No he didn't have to stand on his head but he made the clutch saves when necessary, and I agree that play could have been disastrous but it wasn't dirty. Dom and other goalies have done it a million times before, if a player is coming in on a break away and he has his head down or doesn't have control of the puck you challenge. Maybe if Dom would have been perfect and not let in any goals it could have been a better game for him...oh wait...maybe if he did let in a goal???? He played as well as he had too. He was perfect. We won. For once lets not make this a debate...the title of my thread is not who's better or who sucks, can't you be happy for both goalies when they play well?

It has nothing to do with going over the cap this year The ducks have plenty of money for Schnieder and Neidermayer this year, it's the previous commits for next season that would be a problem. I don't think you should have ot deal with next year this season, who's to say they can't make a trade over the summer to free space or that some players won't retire, or be injured, or that the cap won't increase for that matter.

For those of you that haven't discovered Red Wings TV yet I highly recommend it. In the after practice interview Babcock says towards the end of the interview that Dom will go against Minny....I can only asume that he's talking about Friday night. Good job Dom! He showed great progress Tuesday night, he should only get better, and I'm sure Ozzy will be net either Sunday or Monday. It will be great to have both of our goalies rolling.

I think the rule is crappy in general...maybe Schneider will out play Neidermayer this year and Burke would want to move him and keep Schneider. This is a major issue with the new CBA. DISCLAMIER: I am not implying that Schneider is better than Neidermayer, I am just trying to make a point.

It's amazing to me that even when the team is playing as well as it is we still find things to argue about. Or the same happens to Ozzie.

That one was great as was the butterfly save from point blank at the top of the crease in the third period.

Dom had a great game Tuesday not because it was his toughest game, but because he made 3 or 4 really good clutch saves. That's what you want to see from your goalie, and it's all Osgood has had to do so far this season. The Wings D are top notch. They don't give up a lot of shots and they're aren't too many defensive break downs.

I disagree, I was happy to see Dom spralling and stacking the pads on a few saves last night. He was playing his game, and he looked confident doing so, something he's been missing since very early in the season. When Dom is not flopping it means he is doubting himself and that's a bad thing. He's flopped his entire career, love it or hate it (and it's worked for him more than it hasn't) that's his style. Flop On Dom!!!

Couldn't agree more...let him get a few games under his belt. I think as long as they both keep playing well it should be a 50/50 split and Ozzy deservingly is a few games up on Dom. I think it will all even out by season's end.

I agree with everything you've said...well except the Kipper part. I'd take him if he was available! The wings will pick up a trade deadline bargin...IF it makes sense. (See Fedorov hopefully) They won't trade the farm for Sundin. It's not that I don't like Sundin I do but we shouldn't give everything up for a rental we have no chance of resigning.

Ok seriously...Fedorov and Shanny of course. Ovechkin, and Sid the Kid obviously. Some less obvious Lundqvist and Bryzgalov. I also like Bert still and Schneider. Oh yeah and McCarty...does he count?

They would if they are out of playoff contention by trade deadline...the other option is get nothing for Feds in the summer. Unless you believe that Feds will reup with the Jackets. Of course the Jackets won't deal if they are in the playoff huint, at least not for the bargin price we'd be willing to pay. As for Rob Blake I wouldn't want to give up what we'd probably have to for a rental player. I really believe that Fedorov would reup with us in the summer if we did get him as a rental.

The article about all the swedes got me thinking about the Russian Five and how much success we had with our drafting of Russian players over the years. I know the CBA with Russian is an issue but that didn't stop us from getting Fedorov to defect 16 years ago, so my question is why the lack of russians in Detroit recently and do you think it would benefit Datsyuk even more to have a russian forward to play along side. Side Note- Yes I know we had Markov last year and Grigs was given an opportunity to make the team this year but to my knowledge he is the last Russian draft pick the Wings have made. Thoughts???

When a forward is struggling the coach just tells them to keep shooting and that their getting chances etc...Goalies need saves to play better...Osgood has been good this season and I don't think we should bench him in favor of Dom but I do think it should be a 50/50 split. When you look at Dom's last start he let in 3 goals on 30 shots I believe. He did not play poorly and at times he looked really good. It was a postive step for him. Not his best game but a positive step. In Osgoods last two starts he has given up 3 goals each time, (he also gave up all three shootout goals) Last night he had 19 saves on 22 goals...That's worse than Dom's last start. I'm not bashing Osgood...I think he has played well. I just think that based on the last start Dom had that his playing time should be increasing a little or at least staying the same, not getting less. I know Ozzie got the win but that's because we scored more than three goals. It seems to me that Dom played a little better and his reward was being sat for 3 or 4 games.

In hind site it appears that letting Bert walk was the right decision, that being said I was impressed about his comments of Detroit when refering to his visit with the Ducks on opening night. He said how great the fans were and that he was looking forward to seeing a lot of the guys from the team again. He seemed like a legitmate nice guy, now a legitmate power forward??? That's another question entirely.

What an amazing story. It's great to hear things like this...the best part is we heard about it from a fan, not a news reporter. Sometimes I think athletes and celebs in general do things because it's good publicity. If not for this woman we'd never know about AO's good deed.

I wanted to give all the people on LGW a place to come and tell Dom how bad he played. So let me be the first to say it. blah blah blah...Dom sucks...blah blah...bench him start Ozzy....blah blah....He's old....blah blah....he flops too much.... I hope I didn't miss anything. Seriously I don't know what's wrong with Dom. He needs to find his game and he will. I personally think he needs to see a few more shots early on. He seemed to get going a little in the third period. We played a pretty damned good game for the most part, however the D did give up 4 breakaways tonight and that's what killed us. I am not making excuses, a great goaltender needs to step up and make those saves when the D does make a mistake, and I have every confidence that Dom will, in the meantime Ozzy will continue to roll along with his amazing year! Lets support both our goalies and want them do succeed.

At one point in the first it seemed like Drake unbuttoned his mask and was ready to fight, it was when Downey and Huds were in the scrum. I thought that was awesome...A+ for effort Drake and Downey

I was at the game and I thought there were bad calls both ways...It's hard to pay attention to who get more calls their way at the game but I agree that these borderline crap calls need to go. Let the teams play, may the best team win. Only call the blatant stuff, the trapping and clutching through neutral ice and the dangerous stuff.
