2011 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 28th, 3:00 PM ET
Booster313 replied to NeverForgetMac25's topic in General
According to TSN Mason could be on the move, do you think we could get Mason for Kindl or Ericsson plus a draft pick or two? I am not so sure but there aren't too many goalies available within our price range. -
Actually Osgood is on the ice and practicing, it was my understanding that he is getting closer.
-
Would you rather see him sat for an unreal reason?!
-
You are correct, banks are making a profit it has very little to do with that, it has more to do with the fact that credit policies have changed, and financing a 400 million dollar arena is considered a risky venture. The city of Detroit can not afford a new arena, Ilitch knows that and has never been one to handcuff the city for his own benefit. He has put millions or dollars back into the city of Detroit including helping the auto industry when they were at their worst a year and a half ago.
-
The Wings have a short term deal in place for the JLA and will build a new arena when able. Think 5yr time frame. It's difficult to secure financing for a new hockey arena right now with many banks just coming out of the bailouts.
-
I like Buff but he is a 3million dollar player...
-
The way I read it was that the Rangers wanted to add a winger for Gaborik and were looking at going after Richards in the off season. As for if the Wings would be in the mix were either player available the answer is no. The days of the Red Wings making a big splash at the trade deadline are pretty much over unless they decide to move one of our core players or until Lidstrom decides to retire/Rafalski's contract expires.
-
Looks great! Now I am going to try and get a little more sleep.
-
I would be happy to put together a team if you provided me with the rosters Salaries and contract lengths for each team. As well as UFA vs RFA status. I am feeling lazy LOL

You can buy a jersey at the Joe but you'll pay 30-40 more than you can get it elsewhere. I really like Fanatic U but it's in the suburbs. Hand sewn Jersey's there are around 115.00 out the door. As far as entertainment, there are a few nice breweries in Detroit that are fun to visit. Just google Detroit Breweries. You can always gamble we have 3 casinos I think MGM is the nicest and has three nice but pricey restaurants. There is Campus Martis which has ice skating, and a Hard Rock Cafe right across the street. As far as entertainment you really have to travel outside the city itself to get to museums there is Green Field Village in Dearborn, our Zoo is open in Royal Oak, You could check and see what's playing at the Fox theater... That's downtown, Chelios owns a bar downtown with some hockey stuff in it and there's Hockeytown Cafe not to far from the Westin.

I am concerned that Ozzie might not make it back in time for the playoffs. It would be nice to get some goalie insurance incase Howard goes down/struggles.
-
Hate to burst your bubble but even with Modano not returning in your scenario we are 156k over the cap after the deal. If we are going to give up those kind of assets I'd like to see someone much younger coming over. The Wings don't trade roster players at the deadline as a rule. It doesn't seem viable.

BTW Blue this is probably the best thread you've ever started.

My Team Zetterberg Crosby Nash Ovechkin Stamkos Towes Kessler Getzlaf Kopitar Duchene Seguin Gaborik Doughtery Weber Green Seabrook Burns Letang Miller Fluery When did Crosby say that?

Giguere, Jean-Sebastien $6,000,000 2011 (UFA) CAP HIT too large Vokoun, Tomas » G $5,700,000 2011 (UFA) CAP HIT too large Bryzgalov, Ilya » $4,250,000 2011 (UFA) Phoenix won't let him go, or I'd say make it work. Leclaire, Pascal » $3,800,000 2011 (UFA) Not playing well and CAP HIT too large Roloson, Dwayne » $2,500,000 2011 (UFA) TBL won't let him go. Smith, Mike » G $2,200,000 2011 (UFA) We could have had him if we were interested Niemi, Antti » G $2,000,000 2011 (UFA) No interest Anderson, Craig » $1,812,500 2011 (UFA) Colorado won't let him go Hedberg, Johan » $1,500,000 2011 (UFA) NJD probably won't let him go otherwise an option Turco, Marty » G $1,300,000 2011 (UFA) No interest and Hawks won't let him go. Conklin, Ty » G $1,300,000 2011 (UFA) Most Viable option Budaj, Peter » G $1,250,000 2011 (UFA) Colorado won't let him go Garon, Mathieu » $1,200,000 2011 (UFA) He's an option in Columbus will trade Harding, Josh » G $1,200,000 2011 (UFA) Minnesota won't let him go Theodore, Jose » $1,100,000 2011 (UFA) Another viable option Auld, Alex » G $1,000,000 2011 (UFA) Another viable option Labarbera, Jason » $1,000,000 2011 (UFA) Another viable option Boucher, Brian » $925,000 2011 (UFA) Philly won't let him go. As you can see the goalie market is pretty thin in terms of a clearcut upgrade.

I love your AVATAR! I wouldn't move Eaves, I think he has the potential to be a 20 goal 40-50pt guy that we can sign for a couple million long term. Plus he is pretty gritty and a good PKer. Think Cleary 2.0
-
I could see Rafalski taking a two year 3-4 million dollar deal when this one is up, probably with some incentives. As for Weber, I'd love to have him but I think a more realistic patch for Lidstrom would be Kaberle.
-
I can see the annoyance factor as the both underachieve at times and they both step it up at times, but I think that Fedorov underachieving still put him ahead of Franzen most of the time, and when Fedorov turned it on... Well then you have to start looking at Wayne, Mario, Yzerman, Howe for comparisons. I think (and I will probably catch a lot of flack for this) Fedorov was the most purely raw talented player to ever where the Winged Wheel and had he applied himself on a daily basis could have been one of the greatest of all time.
-
I think you can connect really any athletes if you want it's your perception... And perception is everything... But No Franzen is great on his own, he quickly fades compared to Fedorov but then most would.
-
I like Salei I think he's a good value.
-
Hasek actually does have to clear waivers and he actually has better KHL numbers than Nabakov, had played more games, and makes 3million a year. He's not coming back.
-
I think it's just wondering, as previous poster said these threads always seem to be goalie bs goalie. I don't know why, I am happy to have Nabby, it's not about who is better or worse. Hopefully he clears, although I am doubtful.
-
^^^^ right it's not about Howard vs Osgood vs Nabakov. It's adding a piece the the puzzle that can help the team.
-
I will have to wait another 13hrs or so until I find the answer... Not expecting much. I think I will drink and wake up at about 11:30.
