

I disagree, actually I have an autographed Hasek Buffalo Jersey from that era, I also have a Autographed Hasek Wings... Heck I will just list them all. Red Wings: Hasek, Yzerman, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Lidstrom, Fedorov, Chelios, McCarty. Other: Buffalo Hasek, Pittsburgh Lemieux I also have autographed numbers waiting to go on Jerseys for Howard, Hossa, Maltby, and Lang.
