How manny points will these players get?

I don't think it's a problem you asked, he just offered you a resource. The above message sounded kind of combative. Not a great way to start out. I am not judging, just some friendly advice. You could have clarified your request without throwing in the "is that a problem". Plekanec 77 Cammalleri 84 Roy 84 Hemsky 72 Alfredsson 80 Tavares 85

    Has anyone else seen this

He looks so young! HE has the best pornstache in hockey!
  5. I thought that I wanted Lidstrom back at this number too last year, but then I got to thinking, Nick isn't going to play unless he is still our number one defenseman, and so why should he be paid like our number 3 or 4 defenseman? If he is better than Rafi isn't it a little insulting to ask him to play for less? Yes I know Yzerman played for a lot less his last year, but Yzerman was our third line center/second line winger at that point, not our first defensive paring.
  6. Only one of the kids wants to live in sweden, the other wants to stay and finish HS here, hence the fact they are split this year.

Scott Niedermayer's number to be retired

What do you mean his best years on another team entirely... Did you watch hockey when he played with the Devils? It sounds to me like you are just identifying him with the Ducks because he, and the Ducks have been a recent thorn in our side. I think if he were a Wing they would retire his number, as long as he left on good terms. Maybe not right away like some like Lidstrom but down the road. I fully expect the Wings to one day retire Shanahan and Fedorov, albeit much later down the road. Chelios arguably played his best hockey in Chicago but both MTL and Chicago will probably retire his number.

    Datsyuk voted best Russian player

Who says it's who's better right now, as a matter of fact this thread wasn't even about Zetterberg until you hijacked it. You are the first one to jump to a stat to prove your point Eva. Statistics can be made to prove any point depending on how you use them, I've included a quote that I think it rather fitting. Statistics are like bikinis. What they reveal is suggestive, but what they conceal is vital. ~Aaron Levenstein

    Datsyuk voted best Russian player

It's all symantics they are two of the best two way players in the game, you couldn't go wrong with either choice, that being said if I had to pick one or the other it would be Datsyuk by a slim and I mean very slim margin. To the poster who chose 09 as the starting point why not go back to their first common season? 02-03 I think that Datsyuk would win but I could be wrong.

    Goalie Poll @ nhl.com

This is why Howard is getting so many votes, if the question were phrased differently, such as what goalie would you take this year to win a Stanley Cup I think that the votes would be very different. Howard is the youngest and shows promise, making him a good building block. Miller would probably be my first choice.

Draper to miss an additional 4-6 weeks

Tough break, in what is likely Drapers last season, I am sure this isn't how he wanted to go out. Let's hope he makes it back and is able to contribute in whatever capacity.

Did the wings not practice today?

An off day, not necessarily yesterday.

Did the wings not practice today?

How do you know they didn't practice, because the paper didn't have a story? Coming here you'd think hockey is the biggest thing in Detroit, but in fact it's far from it. Press probably did not cover it.

    Mike Modano Autograph Signing

The players don't set the autograph fee, they usually charge an appearance fee, the venue gets to set whatever price they like for the autograph and a lot of the higher paid athletes donate their "autograph" money to charity.

    We need...

As I scan the threads started in the last two games I see the following topics, "Osgood and Draper... turn the page", Lidstrom Final Year, with such replies as how slow he is, how he turns over the puck, how his offense is terrible. There's also "We need a goalie...Osgood is done, and my personal favorite and probably the most laughable, "Is Zetterberg on the decline?" Yes I know that everyone is entitled to their opinion, and yes last night was an abysmal outing by our winged warriors, Osgood let in four goals on 11 shots and yes he seems to be a step slower but two were not what I would call "bad" goals to give up. The Wings were giving up odd man rushes and we couldn't sustain any offensive pressure. It appears we have been hit with the injury bug again Abbey, Rafalski, Franzen, and now Cleary are all out. The part that I don't understand is the first half of this season, (yes two games ago) this team was playing so well that everyone thought the cup was on its way back. I know a lot can happen in half a season, (two more games) but it seems to me that the fall from grace was fast and hard. These are the same Detroit Red Wings that have the longest playoff streak in pro-sports history, these are the Red Wings whose idea of a terrible season is a first round exit, they have the same coach that was "the best in the NHL" a week ago, they have the same 40yr old graying leader that the city and press alike were begging to return. We have the same two forwards ESPN and Sporting News rated in the top 15 league wide. As for our goaltending, we have an aging backup who was praised for his first start this year, hell the idea of a 50/50 split was even being tossed around, and a rookie starter whom was a Calder runner up last year and has already posted a convincing shutout this season. Come on people the Lions would kill for this measuring stick. Now this is not to say that there aren't things to criticize about the team thus far, but the Red Wings have proven season in and season out that they know how to win, they always find a way to generate some kind of success...I understand why the press prints these headlines, it's polarizing and sells newspapers, I just don't get it from the fans. This team deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Players you've always wanted on the Wings

And if pigs had wings they'd fly, cheapshots or not no one else mentioned did anything remotely close to a Wing player what Claude did to Drapes. Yes you can rewrite history if you want but my loyalty won't allow me, and that event as gruesome as it was, might have been the catalyst that launched the Wings to their first cup in 42 years.

    Wings need a goalie

Osgood was awesome in both 2008 and the playoffs 2009, I wasn't leaving him out it's just mindfly said we've never had an elite goalie in the modern era, while Osgood being elite is considered a stretch by most Hasek most certainly was considered an elite goalie at the time we originally acquired him and played like it that year.

Players you've always wanted on the Wings

Hasek in his prime would have been a dream for me. The year of the draft lottery I was REALLY hoping the Wings would get the first pick and take Crosby. Some other players I would take right now would be Chris Pronger, Ryan Miller, Shane Doan, Alexander Frolov, I would love to have locked Hossa up long term, and of course Drew Doughtery would be an AWESOME addition. I thought realisticly Maxim Afinegenov would have been an interesting addtion this year or last.
