EUZ, I used to aplaud your use of statistics and logic in your posts. Lately you seem very bitter and sarcastic. What happened? Is everything ok? Anything I can do?
-
Posting my 25 tonight!

Some of that is Pavel's humor...

Kroger's in Garden City...LOL

The only players I would consider close to retiring are Lidstrom and Chelios. Chelios is a free agent again next season so that shouldn't be an issue and let's all pray that Lidstrom doesn't decide to retire after this season.

In regards to Yzerman vs. Lidstrom: Link
-
I guess I should clarify. I just meant that with the exception of Lidstrom our Red Wings individual players are rarely considered Super Stars on the level of Crosby. It nice to see them finally get mentioned in the same breath!
-
Signing Chelios is one of the reasons we are able to get players like Hossa and Datysuk and Lidstrom to sign for undermarket value every year. We are loyal and take care of our own. That speaks volumes to a player looking for a long term home. I also agree if they can avoid it they won't sign Lilja because of the sign and trade. I don't think they would have signed Lilja if Stuart signed a day earlier.

Thanks for the easy access link! I am excited about this but I am curious how the Wings will manuver under the cap leading up to the regular season. It will be interesting.
-
Maybe the thought of playing with one of his best friends will keep him in Detroit long term. In any case I am really glad to have him here this year!!!!
-
Just doing some quick calculations and I think that we would need about a 6million dollar increase and some flexablilty from everyone envolved to keep Hossa, Z, and Franzen.

Has Dom lost a step? Yes Is he still a good goalie? Yes If Dom wants to keep playing in some other capacity or even in the NHL because he enjoys the game that's fine. As long as there is a team who sees value in him and as long as he wants to play then why shouldn't he? I think Dom was ready to go home and he saw that this was Osgood team now, but that doesn't mean he's never allowed to play hockey again. If we wants to give the KHL a shot why should it bother anyone?

I think that the Red Wings will skate throught the Central divison and the Western conference with ease. From there is becomes a matter of health, determination, and a little bit of luck. You can never guarantee a championship but I think this years Wings team is a close as you can get.

Why are you being so bitter and getting so angry? Enjoy life, relax, who cares if you know your right. Take pride in that and don't let it bother you if someone else is wrong. I hope you have a nice easy relaxing holiday. As for the trades...I agree Lilja makes a lot of sense but on the other hand a sign and trade has never been the Wings style. As for the real topic of this thread Chelios coming back...I can see how some wouldn't want to let go of a prospect to keep a defensman on his last leg, however you should take some relief in the fact that Holland would never jepordize the future of this team. If a player is worth keeping he'll get it done. And part of what makes this system work is the belief that if the players in their prime are loyal to the team when it comes to contracts, they will be take care of their entire careers. If you don't think Zetterberg looks at how the Wings treat their long time older players when he thinks about taking below market value to stay here your mistaken and that in it's self makes keeping the veterans around well worth it.

LMAO!

But we will buy giant satellite dishes so we can watch the KHL at 3am everynight right Loo????
-
I am all for it.....obviously!
-
This is great news for the game, we don't have to root for him but he is still one of the greatest forwards of our time. We should feel lucky that we get to watch him play!
-
I am trying not to piss my pants right now...and I am 27!!!
-
I agree I would prefer to move Lilja but it wouldn't be right at this point.
-
I like Crosby...I have no issue at all with him, I just don't know if he is that much better than say AO, or Datsyuk, or Zetterberg, or Malkin, or Lacavailer...etc. It's just my opinion that Mr. Crosby has a LONG way to go before we can fairly call him the best ever or even the second best ever. I was simply making an argument that he can be considered overrated in that respect. As the the records, I can't speak to that. sorry
-
I am not saying that Crosby doesn't deserve his praise, and he is "one hell of a hockey player" but an arguement can be made that he's overrated. People treat him like he is the second coming of Gretzky, just like they do with Labron and Jordan. The fact is Crosby hasn't done anything to deserve that type of comparison yet, well except play really good hockey and be a marketable face for the NHL. He hasn't won a cup, he isn't shattering records. Excellent Hockey Player: YES The Second Coming: Remains to be seen.

I personally think it's a little bit of lip service for the Chicago fans and a little bit of the writing on the wall in Detroit. Reality is we have a back-log at defense and Chelios may not want to retire when Detroit is ready to stop signing him, so he wants to keep relations open. Make no mistake, Chelios will stay in Detroit as long as he can, he has four restaurants in the metro detroit area. He owns a multi-million dollar home here.
