That is amazing!! Zetterberg has very quicky become my favourite player (he was always up there, but his play lately put him over the top).I hope to hell he remains on this team for many years to come(his entire career would be best).Talk about a hidden draft day gem!! Do we have great scouts and management or what???
-
Speaking of empty net misses, these are hilarious:
-
Ahhh,so he did'nt look TOTALLY useless then.
-
Excellent signing.Glad to see Holmstrom is going to be sticking around!! Now let's get Zetterberg and Datsuyk locked up for the same amount of time!! Actually, get Zetterberg locked up for another freaking 10!!!
-
Nice to hear we got the win tonight and Hank got a hattrick!! He's just kickin ass lately!! So Jason Williams missed a freaking empty net?? What a useless twit. His trade value just went down even more, and it's not like he had alot to begin with.LOL

Kenny can't be as gutsy as he was in the past, and he knows that. The days of him dealing away the future(prospects)at the deadline for rentals and not worrying about it because he could just throw some cash around to get players anytime he wanted are over.Prospects are key with the salary cap in place.I'm glad he's not an idiot. Beat me to it.
-
Ahh.Gotcha.

I find all the freaking out over the Forsberg thing hilarious. He's not really what we needed, and he demanded a high price.Let it go people. And the point of posting that was?
-
I think Kenny is just biding his time, trying to make the best deal possible for the team, and not jumping into anything without weighing all his options.Like,if he would have given what the Preds gave to get Forsberg, that would have seriously affected the future.I think he's a great GM in the new NHL.He knows he must be frugal, and he sticks with that.I really hope he picks up Bertuzzi or Guerin by the deadline though, because we desperately need someone like that.An enforcer like Laroque could'nt hurt either. Get it done, but get it done right Kenny!!
-
I'd be up for it,seeing as this is most likely Hasek's final year.I definitly would'nt want management to pin their hopes on Osgood as the number 1 guy next year. He's proven to be unreliable this year. But of course,if they feel Howard is ready next year..by all means bring him up instead of signing someone.
-
This is hilarious how people are flipping because we did'nt get Forsberg.Look at what Nashville gave up to get him.Holland was very interested in him and he made his offer. So it was'nt enough..would you rather he gave what the Preds did??I personally did'nt want Forsberg here from the beginning of all these rumours, and i'm VERY happy we did'nt get him.We need a scoring forward with toughness.Bring on Bertuzzi !!!I know Holland will land someone soon, and it's not gonna be Floppa!!!!!
-
No Forsberg??This is a VERY happy day for me.Kenny knows theres better out there...NOW GET THEM!!!
-
Hatcher would be a good pickup to bring some size and toughness to this team, but not at the price of his current contract. The guy is basically just a big overpaid pylon who takes 10 minutes to skate from one end of the ice to the next, and is'nt really all that good defensively. All he's useful for is a big body on the back end for teams to contend with.He does'nt really bring anything else.Unless he comes cheap, which he won't..pass.
-
Does anyone have any links to the videos of the Wings goals from tonight??Would be greatly appreciated.

I remember seeing Mike Smith play quite a bit when he was in junior here in Sudbury with the Wolves.I don't remember him being all that good.He must have done quite a bit of work on his game. edit-Nevermind,I just checked his numbers from when he was here, and they're pretty good.Perhaps it's the team as a whole I remember sucking.
-
Man, REALLY need to see those goals in the third tonight by the sounds of things!!
-
This may very well be Hasek's last season, but Osgood is'nt old. He's still got some years left in him.Whether he plays the rest of those years here remains to be seen though. If we were to pick up a replacement for them,i'd like it to someone that does'nt have a huge contract, and can fill the gap until Howard and/or Liv are ready to come up.No need to go out and sign a guy with a Khabibulin-like salary.Biron has been mentioned many times on this board.I think he'd be perfect.Or perhaps David Aebisher.
-
I did'nt get to see this game unfortunatly, but I did get regular updates while watching the Vancouver/Minnesota game.Zetterberg sure kicked ass in the third, and good to see Ozzie come out and get the win.The one thing I don't get though,is why was he on the injured list with a broken finger for so long, yet he came out and played tonight while it's still broken. Why did'nt he just play with it all along?I always thought the broken finger excuse was pretty cheesy.Ahh well,as long as he's back for good and continues to play well,i'm happy.

Maybe i'd just like to have the last goalie who actually showed up in the playoffs for us back in the fold.I realize we'd have to give up prospects.I did'nt say it was the best idea to get him in that regard. It would just be nice to have him back.As for Cujo and Dom hating each other..I don't know if that's really true.I think it was mostly Hasek feeling his job was threatened by having another top goalie in the league on the same team as him(after he'd been gone a year and Cujo was clearly the starter.I still think it was a bad move by management to pick up Hasek's option.Caused alot of uneed chaos),so he threw fits and got management to waive Joseph.I've never heard anything about Cujo having any problem with being on a team with Dom.As I posted above,I think it would be different now.Dom is number 1 here.Anyone coming in is going to be his backup automatically. Why would Cujo throw fits because he would have a chance at another cup?? You totally missed my point on that last comment.I was saying by bringing a guy like Cujo in here,it would make Dom play better,as not to lose his job as the number 1 goalie, because he'd know Cujo would be right there to take it if he faltered.Osgood is'nt exactly breathing down his neck for the starting job right now,so he may not play as hard as he really can.Just kinda nonchalant,ya know?

MLive: Forsberg talk heats up, deal "in days"?
Bob_Essensa replied to Howe's Bony Elbow's topic in General
How is Bertuzzi more of a risk than Forsberg? Both were injured this year.Watch us get Forsberg, then one game his skate "does'nt fit right anymore",and he misses a few games flying around the globe trying to find a replacement.LOL Yep. -

Sorry, maybe it was all the dives i've seen him take.Either way,he's basically more of what we already have.He may stick up for himself sometimes, be he won't be the guy sticking up for his teammates, and occasionally dropping the gloves, like a Shanny or Bertuzzi. That's what i'm saying..get a guy who can score and will protect. There are available guys out there that will do that. -
Have a chance at a cup in Detroit,or go golfing with Coyotes 'mates.I think he'd take the cup shot regardless of the past, especialy seeing as he's near the end of his career. That's just my thoughts though. Another thing about having Cujo around,I think it would make Hasek want to play even better, knowing he has a very capable goalie under him who could come in and take over if he falters.Osgood is'nt exactly showing him any of that this season.
-
I don't think Hasek would feel threatened by Cujo's presence in the room this time around. He is the clear cut number one here nowadays. When he came out of retirement this team already had a number one goalie and he wanted the job.I don't think it's unrealistic to ask Cujo to play a backup role here. He's not exactly a top goalie in the league anymore. He's still a hell of a lot better and more realiable than Osgood though, and i'm sure he still wants that elusive first Stanley Cup.
