I agree with everything you've said except the bit about Ozzie, I believe Howard makes the exact same amount that Ozzie makes. I do think that our being able to afford Kipper or any other big name FA depends on how our youth develops. The bigger question however is, assuming we can afford a big name FA would you rather spend that on a goalie, or go with avg goaltending (Ozzie & Howard) and bring in a scorer, say Heatly or Spezza?
-
I would take Kipper in a heart beat, the question is will we be able to afford him with Lids and Z becoming free agents soon as well?

Ok here's the deal, Only Nick knows what Nick wants to do, but I have a pretty good idea. My coworkers son plays with Nicks son on a team in Novi, so my source is pretty good. Firsy he didn't spend the lockout trying to live in sweeden, actually he helped coach his sons team, second he does miss his country and will probably eventually go back, but the general consesus is that he will reup for 2 years. Things could change but that's what his son supposedly said.

I think he would be a close tie with Sopel.

The problem is not if we want a enforcer or not, it seems to me Holland and company would be perfectly happy to have one on the team, their just not willing to sacrafice goals to do it. The Red Wings haven't had an enforcer that couldn't contribute since I've been watching Hockey, D-Mac could score, scrap, and he wasn't a defensive liability. That's what it takes to be an enforcer on the Wings and unfortunately their aren't many of those players available.

Jack, I agree completely...pssst, we didn't resign Bert.
-
I would take him for a similar price and role as Drake, he could add some grit, (depending on his back) would be a good insurance policy for the kids, and has been known to score some timely goals in the post season. Not to mention he drops the gloves.

Yzerman, was by far the best overall player since Gordie Howe to play for the Wings and in my opinion the best of all time. He was the complete package, Federov probably had move raw talent but lacked Yzerman's determination and work ethic.

Very cool logo, what team is that?

They have said sometime this week on the NHL schedule so I assume that that includes each individual team as well...look for it later this week or early next.

How about number 27 or 29?
-
I'd like to see Markov back but it would take 3mill per. He made 2.5 last season and played solid. He earned a raise. Lets forget Yashin, and see what's available at the deadline. We'll make the playoffs either way.

Just received a call ten minutes ago, my order has been filled. I'm sure you'll be fine as I didn't fax my initial request in until 7/5. See you there!!!
-
I called today, they said that there is no number to check, so I faxed a letter requesting confirmation. Still nothing.

This is great, we just need an LGWer to record it...any volunteers??? Then we can make CD's for the up coming season.
-
Only if we can sign him to a per game contract instead of a one season contract.

Ok so 30 goals was a stretch, we lost 19 goals and 33 assists. I agree Bert is a gamble and I think Kenny will pull a rabbit out of his hat, in fact I am looking forward to it. Easy killer, I posted from my Treo this morning, although highly functional it does have it's limitations when it comes to web browsing and I didn't feel like taking the time to look up exact figures. So I guessed. I was wrong. Maybe I should pony up for the iphone. Hopefully your right about Flip, he definitely looked like he was going to shine given more time last year. Zetterberg however doesn't count, we had his points last year, just on a different line. On a side note I am hoping the Grigs will be 80% of what was promised several years ago and score 40-50pts.

I don't think it's been a bad off-season for sure but in loosing Lang we're down almost 30 goals from last year. Also Bert wasn't much of a factor in the playoffs last year but I feel he could have been this year. He would have made up some of that offense that we lost. On the D I am up in the air. I think Rafalski is an upgrade over Schneider however we did loose Markov, our D will honestly depend on how Kronwall and Quincey/Meech do this year. All of that said, I think we will have a fine regular season, If he can pick up the right player at the right price then we should, but if there's not much out there we'll still make the playoffs and we should aquire our players at the deadline. Either way I can't wait to watch some hockey. S NOTE:Sorry for my lenghty post.

Wouldn't matter, on a 2 year 12million dollar deal the cap hit would be 6 million per year even if you paid him 10million the first and 2 million the second. I think so, playing in Detroit for Peter would be the closest thing to playing in the Swedish elite league, while staying in the NHL.

Will do Loo, where do you live?
-
Zion, I don't have the website with me. I am posting from my Treo before work. But you can google Red Wings training camp and you should be able to find the fax order form and some basic info.

I went to TC last year and I will be going this year as well. (Thursday thru Sunday) Maybe we could have an LGW lunch or dinner one day. As far as the tickets it depends on what your going for. If you want to get as many autographs as possible, save your money and get the standing room. The team practices in squads and if your watching one another is going outside to the upstairs room where they ride bikes, shower and leave. You will miss some players if you watch all the games. Also keep a keen eye out as players, coaches, and former players are wandering the building. There are three exits that I know of as well. The main exit/entrance, the autograph exit, where the baracades are set up, and an exit opposite the autograph side that players like to duck out. Also keep your stuff with you because you never know where you might see a wing in the city. I ran into them everynight I was there.

Good call Matt, at this point I feel the same way, don't sign someone just for the sake of signing them. That being said, I wish that Holland would have given Bert the extra year when he asked for it, they had agreed on price, term was the issue. On a side note, depending on what Avery expects to earn after arbitration I wouldn't mind signing him again, he's not big but he certainly is gritty.

Thanks! This is a happy day for all Wings fans, somehow I think you and I are the happiest! Check your PM, I just sent you a message.
