I think unless Ozzie plays out of his mind on Saturday or Conklin has a meltdown this week, you have to go with Conks in the winter classic...not to mention to risk of reinjuring the groin in the cold weather.

I've been to several Wings games in Nashville and it's a great city to go watch an away game in. The night life isn't too bad either.

You can make an arguement for not loosing Z...that makes sense. But if you can keep Zetterberg and Hossa long term, as tough as it is you let Franzen and Hudler go. As far as who you should keep, I agree they are both great players so you keep who demands less money, not who has the most history.

I haven't seen any mention of this but last night Hossa didn't play almost the entire second half of the 3rd period. They replaced Hossa on the first line with Flip. To top of my conspiracy theory, Hossa was named third star and he didn't take the victory circle at the game. Has anyone heard anything?

I guess I am not giving him credit, it was at training camp last year, not this year. I was in the lobby of the hotel where they were having their annual charity dinner. The dinner had let out and the players were dispursing into the lobby. Most of the players came up to sign autographs or take pictures with me! I of course wanted to get Zetterberg's autograph and he just wasn't very friendly. He did sign my picture so I guess I shouldn't complain but I felt like I was bothering him. I can honestly say that he was the only Red Wing I have ever met that made me feel that way. I don't know maybe he was having a bad day, and it wasn't a terrible experience but compared to all of my other Red Wing encounters he just didn't seem like he wanted to give me the time of day. They say your first impression should be your best...Z didn't deliver.

Hossa was one of the nicest Wings I have ever met. Spent 30minutes talking to me. A real class act. I have met Z and Hossa...and I will tell you Hossa is FAR more cordial than Z. I wouldn't be hurt if Z left and Hossa stayed...that being be said Z is a great player and I understand the reasons Holland will probably make him the priority.

I just don't get it. I remember Osgood being hot and cold during his first tenure with the Wings. I am not one to be negative about a team member. I have always supported Osgood, he is stellar at times and terrible others. Since coming back to the Wings I thought he had played consistantly well and last year when Dom faltered he was down right awesome. But his play this year makes me feel like he is the same old Osgood. Capable of greatness but never sustained. For what it's worth I hope I'm wrong. If he doesn't turn this season around he'll never be remembered as one of the greats like he wants to be and probably deserves to be.

I hope you are right, I think that if Z were willing to sign for 7.45 the deal would already be done. Holland said he felt they were close at training camp. The fact that he still isn't signed must mean either Z wants more than the Wings expected or the Wings are possibly waiting to keep their options open.

Marian may leave after this year but I can tell you that it's not in a package deal with Gaborik. I asked him myself and he laughed at the idea.

He has a hell of a shot but it is frustrating to watch chances go by the wayside because of broken sticks.

Out of the big 3 I think that anyone would like to keep Z and Hossa. However that doesn't seem realistic. If it comes down to keeping either Zetterberg or Hossa the choice is simple. Keep whomever will play for less. They are both great players. They both have their upsides over the other so it comes down to economics.

See Chelios, Bertuzzi, Forsberg, etc. (I know we never had Forsberg but a hell of a lot of us were pushing for him.)

The Red Wings will make the playoffs. That is a given. That being said they would prefer to be playing closer to form for most of the year. Clearly offense isn't the issue this year, we need to tighten up our defense and we better goaltending. It's nothing that we can't fix between now and April. That being said No I don't think the Wings are attempting to give up leads to practice coming back in the third.

Yeah he was pretty shocked to hear that. He must have been thinking...where do people come up with this stuff. I had a great time talking to him. He sat right next to my girlfriend at the bar so the three of us talked the most. It was great!
