I would welcome Joseph back in an "insurance" capacity for the right price. I doubt that he would come though. The key difference between Hasek's situation and Joseph's situation that year is that Hasek said he couldn't finish the season due to injury and quit that year. Joseph was basically forced out. We never did that to Hasek, we never sent him to the minors, and we never made him rent a cavalier to drive back to Detroit. The Red Wings are usually a very classy orgainzation and I understand why they made the choices they did that year but Joseph was treated pretty bad.

This article has to make me wonder if this guy was secretly beat up by a Detroiter or Michigander in high school. Even if everything this guy says is 100% true and we are in for a rocky ride I have to ask. What would prompt a sports magazine to blatantly attack a city for no reason? There's no current rivalry, this isn't a retort. It's a unprevoked attack and an unnecessary one at that. It doesn't even make good business sense. People in any other state could care less about the article and those of us that have lived or do live in Michigan are outraged by it. So did including this article sell a single copy of their magazine? I think not. It may have increased traffic to their page for the time being, but I for one could give a f*** less what they were selling on the top of the page banner ads.

I don't want to be premature but I don't think the Wings would call a press conference to announce resigning Hasek. Thanks for everything Dom, you will always be one of the greatest goalies to ever play the game, and you did it your own way. Like Frank said, "I did it my way". This year you proved that not only are you a great goalie, but also a great teammate.

The reason that this team has the players that we have for as long as we've had them and at the price we keep them is because of the way that Kenny and the Ilitch's treat their players. They are loyal to the end. D-Mac at least deserves the same treatment. If he is a liability he will be on the bench, just like he was in the finals. Babcock makes that decision, not Holland. Besides as DigitalJohn pointed out he played pretty well for taking a year off and not having a real training camp. Let's see if he can get himself in shape over the summer then make our final call. Everyone acts like the money is coming out of our pockets...D-Mac's contract isn't going to change the ticket prices one way or another.

Mac didn't even make enough money this year to pay back his debts....besides who wants to own a business in this economy???

I wanted Bert and Schneider back...in hind site it is better that they moved on. I like Schneider a lot and I think that if you replace Raf for Schneider we still win the cup...but Raf wants to be here...Schneider didn't. As far as Bert goes he was a nice enough guy in his short time with the Wings and he did want to play in Detroit but in the end he went for the paycheck and I can't say I blame him. His value will probably go to the cellar after this contract is up. As previously mentioned some of our younger guys stepped up and really filled that physical gap. As for Lang...he played a few good years with Detroit and is still a good player...there just wasn't room for him at 4 million. Not even at 3 million. Now for 2.5 Million I might think about Lang and his clutch playoff goals the problem is who do you take out???

Dom has been a model backup since his assignment. If it's no broke don't fix it...even if Ozzie starts tha majority of the games Dom is an ALLSTAR backup.

Ozzie has been great the entire post season and will be fine for us in game six. Was it his best game? No, in fact I think he should have held the post on the game tieing goal, that being said; he saved the game numerous times before and after that. Goal tending wasn't the problem last night, the problem was that the Wings didn't start playing until the second period. It should have never been an OT game. We will see redemption in game six. Oh and if you think that I'm being biased look at my signature, I'm a Hasek Fan.

I think he would have been one of the greats...playing with Cheli really brought him along.

Eva, I've realized that you aren't the pure stat machine you would like everyone to believe you are. Your just as biased as the rest of us on here. When the stats support your fact you spew them like Xanx being handed out to mental patients at bed time, yet when you disagree with someone you angraly try to make your point fact with biased statements. If you believe that Dallas still would have won then say that, it's your opinion and your welcome to it. The fact is no one knows who would have won if the goal was disallowed. Hockey isn't all about stats and percentages. It's also about the intangibles the X-factor.

It was a really though call but I say that Maltby sits. It was between he and Mac and they both have their up and down sides. Maltby can PK, is faster, and can move the puck pretty well. Mac has a slighty better goal scoring touch, but is much slower...he can (albeit not as effective as he was) and still will drop the gloves if necessary. In the end it came down to, there are many players on the Wings that can do what Maltby does, and in fact even better than he does it but there are only a few that can do what Mac is out there to do and he is still arguably the best at it. Lilja although willing has only 3 fights under his belt and Drake was always a checker. For better or worse Mac is our enforcer.
