Honestly I haven't paid that much attention to how Hossa skates. I will have to watch this year and let you know because Sergei was an amazing skater. So strong and fast. Hard to move off the puck.

Thank you for the memories. Watching that truly brought to light how much the team has changed. When you watch year after year you almost don't notice because a few players leave and a few new ones are added but when you look back at that team even from just 6 years ago 75% of the team is different. Then I think about Stevie and Dom and how I'll never get to see them play again. Almost brings a tear to my eye...

I think that the players will stick to status quo for the final two years of the current agreement. Although this isn't a perfect situation for the players the upsides far outweigh the downsides for them. I expect that the next agreement will be better balanced with a possible hard cap. There are already owners complaining about the raising salary floor. One thing is certain, hockey cannot survive another lock-out. I hope both sides realize that. -
The Red Wings are in a great situation in that there are any number of players that could captain other teams. You could make an arguement for Maltby based on his tenure but we really don't know what kind of a locker room leader any of these players are, so we just have to trust that Babcock and Holland are choosing the right players for the job. For those of you who feel that Chelios fell off a little bit last year keep in mind that he broke a bone in his leg and played with that injury for the entire second half of the year and the playoffs. He had surgery after the season was over. So let's see how he recovers before we write him off. Chelios is still a soild 4-5-6 defenseman in this league.

7 million isn't unrealistic at all...the cap has gone from 39 million to 56.7 in three seasons! It went to 43million, then 50.1, then 56.7. Even if you average it out it's still 5.9million a year. And the league has zero control over what the cap goes up. We as fans control that. It's directly tied to revenue.

You are assuming that the cap won't continue to rise. It went up 6.7 million this past season...another 7million dollar jump would do us wonders.

This topic is pretty pointless as I think everyone will agree that it's Hossa hands down, however it is summer so I guess I'll give it a pass. -
I am sure if you had to ask Holland would he rather keep Hossa or Flip the answer would be Hossa, but you can't bank on Hossa signing next year. It was very nice of him to take the one year contract to come here but it's not like he signed for 5 million. It's the classic a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Holland had to sign Flip to this contract because if he didn't he might end up with neither one in two years.

The new Lidstrom looks nice, I too have been collectiing for a while. I have one of every Red Wing made to this point, including Fedorov as a Wings variant and the Series 2 Hasek with the bright Red paint. I only collect the white jersey's though. I noticed that Gordie 2 is only coming in Red as well. Oh well time to switch I suppose. I was hoping for a new Osgood as well as a Hossa. They will probably be coming. What about a Kronwall and Rafalski??? Any word on them?

A player should only be paid for the time he plays. Correct me if I'm wrong but contracts are not guarateed for retirement???

The NHL doesn't allow hockey players to hold other jobs, they say it's because of potential off ice injuries. However you could hire Hudlers dad as your driver and pay home 3.5 million.
