I agree, I don't understand why they won't include our Winter Classic!
-
Howard is the guy, I think everyone knows that, including Howard. But a human Howard isn't a bad thing, keep in mind it's a contract year for him, every bad game brings his price down a bit! LOL That said this game wasn't really a Howard thing, but both Ozzie and Dom have gotten pulled many times on games where it didn't seem it was their fault, bad bounces etc. That's just what Bab's does. And Howard was far from stellar Friday either.

I am glad to see Ozzie in for one reason, must mean that Babs has faith in him again. It's only a good thing going forward. Having two very capable goalies is better than one.

I am not so sure that Modano won't be back. If he comes back in March and plays well he might feel like he doesn't want his career to end this way.

Zetterberg questionable, Rafalski game-time decision
Booster313 replied to Rick Zombos Ghost's topic in General
There is no way that contract is anything but a win. Lets say worse case Zetterbergs back is f***ed, he'll retire and not count against the cap, let's say he keeps going out of the lineup but plays awesome when he is in, the just use LTIR to relieve cap space when he's out, finally let's say he doesn't want to retire but just plays like s***, well then we send him the griffins and again he doesn't count against the cap... And if none of those things happen and he just continues to play well into his early 40's well that's the best senario. -
4th best... You forget Hasek.

Forsberg was notorious for diving during the epic Red Wings vs Avalache days. He would fall over if you looked at him wrong. Now Sakic, that was a classy Avalanche player.

Commentary question regarding backwards jersey
Booster313 replied to Lord Stanely's topic in General
I've never really heard of such a thing, I wonder what the significance is. -
I did!

If we cut traded Hudler and put Modano on LTIR could we fit Rolston?
-
At this point I would take pretty much anything for Hudler... I hope that he can turn his game around.
-
The Red Wings have never put up with a players demands to make the big club. He isn't the first and won't be the last player to go back to Europe... It says something about a players character if they are willing to learn and work hard and earn a spot on a roster.

In fairness there was a lot less competition for those trophies back then. Sawchuck was elite no doubt and it's all semantics but he wasn't facing 100 mile and hour shots, players weren't as fast and weren't in near the shape they are now. Most shots came low on the ice. The point is not that Osgood is better than Sawchuck, he's not. It's nearly impossible to compare players of different eras because te game was different.
-
Interesting... I wonder how that would look.

I was disappointed, good for him that he scored a shootout goal in his first game, I am not saying it wasn't cool, I just think the OP hyped it far to much for me. As far as spinorama goals go, I think Bert's last year was WAY more impressive. Edit: I found NOTHING disrespectful about it at all.
-
In all honesty no, but from everything I have read he wasn't the allstar that Gordie and Ted were and was basically retired as a formality because he played on the production line and was up in age at the time that it happened.
-
Then how do you explain Sid Abel? Not Datsyuk?
-
He wasnt a sieve in 2009 during the playoffs, people seem to quickly forget that because of his lack luster 2009 regular season and his abysmal 2010 outing.
-
If Modano is able to return and is healthy, I don't think we need to make a move. Maybe unloading Hudler if his play has not improved but then the question becomes what could you really get in return?
-
This has been debated at length... I for one think Fedorov, Osgood, and Shanahan have done enough to be retired for the Wings in terms of contributions, however the other contributing factor also seems to be longevity, and in many cases home grown talent. Although Osgood didn't play his entire career here he is the only one of the three that didn't do so by choice. I would say Osgood does eventually get his number retired but it might be an honor he is bestowed later down the road, it won't be done the very next season and to the same fanfare as Lidstrom will get or that Yzerman got.

I know but I just dont want to hear it, of course if they don't make the playoffs I guess we could cite last year when we were injury ridden and still managers a mid level playoff birth!
-
I for one wish that Chicago was completely healthy. When they don't make the playoffs or when we beat them, I don't want the Chicago fans to have excuses.
-
But we all agree it's not even close to possible, therefore a unnecessary thread. If this were the first time you had some off the wall proposal then I'd be more than willing to debate it, but you have a history of these types of threads, so much in fact that Blueadams has become the lgw equilivent of krownwalling a thread. You must need attention and I feel like I have provided that to you by even responding therefore I am going to neg myself.

lol this is a thread for the offseason.
