I just read the best idea for Nabby yet. Tell Snow you're ready to play. Show up, play a period or so, then fake an injury. It's been working for DiPietro for years now. Then he can go where he wants when the season is over, and there's nothing the Isles can do about it.

It just doesn't make sense. All the Isles are going to do is hurt themselves. Say Nabby comes in, plays 30 games, and wins 20-25 of them. The Isles still don't make the playoffs, and their place in the draft order just went way down. Nabby walks at the end, and they can't lure another NHL caliber goalie because of how they treat players. They have a mid-round draft pick instead of a top 3. How exactly does this help them?

Kulemin was trying to go, and throwing glove punches. There are at least two in there, and Gleason even gave him a couple back, but Kulemin has to expect the gloves to come off.

Maybe he will just show up and be a locker room cancer, and totally destroy anything the Isles have going in that department. He can play to the best of his ability, but still be passive aggressive, and cause issues. That's my biggest question about Snow playing hardball. Do you really want someone working for you that has no desire to be there, and has been forced into it?

I think Nabby's agent better rethink the "not showing up" deal. There is no way being stuck playing for the Islanders next year. Just bite the bullet for the next 3 months, till it's time to play golf. Hell, have the 2nd half of your life, and hose the Islanders out of a higher draft pick.

Wow..Nabby is gonna get hosed then. Yikes. I can see Snow petitioning for "tolling" the contract. If what Outsider says is true, and they don't care, that seems right up their alley. Wasting a roster spot 2 years in a row.

Seems like a better use of Snow's time would be to try and improve things so that they can attract some free agents, rather than continually demonstrating that the Islanders are going to treat you like livestock if you sign there, and even if you don't.

You are absolutely right. Nabby did what the Wings did. Take a chance that he'd make it to a contender, and not a bottom feeder. It was a shot in the dark, and it failed. However, I do agree with him that he should have some control over where he goes. Just because he played in Europe shouldn't force him to play for a team he never would have agreed to play for. The no movement clause he put in the contract makes it clear that that is important to him.

Well, regardless, I don't blame Nabby for not reporting. I really hope you're right about Snow and Wang, and they totally destroy any goodwill they have with players wanting to go there. Maybe Wang will have to follow through on his threats of moving the team.

That's one of those "Oh crap, I didn't see that coming!" situations. I'm sure they figured the Islanders were already tanking the season to get another top pick, and wouldn't want to risk improving this season.

Garth Snow is being a ******. There's no getting around that. A smart GM would have likely contacted the player/agent they were going to claim off of waivers prior to actually doing so. Personally, I didn't expect Nabokov to make it through waivers, and I'm not shocked he didn't make it. I just think it's funny the Isles are all butthurt that a player that signed with another team doesn't want to play for a bottom feeder.

Pronger was totally directing traffic on that, he didn't even look at where Kipper was. Kipper seems like more of a ****** on this than Pronger does.

I liked the idea that several folks have brought up in the comments. Have all the selected players throw their sticks in a pile, and either have the captains take turns picking a stick, or just have like Bettman go to the pile and throw them either way. Would be a cool way to pick the teams, getting back to the shinny roots.
