Was it a really nasty hit??? I watched the game and I don't remember anything too terrible, I must have missed it.

Prospal would have been a nice addition and the price is great, however the Wings would have had to give up a first round pick for the same deal. It kind of makes me wonder if we're going to look at a second tier play like Feds or Lapointe, or if we are really working on Hossa. As far as the D goes I think it will be Stuart or Blake if he decides he wants to come here. It seems that the prices are within reason.

Does anyone else think that the lack of movement anywhere in the league is a bit eerily quiet??? Last year by this time Guerin and Tkachuk had both been moved. I have the feeling that this is the calm before the storm...

I really want to see the Red Wings and the Avs as a first round matchup!

WTF! Can't the hockey gods give the Wings a break? Hasek, then Malts, Z, Homer, Drake, Z again, Cleary, Kronwall, Dom again, Raf, Lids, and now Cheli and Downey. Is this the most injuries in a season???
-
Actually I don't think there is a big difference from what I just read the hip flexor is an outside muscle strain and the inside is the groin muscle. I think they have just been careful not to use Hasek and groin injury in the same sentence when he's out for a few games given the way his 2003 campaign ended. I have to be honest, based on early reports I was a little surprised to hear that he wasn't participating in the on ice workouts. He is on the road trip though which is good and if we have the ability to rest him before the final stretch and the playoffs I guess it's a good thing.

Hasek is out with a Hip Flexor...not a Groin injury.

I love this idea except on a perfect world I'd replace Hudler with Flip.

Those are both really funny! We need to cheesy Wings commercials. I forgot...we do. "I wore it....allright!" ~Kris Draper

At the risk of sounding crude...Pam would look better not wearing a jersey at all. Well as long as she has all her make-up on.

I've had the feeling since I saw Mac play in Flint and talked to him after the game that this comeback was always his to loose.
-
Actually I am for Fedorov coming back, I don't think he's a better option than say Hossa, but when you factor in that he'd probably come reasonably priced and that we have a pretty decent shot at retaining him past the end of this year, then yes I think that Fedorov is a good idea. That being said, I don't hate Downey like I said I like him but if all things are equal, all things being Mac's and Down's level of play, fighting, goal scoring and I have to pick one based on what they've earned, all I am saying is Downey has been hear a year Mac is and always will be a Red Wing for life, that's it. For all I know Downey is still better than Mac that remains to be seen once Mac plays a few NHL level games. If Downey is better then there's no arguement, you keep the better player. I just don't think you can use loyalty as a arguement for Downey over Mac that's all. P.S. How do you know Downey is a better fighter? That's really an impossible call to make unless they fight the exact same players in the same circumstances or unless they fight eachother which won't happen this year.
-
I have love for Downey I really do, but Darren earned a spot on this roster for ten years. If he can come back and be a factor he deserves the spot.
-
I can't wait to see this happen, as long as people expect a player comparable to Downey they will probably be pleasantly surprised, if they expect Mac from 5 years ago...well that remains to be seen.

I would take that deal for four million not five, they would have to also throw in a defensmen like Kaberle or McCabe. I agree though, Leafs rumors are a dime a dozen.

You have about 10 votes from me so far Hank...let's keep this post in the top 5!
-
Hank, I am confused when I click on the vote button it doesn't ask me which city on want to vote for, am I voting for your city because it's the page i'm on?

You've got it!

Have any of you who are weighing in on McCarty even seen him play this year? He's not going to come in and be the top six forward we are looking for but I guarantee he would log more minutes than Drake or Downey. I equate his skating to Chelios. He's not very fast but it's rare when he gets beat because he's smart on the ice. Then there is the X factor. McCarty has something to prove and that counts for a lot.

Thanks, I wanted to let you know that I actually saw the Kitchner Rangers play last night, you've got a good team there! Completely outworked the Whalers, but Smith kept them in it.
-
If this ever happens it will be the one and only reason I can think of to actually dislike Hasek. What a stupid idea. If they want to generate revenue how about more player endorsments, that actually serves two purposes it creates revenue and it gets the players face out there in commercials. Or what is they just sponsered plays, "You've just seen the Hasek make the powerade glove save, remember when you need extra energy to make the big play only powerade will do."
-
"I said....put me down for ten large on the Wings to win the cup!!!"
-
I would gladly pay that....if Feds agrees to an extension. If he's coming just for the playoffs well then it's too much. Out of the possible top six forwards we can add I think we have the best chance of getting Feds to reup and I also think he would cost far less than the other options in terms of what we would have to give up, that's why he's my first choice. That beings said I think bolstering the D is more important at this point.

I equate Ozzie's play right now to Dom's play earlier in the season. It's not so much that these losses or goals are all his fault but it's also possible that from time to time your goalie needs to steal a game and that's not happening either. I have every confidence that Ozzie will turn his game around. Ozzie is and always will be a very solid, stable goaltender. He's never going to be Broduer, Roy, Sawchuck, or even Hasek for that matter. He is certainly just as good as Toskola or Bryzgalov though. The grass isn't always greener on the other side, and trust me the Wings will never trade Osgood, at worst he'll play as a backup, he has earned the respect and loyalty of Kenny and the front office. He will retire a Wing in one capacity or another.
