Unconfirmed Rumor: Legace to be dealt for a Defenseman to replace Fischer...This would make a lot of sense if Howard shows that he can play solid at this level- We lose the rights to Liv if we don't bring him over this year, right? This would free up Howard's spot in G.R. and we'd finally be able to get Liv over here while getting a solid Dman to take Fischer's spot. I'd be all in favor of this if it's true.

Are any rumors really confirmed? I think not. This forum was going bananas over McKenzie saying Yzerman's retirement could be near- he went on to say that "Near is a funny word, it could mean the end of this week, could mean the end of the season"- I posted this to spark a discussion of what you, the posters of this forum thought about it...It did in fact come from a person at Mlive who is often right about trades/signings and thought that it was worth nothing. As for Osgood; He is definitely not a top goalie in the league, but he is the best that we have- His last 5 games started were Nov 5th, Nov 6th, Nov 17th, Nov 25th, and Nov 26th. You can't honestly believe that these sporadic starts can allow any goalie to get in any kind of a rhythm. I know how this site works though- right now Manny is the man, but as soon as Osgood comes in and gets some regular action, it will be "OZZY OZZY!"- The bandwagon is sitting still right now, but it will fill up soon, as it always does in this city.

They both suck. Hopefully Marcus Vick is wearing a Lions jersey next year (on the field)

How many games has Legace won as a starter, how many Stanley Cups? If he was as good as some people here think he is, Osgood wouldn't be a Red Wing anyway. Manny is the best backup in the league, nothing more, nothing less. 3. Kronwall will hopefully be back in a couple of months, then he WILL affect the cap.

He's not our best goaltender- Osgood is. Besides, if we don't get rid of someone and bring Liv over here, we'll lose his rights- that would not be good either. Let's face it, Legace is a 30+ year old backup, best backup in the league, but a backup. Hopefully Howard proves he's ready to stay in the NHL at least in a backup role for now so we can get rid of one of these goalies- and pick up a positional player that we need. Osgood needs to see more action, and if Howard stays up here, they're not going to send Manny or Ozzy to GR- this trade would make perfect sense.

As a Spartans fan, I am 100% opposed to this...Exciting playcalling is one thing that the Sparties have going for them- If Mooch goes to E.L., Stanton will throw for like 80 yds a game.

I don't even want to call him Joey- that sounds too personal, like a player that is adored- such as calling Steve Yzerman "Stevie". Harrington is garbage, his fourth year in the league and he's still making idiotic decisions and only throws the ball to Roy and Pollard. Granted, the offensive line sucks, but Harrington has horrible vision of the field, and the decision making skills of a freshman in high school. THEN, there's the playcalling, running up the gut on every 3rd and long hasn't worked once, so let's keep trying it! Mariucci is a bonehead, I'd rather have Fontes back, at least he took some chances. On the bright side, with Mariucci on the sideline and Harrington at QB, at least we'll be able to pick up Leinhart or Stanton in the draft this year.

So are all of the naysayers still saying that Stanton is nothing more than an "ok" QB? The guy has lit it up in every single game he's played this season- I smell Heisman...

All of you Anti-Carr people are funny. It's not his fault that Michigan's talent level has dropped and MSU's has increased. If U of M won (which I strongly doubt that they will), all of the bandwagoning Carr-haters will forget about him and start cheering about the Wolverines again. I don't know what it is about the Oilers, but I've just always loved watching them on the late game on HNIC..Then when I got NHL Center Ice, I'd watch them whenever the wings aren't on- That arena is always electric and they're an exciting team to watch..

Why? Because he doesn't go to U of M or USC? Give me a break- if you've watched this guy play, you know he's the real deal. If he keeps this up, it's going to be a good battle for the Heisman.

I think it's just time to admit that they are horrible, the play calling is especially horrendous. True, the offensive line sucks big time, but it still doesn't change the fact that Harrington just throws the ball away into coverage. He hasn't matured, and hasn't stopped making stupid decisions, in fact he rarely just takes a sack. I loved it when Orlovsky came in and actually threw the ball to Rogers, Harrington doesn't even look at him- His default receiver is R. Williams, and if he's covered, he'll go to Pollard. Mike and Rogers are just sort of there, watching. The 3rd & 15 draw plays up the middle haven't worked once, so why is idiot Marriuci still calling them? I usually fight it to the end, keeping hope in my heart, but I'm just ready to admit that they SUCK- and if Farve didn't have one of the worst games of his life last week, we would have gotten killed in the opener too. You can't blame everything on Joey, but the combination of his rookie mentality and our horrible offensive line does not make for a very good day. It's time to give up on him and start looking toward the future- hopefully a future without Mariucci and his bone headed play calling too.

I made the trip to South Bend for the game and am really glad that I did. I couldn't have picked a better game to buy a ticket from a scalper- definitely got my money's worth. Stanton for Heisman! GO GREEN!
