I feel like Giggy is the type of goalie who just quietly does well. He seems to be very, very positionally sound. All we see is the puck on the pads, because he's always right there. My question is, are his pads any bigger than anyone elses? If his are the max size, I am willing to be most other goalies have pads the same size, but to be honest I don't really know.

Wow, all of these threads are about predictions. Now I am not going to go write these down and chew out people if what they say are wrong. I am looking for OPINIONS. If you don't have any guesses as to how they are going to turn out, go discuss in another thread. If you have a hunch or a guess, or even a desire for what type of player they are going to turn out to be, then I'd love to hear your input. If you have a problem it would be a lot better for you to ignore it than to criticize my attempt at thought provoking discussion.

What did Zetts put up before he was a wing?

Is Filpulla going to be as good as Zetts or Dats though? What stats is he going to come up with next year? What about Hudler?

It could be done with a package of one of our star youngsters, a prospect, and a draft pick. But even then I say the price is a bit high. The issue here is that the only players we might want to get rid of, are free agents already (Lang, Bert) or no one would realistically take (Samuelsson, Lilja). Given our playoff sucess this year, and ability to draft amazingly well late in the drafts, I am doubting that this is something Ken Holland would do. Although I would definitely be excited for it to happen, I don't see it being done.

Not trying to turn this into an I love Bert thread, but signing and trading would destroy the redwings credibility with free agents.... That would be a big mistake!

I don't know if anyone already posted this, or if anyone heard this, but Barry Melrose was giving a pregame analysis on game 5, and he was asked about the Senators, and he had a freudian slip saying, "The ducks have a lot of time to sit back and just wait and see who their opponent is going to be." Ha ha ha. Has he already made up his mind as for who is going to win this one?

First of all I have absolutely no clue who Lindstrom is, and now I question your knowledge on the matter. Secondly, as much as points make the decision, they aren't all that goes into it. Lidstrom is much better defensively than Pronger is, and I think that will make all of the difference. Then you also consider the fact that Pronger had Niedermayer to feed off of for his point total. Lidstrom carried a team without Yzerman or Shanny. I think it is pretty clear cut.

I am sorry if this thread has already been posted, but I haven't seen it so I figured why not? I just feel like the wings have really figured Giggy out. I don't remember where I read it, but I read somewhere that someone thought he was amazing positionally but wasn't a good athlete, in that he couldn't move laterally fast enough. It really looked like the wings eploited that with goals going from one side of the ice to the other. That being said, it seems Babcock knows this. So my question is, who do you think they will start and why? Or who would you prefer to play against?

That being said though I think I prefer Gigeure to play against. I seriously think we have him figured.

I just read on Mlive that he wasn't revealing who he was going to play.... hmmm.... yeah I think it'll probably be Giguere as well.

I don't disagree, but look at what happened to Buffalo's home ice advantage. It means squat if a team is better than you. Now I am not necessarily saying that they are better than us, but hopefully you see the point.

I don't think the media favors detroit and I think that is pretty clear, but I think part of that is because of all of the letdowns the wings have given them. They want to sound sophisticated, and they screwed themselves over too many times the last three years, when they favored the wings, so now they try and be those 'smart callers' and pick the 'underdogs.' I think this playoff run will hopefully be enough to put the wings back on their A list.
