Very good post. All of the stats that I was too lazy to look up. Cujo#31: None, but he outperformed Cujo, just like Giguere did. What does that tell you?
-
Avery never broke anybody's neck.
-
I wonder what the +/- would look like for that line. Yikes.
-
Ok, so you just cited two examples where an elite goaltender (Kipprusoff) posted shutouts and SHUT THE DOOR, while an inferior goaltender (Cujo) did not. The same thing happened in the Ducks series. In 2002, would you consider Hasek's playoff shutouts a credit to him, or a "lack of scoring" for the opposition?
-
Yeah, because the Ducks just lit Detroit up, right? It was a battle of goaltending. As with the rest of Joseph's career, he lost that battle.
-
Which "form" would that be? The one where he's never won a single thing in his career, or the one where he lets in 4 goals on 15 shots? He'll fit right in with the Leafs (again.) A match made in loser-heaven.

woah, big contract. hawks are accumulating some good talent though!

St. James: Sundin, Bertuzzi on radar, Rolston not
KronwallCRUNCH replied to 40#1Fan's topic in General
You people are hilarious. First, you want a big power forward...but you don't want Bertuzzi. I'll bet a lot of the people that don't want him now were people that welcomed him when he was here before. He's healthy, and effective again, and they don't get much bigger/power forward-ish than Bert. He didn't mean to break Moore's neck- how many times do you see sucker punches/dirty hits in a game every night? It was a freak accident, and I'd welcome him, and the 30+ goals that he'll score here with open arms. -
haaahahahaa they went out and got the only goaltender that's more mediocre than theo.
-
Solid. I like it. Earn that back-up spot, Jimmy!

What a great, GREAT signing.

Lilja re-signs w/2-year, est. $2.4M deal

i agree, good depth signing. -
I'd love to see Avery back in a Wings uniform, but I think that he'll probably get $3-4 million. Especially if Drake retires, it'd be nice to get another spark plug in here, even if he is a little bit nutty; loved watching him when he was here, and still do.

I didn't even bother reading all of the previous posts in this thread. Bouwmeester is a future norris-candidate. Florida is going to want much more than what we have to offer for him/
-
You're joking, right? How many times do you want me to repeat myself? When Avery was HERE, people didn't boo him, they cheered him. Just like they did in LA, just like they do in NY. How am I making up an "absurd story?" Fans like him everywhere he goes, please, prove me otherwise. I'll be waiting. Until then, just accept the fact that you're wrong and move on. Also, how about Sheffield today? A hr to send it into extra innings with the Tigers winning the game. Again, didn't hear any boos today!! Good call.
-
Have you ever seen an interview with him, heard him talk, anything? He's not egotistical. He does a lot of charity work, and is an agitator ON-THE-ICE. People here would hate Maltby's guts if he played for another team, although Maltby isn't as extreme. PS- GoWings1905, didn't sound like many people were booing Sheffield tonight when he went 4-5 with the game-winning hit. Maybe the audio on my tv was just messed up...Or maybe since it was a rain delay, only the people that like Sheffield were left in the stands..
-
The facts: NOBODY booed Avery when he was here. People cheer Sheffield when he performs. People cheer Sheed when he performs, actually, everytime he backs someone down or takes a 3. What are you arguing about? Fans are fickle. Again, NOBODY booed Avery when he was here. Find me a thread on this board saying how disgusting he was, how unsportsmanlike he was, or anything of the sort, please. I'll even take it a step further: Find me a thread on a Rangers/Kings board saying how much they hate him and want (wanted) him out of town. Most Pistons/Tigers fans would be fine without either of those players based on the season that the TEAM(s) have had. Look at Barry Bonds, fans of every other league in MLB despise him, but the Giants fans cheered him till the very end regardless of what a d-bag he was. Now, I've presented facts, and you've presented hypotheticals. Also, you think that this thread/forum represents Wings fans as a whole? Are you joking me? Even if you want to assume that LGW represents the opinions of the entire Red Wings fan-base, what about the LGW members that haven't even posted in this thread? Do you just assume that they're on your side? Yet another ridiculous assumption on your part. And as many on this thread have already said, he doesn't take stupid penalties. He's also more skilled than quite a few of our forwards.

Good post, finally, some insight.
-
WHAT!?! First of all, my point was about their antics, not their talent compared to others in the league. Every off-season people talk about getting rid of Sheed, but then once the season comes, he's cheered louder than any other Piston. When he gets the ball, all you hear is "SHEEEEED" from the crowd, so no, my analogy isn't bad. You basically proved my point for me about how they were both welcomed when they came to Detroit. The only reason Sheff was booed by (a small group of fans) is because he's spent time on the DL and hasn't been healthy/hasn't performed, not because of his attitude. How loud were the fans booing last night when he jacked one over the fence? That's what I thought. Bottom line is that fans liked Avery when he was here, LA fans loved him in LA, NY fans love him in NY. Red Wings fans would love him again if he was here (again.) To say otherwise is just being a blind homer/hater.
-
Yeah, Raycroft is 2nd on my "to-get" list. Right behind Blaine Lacher.
-
That must be why Detroit fans cheer 'Sheed and Sheffield, too. Eh?
-
bah! why give howard a chance? let's just let him rot in the minors until he's as old and washed up as cujo- then he'll be ready! who needs youth!?
-
thats my point, he's not on your team so you don't like his/his antics, which, yes- are extreme...same as fans of every other team in the league. if he was here (again,) people would like him (again)
-
blah blah blah. nobody was saying that while he was here. people loved him, just like they loved him in LA, and love him in NY.
