Ok this is another Ek rumor, I don't know too much about this guy but his TSN report looks pretty good. What does everyone think?
-
I am confident that Dom will return. The word out of LA is that he turned down a 2 year 10million dollar offer. It's obviously not about the money with him, and as far as winning, I don't think there are any teams closer to winning a cup that are in need of a starting goaltender. Plus he likes playing for Detroit and the community. I say when Dom finally does retire we start a petition to retire his number, because buffalo isn't going to do it and he deserves it.
-
It's a fair price for a decent forward who would be great if he were about 6 inches taller.
-
I'm really excited about this kid, if he can live up to 85% of the hype prior to his accident he'll be great player.
-
Here Here! Could it be that our despise for this rumor stems from our signature bars?
-
That's the same source, NHLline cites fourthperiod as the source and the fourth period quotes the toronto star. It all stems from the star. The rumor is running rampant because people are in a fenzy over it.
-
Osgood is better than Raycroft and at half the price. If for some strange reason Hasek doesn't come back we go that route. On a side not Dom will be back, he already turned down a two year 10million dollar offer from the Kings.
-
What is your source for this rumor? Just out of curiosity was there also a link on this site to send your letters to Santa Claus? How about a message board for big foot and lochness sightings. Just checking DISCLAIMER: Don't mind my sarcasam I am just frustrated with all the rumors and no action.

I would like Bert best out of whos available, with Shanny being a close second. I believe that Shanny could happen now that NY has spent almost 20mil over their cap.
-
I 've never heard of Ryan Smith but Ryan Smyth is rumored to be headed to Montreal, San Jose, St. Louis among others
-
[quote name='Majsheppard' date='July 1, 2007 - 06:48PM' Except they didn't sign Smyth so they lose this by default. Insteresting that you bring that up, does this clear any cap space so the oilers can make a play at Smyth?

There are about 3 posts that touch on this topic, feel free to search but I believe we have somewhere between 7 and 8 million depending on how much cushion Kenny wants to leave.
-
What a bargin, 40 goals last year. Term is a little long but the dollar amount is fair.
-
That's very cool can you send me your spreadsheet ? ajwooster@yahoo.com. Also don't forget, Holland wants to leave between 1.2 and 1.8 for trades/injuries.
-
Where did you here that? There is still an hour left and for all we know the deal may be done. Last I read it sounded as though we were very close with Bert and Dom.
-
Hell yes I am excited. It's seven am and I grabbed my phone to check LGW, BUZZ, Spectors, TSN, Mlive,DETnews, fourthperiod, and The Freep. Nothing new to report yet. It's like waking up on Christmas to find Santa never came.
-
Don't worry about that article. It's an edititorial. The only quotes from Holland are regarding Dom. The rest is the authors opinion of what might happen. Lots of that stuff flying around right now. The papers don't have any real new news to report but they want to put something about the situation in the paper to sell copies.
-
Sounds like Holland has a plan A and a plan B. We can't have it both ways if we want most of our guys back then we won't be signing Smyth of any other major FA's unless they give us a MAJOR discount. We'll have a great team either way. Go Wings!!!
-
Pretty soon your going to have to change the name of this thread to "Today's NOT the day."

Welcome to the NHL and thanks for being a new fan. As far as legace goes, he was a classic case of biting of more than you can chew. He was a hell of a back up who was never meant to be a starter in my opinion. It was a combination of his actions as well as his words that sealed his fate. The way it went down, he had been telling Kenny, the Wings, then media that he wanted his shot, he wanted to be the guy, he even went as far to say that when Cujo's contract was up if the Wings brought in another big FA that he would leave. So the Wings gave him his shot and although he wasn't the sole reason for our loss that season, he wasn't the reason for any of the wins either. When you demand a shot at number 1 you better make sure your up to the challenge.

Bryz has only played in the playoffs in short stints. Nothing sustainable. If he were truly an elite goalie why would Anaheim sign giggy the 35 year old tender to a multi year 6mil per deal when Bryz is 28 an makes less than 1.5mil. Not trying to start a fight, you could make a strong arguement either way, just offering a different opinion.
-
I remember another goaltender who proved to be very consistant in a backup roll/split time starter...and when he got his chance to start it's didn't pan out...what was his name, oh yeah! Legace. Not saying it would happen with Brzy but it could, stick with Dom at least you know what your getting and what the risks are.

http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0326/1128/rss16 Go back and read this article again...Holland not once says he isn't close to signing his free agents. This is more media propaganda. Trying to sell papers. Holland is quoted in saying he will talk to all of them up until and last day and that Matty is a big part of their team, that's it. His other quote is pertaining to the free agency in general. The rest or the article is hot air.
-
I disagree. That quote is Holland's last ditch effort to bring down asking prices. The salary demands for Dom, Bert, and Markov are thought to be very reasonable and well within Detroits budget, with plenty to spare for a top six forward. (albiet not one of the top teir FA's) Right now Holland is working hard to work something out with Schneider, if that doesn't happen they will let him go and sign the other 3.
