Hossa isn't as hard of a hitter but he plays a strong game and has great size.

Lenio will only make the roster if they are going to bump someone off the second or third line. Helm will play in GR this year. As far as Downey vs. D-Mac I think it's a toss up with the slight edge going to D-mac for being the smarter player and having better hands. Neither is a heavy weight and neither is a really strong skater. But you can't go wrong with either one for that job.

Good for Mac...the best part is he only plays if he earns it. I have faith that he will.

My 2cents: Hasek deserves to be on mentioned on anyones top five alltime goalie list, the fact is however you could ask ten different people to arrange those five goalies and get a different combination everytime. For what it's worth he'd be one or two on my list.

I didn't like the inferance that leaving pittsburgh would be such a terrible stigma. He didn't owe the city of Pittsburgh anything. He came at the deadline and played his heart out all the way to the last second, literally I might add. To answer your original question, I think that Kenny will have to make some tough decisions this year, is it possible to keep Hossa, Z, and Franzen...YES. But it would require all the stars aligning as in the cap increasing and all three players signing for much less than they could get on the open market.

As for what you gave up, I think the price was too steep for him at the trade deadline, although he did play an incredible game for you during the playoffs, but the price was set by the Thrashers and your GM agreed to it, Hossa didn't ask to come to the Pens.

I think we can get Z done long term and he won't make more than Nik. Ideally I would like to see Z take 6.7 million a year like Datsyuk or maybe 7 million a year but long term. As for Franzen, If I had to sign him right now today I'd give him the same 3 million dollar deal that Flip got. If he plays another year and continues his dominance well then his value goes up and he might want 4.5-5ish, if that's the case you have to ask yourself do I want to sign Franzen to that contract or do I want to use that money to lock up Hossa for 7-7.45 a year. I think Kenny has made it clear no one on the Wings make more than Lidstrom.

I just got back from the Fan Fest at the Joe and I had to share my experience. It's really cool and worth the money! They have a great HHOF display. The highlight however was Steve Yzerman. He was on stage for more than an hour this morning with Ken Daniels and Jim Nill. He answered questions and after he was done he signed autographs for about 30mins. He signed my Jersey and my Yzerman 19 retirement book! What a great guy. I will post pictures soon.

The Red Wings are inviting a few UFA's to camp on a tryout basis but they are playing for a position in GR not with the main club. Unless by some miracle they are able to really beat out someone.
