Actually Alexander Avtsin

I agree, great potential but hard to say until we see if he can keep it up. I'm rooting for him for sure though.
-
Is Sidney Crosby In the lead role? If not he should be.
-
I was told that there was a VHS tape called "The Bruise Brothers" made back in the day. Does anyone here have that?

"Roger Goodell (uncapped year, potential lockout, all the players in trouble with the law)" I think this argument doesn't fly. Goodell didn't take over the league until 2006, he hasn't had enough time to deal with all the issues. He has been hard on many of the players with serious league problems. Not to mention he is dealing with the largest sport in America, that makes more the twice that of the NHL. I think Goodell is by far the better commissioner of the two. I would also love to see how much the NFL made in comparison of the NHL in 1993. I think if you look and the spread, I would bet that it was closer back then compared to now. Back then NHL was the forth largest sport and now it's 5th.

That's about $5,230,783 too much.

When I saw that the guy that knocked out Toews was a UFA I thought how cool would it be to have him. However I started doing some digging and Began to wonder if it would be a good idea. One, as mentioned before, he is coming off some injuries that could hamper his reliability. Two I found out that he got into a fight in a practice and began to wonder if that meant he was a problem in the locker room. I personally would like to see a hard hitting defense-men on the wings but with as little cap room that they have to play with, I think that if they sign a player to a fairly high contract then it has to be a sure thing.

Sorry for the double post.

Ok, so I was curious about what the current condition, salary cap wise, of the wings was so I started a spread sheet to keep track. I thought I would post this topic so if I missed something all of you could correct me. I used some of the figures that are posted on this website but it is out of date. I know this will change a lot in the coming weeks. No. Po. I would love to watch that.....and you should too.

Not sure if anyone posted this link. If so sorry. TSN Probert Funeral

Sorry for forgeting Murphy. I think people fail to realize that when a Hall Of Fame player is "Past His Prime" he is still better than the majority of talent out there. Look at Yzerman...On one leg he was good enough to play at a high level and win a cup.
-
I remember people saying the same thing about Hasek and Hull...I thought they did ok. Larionov was also "past his time" when they picked him up the second time....Again I think he did fairly well.
-
Could he pick 6 it's 9 upside-down?
-
Poop....That makes it alot easier. Man My numbers were off buy quite a bit.
-
I hope know-body picks up that guy......NO MORE WHISTLES!!!!!!

Again, look at the cap hit. Maltby = $88,333 (Last Contract) Lilja = $1,250,000 (Last Contract) Now personally I think it's time for Maltby to retire but he's still a consistent role player that is pretty cheap. It sounds like Lilja is asking for more money and I really don't think he's worth that much of a cap hit.
-
I stand corrected. I still say he is not worth a serious cap hit when they have other options. Add that to the fact that I trust Holland to make responsible decisions with personnel and I say it's time to move on.
-
Am I thinking of a different player here??? Isn't Lilja the same player that has sat on the injured list much of his carrier? Isn't it kind of risky to pay big bucks for a guy that is prone to long term injuries?? He's good don't get me wrong, but in today's cap era I think you can get a more durable player for the same cost as what he will want to sign for that will give you the same performance.
-
I think it's kind of silly for the people to say that what Ovechkin and Crosby are doing is better than what Yzerman And Sakic did. There are more teams now than there were back in the Prime of Yzerman and Sakic's carrier. The talent level was not as watered down as it is now. Not to mention Yzerman And Sakic had to compete with the likes of 99 and 66. To me that argument holds very little water.

I agree and have to say that the majority of that hit was taken by the glass. He barely hit him and the Goalie flew threw the air like the guy dropped a grenade at the dudes feet. BS move, but the goalie is a ****** too. I know its part of the game but I hate Diving. It reminds me too much of Basketball or worse yet Soccer. Maybe the goalie needed Spray bottle and Magic sponge after that "hit".
-
I disagree with that point. The Palace is really a GREAT venue and there is no problem with sharing an arena, the majority of the teams do. Do you really think the Joe always has Ice on the floor? They have concerts and wrestling there during the season and they have no problem taking the rink up and down. The biggest problem, in my opinion, is location. I like the Wings in Detroit but if Ilitch wants to build a state of the art hockey arena downtown and need the wings to play at the Palace for a couple years I don't see it as a big deal. As long as it's not in Ford Field or the Silver Dome were the would put up a curtain as they did with the Pistons back in the day. But I think we should all get used to the Pistons sharing an arena with the Wings because I have a feeling that, give the economics of it all, they will both end up in Detroit in a new building. Not to mention that it looks like Ilitch holdings may be interested in buying the Pistons.

I kind of agree, however I think its more like comparing a Corvette to a Cadillac. Pavel is a fast and entertaining specimen to watch and can do things that make you take a double take. His ability to steal the puck from ANY player and that player doesn't even know it happened is something that amazes me every-time I see it. Igor on the other hand played offense kind of the way Lindstrom plays defense. He made it look effortless and was not flashy. He seamed to always be in the right place ant the right time and with his pin point passing could make plays, seemingly, with ease. Ether way, I consider myself very lucky that I got to see both players play for my team and got to enjoy both there immense talents. I couldn't say that one is better than the other but I do think that Pavel has a more entertaining style of play.
