LOL when I first saw this thread I thought we were talking about 1000 pts in a single season...LMAO!
-
Ahhh...thank u. Point remains the same. I hope I am wrong...or that they get the deal done b4 the hearing!
-
Didn't Afinogenov leave to go to the Predators two seasons ago?! I could have my Buffalo forward mixed up.
-
Pretty much backs up what I said. Holland is going to be political but get his point across. Look at Avery, Camilleri, Afinogenov. They r all with different teams now.
-
Everyone seems to think this is a good thing...history shows it's usually not. If Holland works it out before the hearing no harm, but if it goes to hearing it usually damages the relationship long term. Teams don't like their hands to be forced when handing out salaries and players don't like to feel like they're not valuable. Imagine going to a public hearing at your job and having your boss point out ten reasons why your not that as good at your job as you think you are. The worst part is if the agreed salary happens to be something the Wings decide they can't match he's an automatic UFA. At least if he leaves on an offer sheet we get picks. It might work to keep him short term but in the long run it all but guarantees he's no longer a Wing for life.

I think your missing my point. NOW: I don't think by this point Howard should need a fall back option. If he were going to magically be able to play split time next year with Ozzie and take the majority two years from now he should be a good backup this year. FUTURE: If you believe he is going to be ready in two-three years then why draft/sign two more goalies with career no. 1 potential in the same year.
-
To each his own opinion...I guess one of us will eat crow eventually.
-
Then why sign two goalies with "future franchise" tags in the same year? Larsson and McCollum? AGAIN...I am not saying he won't be...I am just saying all these decisions raise concern.
-
Again I hope that Howard proves me wrong...but those are not qualities that you want in a future franchise goalie. I was super excited for Jimmy and thought we had the future locked in goal but given the Wings recent decision with drafting and Howards position within the organization I am beginning to doubt that he's going to be the star I once thought. Only time will tell.
-
Sorry I hope I am wrong but I just get the feeling that the Red Wings brass don't have a ton of confidence that Howard will end up being the NHL starter they thought he would become. If they don't even trust him to play back up how can he be a starter one day? Then there is the fact that the drafter McCollum this year and they have the swedish prospect coming over this year. Things don't look good for Jimmy.

I would love to keep Flip and I think most likely we will but like most people I am confident that if he does leave the compensation will be well worth it. Let the chips fall where they may.
-
Great video...I am excited to see him play in person.
-
Well then it's probably a good thing that Scotty Bowman, Jim Nill, Stevie Y, and Kenny Holland disagree with you.
-
I stand corrected...what a good pick up.

Euro triplets now???? As to the original question I think it's entirely possible all three hit 100pts. Hossa would be heavier with the goals than assists, Pav heavier with assists than goals and Z should be somewhere in the middle. What a wonderful accomplishment that would be the "triple triple club!"
-
He is probably waiting for his burger to get off the grill and for his wife to bring him another cold one from the cooler...give the man a day off. It's the 4th!
-
I was kind of hoping for a comeback round here in Detroit for good old Sergi but with the aqusition of Hossa that doesn't seem likely. I presume he will resign in Washington as he was a good fit but who knows maybe Russia will come calling with a giant contract and he'll go back and play their to finish his career. Either way what he did for the Wings was great and he is without a doubt a first ballot HHOFer.
-
I take offense to you grouping me with name callers and Holland bashers. I didn't use profanity or call anyone and idiot to try to get my point across and I am not pretending to know more than a GM who consistantly builds winners I simply offered my opinion as to why I think D-Mac is the better choice over Downey. I like them both but if I am making a choice I choose D-mac. Feel free to disagree with my or my methods for trying to add credibility to my decision but don't group me with eveyone else please.

Did the Red Wings add anyone to the roster in 2002??? (retorical question) The same applies this season. The only exception is if we have a MAJOR injury (knocks on wood) or for some reason Ozzie falls apart...which I don't see happeneing. This new Ozzie is an absolute steal, he was always good...now he is great and with the D we have any of our goalies look even better!
-
I am still hoping for another 6million dollar a year cap increase and some flexablity from Hank, Mule, and Hossa to keep this deadly unit together long term.
-
Tampa Bay not withstanding...(everyone knows the eastern teams just play for a chance to watch the west win the cup!) I think that the Sharks pose our greatest threat.
-
Are you sure that's not Maltby sporting a new tinted visor???

Their was a thread a while back where a friend of a friend installs custom closets and did it for Flip.
