No wonder he never plays a full season, if I had that to go home to I would be on "LTIR" for a sore groin all the time too!
-
Holland has been know to sign the "fix-er-uppers", some of them have been flops but others have been real cinderella stories, I think there are a few players we could take a chance on like that.
-
Holland already offered him a deal at 2.5 million a year and Hudler balked at it. Also you have to take into consideration that the KHL pays their players tax free.
-
Jiri = George George Hudler that sounds funny.
-
^^^^^^^ That would explain why this damned Russian to English Translator wasn't working! LMAO Anyone read russian?
-
Hudler doesn't have the right to "hold out". He's a good player but he's not that good.

Yes... Marian Hossa Offense: check Defense: check Heart: check Works well under pressure: three out of four isn't too bad... In all seriousness I like Hossa think he's a great player and guy. I wish him the best.

Nothing all that interesting to me, there are some players I would want but we likely won't be able to afford them, we have over ten million in contracts coming off the books but the cap is expected to drop at least 5million which give us 5 or 6 million in cap space, we have to replace our missing contracts which includes Lidstrom, lets say Lidstrom takes 3 million and we replace homer, Maltby, Lilija, and Lebda with similarly priced contracts (not saying same players just equal money) that's another 4 or 5 million we are already over the cap. Make no mistake we will be in a better cap situation after next season but we won't be shopping for a high priced forward or defenseman, we'll just be plugging the holes by either resigning our UFA's of shopping for budget replacements, the only wildcard would be if Lidstrom decides to retire, then I think we would go after the best available replacement and make a trade if necessary to fit the salary in.

Sounds like he got a little bit of a raise.
-
We can't afford most of these guys, we would be lucky to sign one.
-
No, there is no reason to boo him. He even had some very classy things to say about Detroit. There really is no reason to boo Fedorov either. Offical Boo List Gary Bettman and any team collectively There are some individuals that were on the list at one time but they have long since retired, or retired and came back and signed with the Sharks only to be elminated.

Or maybe he is considering taking the deal. -

I don't expect Hossa to sign for all the reasons everyone has mentioned. However I am curious as to why there has been no news. As they say, "No news is good news." It seems to me that Hossa hasn't flat out rejected the contract yet and Holland is respecting that and giving him time to think things through rather than force his hand. They could also be discussing adding a year or two to the contract. 7 7 7 7 7 5 4 3 2 1 1 1 That's a 4.3 million dollar cap hit and 52 million in guaranteed funds. Someone mentioned earlier that because Hossa is under 35 even if he were to retire that we would be on the hook for his full cap hit. Actually the opposite it true, if a player signs his contract before 35 and retires his contract isn't guaranteed. The only other rule I know of is that the salary cannot drop more than 50% between any given years. I really don't think the league could say anything about a 12 year contract length as if is not completely unrealistic and within the current rules of the CBA. Expect this loop hole to be plugged in the next agreement. -
Nice work it was a good read, the only thing that could make this thread better is if we start talking about Hossa!

I feel as though I am getting old, first it was Myspace...so I eventually got one of those, then myspace became so "last week" so I got a facebook, not it seems as though twitter is the new in thing.

What would people think about getting these players?

I'll take Hossa...thanks anyway. -
Last year one of my employees eleven year old son just walked up to Osgood's house on his way home from school and knocked on his door. Osgood's wife answered and he said "Is Chris home?" She went and got him and he sat on the front porch for about 10minutes with him, he even gave him an autographed mini-stick. I wouldn't recommend doing something like this but I felt it was worth posting so show that these guys really are top notch. They may not do to many structured signings but if you catch them somewhere most of them will spend at least a few minutes with you. To answer your question, training camp is a great place to get autographs, also the do an event every year for season ticket holders, talk to someone you know with tickets and see if they'll let you take their tickets to the event next year.

This confirms that Hossa is the best UFA available if you can sign him, do it! -
You can count me in that group as well, one of the most amazing plays I've ever seen to this day, I was just thinking about it earlier while watching the NHL awards. IMHO this is Lidstroms "Flying Bobby Orr" play.

I like to think of the Wings more like the sacred trilogy. (And no I don't have time for pictures but feel free drake!) Episode I (later renamed IV but I don't really count those): 2008 is like a new hope where the Wings (read Jedi) are victorious over the emperor, (Bettman) Darth Vader, (Crosby) and the evil empire (You guess it the Pens) Episode II 2009 is like the Empire Strikes Back...we all know how that ends. 2010? Well that's reserved for Return of the Jedi!
-
Nice name...too bad it will go out of style so quickly.
-
I expect the deal to be closer to 5 million but I still think that if we can get it done that we should.
-
Why does every single thread right now have something to do with getting rid of Hossa or keeping Hossa? Basically the entire site is in two camps all surrounding Hossa.
-
If he resigns Hossa most of the boards will stop watching the Wings apparently.
